2019-11-01ata: make qc_prep return ata_completion_errorsJiri Slaby1-2/+4
In case a driver wants to return an error from qc_prep, return enum ata_completion_errors. sata_mv is one of those drivers -- see the next patch. Other drivers return the newly defined AC_ERR_OK. [v2] use enum ata_completion_errors and AC_ERR_OK. 2017-03-06ata: constify of_device_id structuresBhumika Goyal1-1/+1
Declare of_device_id structures as const as they are either passed to the macro MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE or stored in the of_match_table field of a device_driver structure. This field is of type const, so of_device_id structures having this property can be made const too. 2016-02-06PCI: Remove includes of asm/pci-bridge.hBjorn Helgaas1-1/+1
Drivers should include asm/pci-bridge.h only when they need the arch- specific things provided there. Outside of the arch/ directories, the only drivers that actually need things provided by asm/pci-bridge.h are the powerpc RPA hotplug drivers in drivers/pci/hotplug/rpa*. Remove the includes of asm/pci-bridge.h from the other drivers, adding an include of linux/pci.h if necessary. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
2015-09-17ata: pata_macio: Fix module autoload for OF platform driverLuis de Bethencourt1-0/+1
This platform driver has a OF device ID table but the OF module alias information is not created so module autoloading won't work. This patch adds the missing MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() for OF to export that information so modules have the correct aliases built-in and autoloading works correctly. 2015-03-23powerpc: Move Power Macintosh drivers to generic byteswappersDavid Gibson1-5/+5
ppc has special instruction forms to efficiently load and store values in non-native endianness. These can be accessed via the arch-specific {ld,st}_le{16,32}() inlines in arch/powerpc/include/asm/swab.h. However, gcc is perfectly capable of generating the byte-reversing load/store instructions when using the normal, generic cpu_to_le*() and le*_to_cpu() functions eaning the arch-specific functions don't have much point. Worse the "le" in the names of the arch specific functions is now misleading, because they always generate byte-reversing forms, but some ppc machines can now run a little-endian kernel. To start getting rid of the arch-specific forms, this patch removes them from all the old Power Macintosh drivers, replacing them with the generic byteswappers. 2014-05-10ata: use CONFIG_PM_SLEEP instead of CONFIG_PM where applicable in host driversBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz1-14/+8
This patch fixes host drivers to use CONFIG_PM_SLEEP instead of CONFIG_PM where applicable. Benefits of this change: * unused code is not being compiled in for CONFIG_PM=y, CONFIG_PM_SLEEP=n and CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME=y configurations * easier transition to use struct dev_pm_ops and SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() in the future * more consistent code (there are host drivers which are using the correct CONFIG_PM_SLEEP checks already) The patch leaves the core libata code and ->port_[suspend,resume] support in sata_[inic162x,nv,sil24].c alone for now. 2010-06-02powerpc/macio: Fix probing of macio devices by using the right of match tableBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-5/+5
Grant patches added an of mach table to struct device_driver. However, while he changed the macio device code to use that, he left the match table pointer in struct macio_driver and didn't update drivers to use the "new" one, thus breaking the probing. This completes the change by moving all drivers to setup the "new" one, removing all traces of the old one, and while at it (since it changes the exact same locations), I also remove two other duplicates from struct driver which are the name and owner fields. 2010-05-26libata-sff: separate out BMDMA irq handlerTejun Heo1-1/+1
Separate out BMDMA irq handler from SFF irq handler. The misnamed host_intr() functions are renamed to ata_sff_port_intr() and ata_bmdma_port_intr(). Common parts are factored into __ata_sff_port_intr() and __ata_sff_interrupt() and used by sff and bmdma interrupt routines. All BMDMA drivers now use ata_bmdma_interrupt() or ata_bmdma_port_intr() while all non-BMDMA SFF ones use ata_sff_interrupt() or ata_sff_port_intr(). For now, ata_pci_sff_init_one() uses ata_bmdma_interrupt() as it's used by both SFF and BMDMA drivers. Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com>

2010-05-19libata-sff: clean up BMDMA initializationTejun Heo1-0/+2
When BMDMA initialization failed or BMDMA was not available for whatever reason, bmdma_addr was left at zero and used as an indication that BMDMA shouldn't be used. This leads to the following problems. p1. For BMDMA drivers which don't use traditional BMDMA register, ata_bmdma_mode_filter() incorrectly inhibits DMA modes. Those drivers either have to inherit from ata_sff_port_ops or clear ->mode_filter explicitly. p2. non-BMDMA drivers call into BMDMA PRD table allocation. It doesn't actually allocate PRD table if bmdma_addr is not initialized but is still confusing. p3. For BMDMA drivers which don't use traditional BMDMA register, some methods might not be invoked as expected (e.g. bmdma_stop from ata_sff_post_internal_cmd()). p4. SFF drivers w/ custom DMA interface implement noop BMDMA ops worrying libata core might call into one of them. These problems are caused by the muddy line between SFF and BMDMA and the assumption that all BMDMA controllers initialize bmdma_addr. This patch fixes p1 and p2 by removing the bmdma_addr assumption and moving prd allocation to BMDMA port start. Later patches will fix the remaining issues. This patch improves BMDMA initialization such that * When BMDMA register initialization fails, falls back to PIO instead of failing. ata_pci_bmdma_init() never fails now. * When ata_pci_bmdma_init() falls back to PIO, it clears ap->mwdma_mask and udma_mask instead of depending on ata_bmdma_mode_filter(). This makes ata_bmdma_mode_filter() unnecessary thus resolving p1. * ata_port_start() which actually is BMDMA specific is moved to ata_bmdma_port_start(). ata_port_start() and ata_sff_port_start() are killed. * ata_sff_port_start32() is moved and renamed to ata_bmdma_port_start32(). Drivers which no longer call into PRD table allocation are... pdc_adma, sata_inic162x, sata_qstor, sata_sx4, pata_cmd640 and all drivers which inherit from ata_sff_port_ops. pata_icside sets ->port_start to ATA_OP_NULL as it doesn't need PRD but is a BMDMA controller and doesn't have custom port_start like other such controllers. Note that with the previous patch which makes all and only BMDMA drivers inherit from ata_bmdma_port_ops, this change doesn't break drivers which need PRD table. 2010-05-19libata-sff: clean up inheritance in several driversTejun Heo1-2/+1
1. pata_cmd640 is PIO only. Inherit from sff. 2. pata_macio is BMDMA. Inherit from bmdma and drop explicit bmdma_mode_filter() setting. 3. In sata_mv, unlike mv5, mv6 is BMDMA. Inherit from bmdma and don't clear ->post_internal_cmd(). 4. bf54x and icside are quasi-BMDMA controllers which don't use the standard BMDMA registers so they don't initialize bmdma_addr and inherit from sff to avoid the default mode_filter which disables DMA modes if bmdma_addr is not initialized. For 2 and 3, this patch makes the drivers explicitly specify ->mode_filter to ATA_OP_NULL while inheriting from ata_bmdma_port_ops. These will be removed by the next patch. This patch makes all and only BMDMA drivers inherit from ata_bmdma_port_ops to ease further SFF/BMDMA separation. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo1-0/+1
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. 2009-12-09libata/drivers: Add driver for Apple "MacIO" IDE controllerBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-0/+1427
This is a libata driver for the "macio" IDE controller used on most Apple PowerMac and PowerBooks. It's a libata equivalent of drivers/ide/ppc/pmac.c It supports all the features of its predecessor, including mediabay hotplug and suspend/resume. It should also support module load/unload. The timing calculations have been simplified to use pre-calculated tables compared to drivers/ide/pmac.c and it uses the new mediabay interface provided by a previous patch.
