2021-01-20net: igbvf: use skb_csum_is_sctp instead of protocol checkXin Long1-13/+1
Using skb_csum_is_sctp is a easier way to validate it's a SCTP CRC checksum offload packet, and yet it also makes igbvf support SCTP CRC checksum offload for UDP and GRE encapped packets, just as it does in igb driver. 2020-09-26intel-ethernet: clean up W=1 warnings in kdocJesse Brandeburg1-5/+12
This takes care of all of the trivial W=1 fixes in the Intel Ethernet drivers, which allows developers and maintainers to build more of the networking tree with more complete warning checks. There are three classes of kdoc warnings fixed: - cannot understand function prototype: 'x' - Excess function parameter 'x' description in 'y' - Function parameter or member 'x' not described in 'y' All of the changes were trivial comment updates on function headers. Inspired by Lee Jones' series of wireless work to do the same. 2020-07-30igbvf: use generic power managementVaibhav Gupta1-29/+8
Remove legacy PM callbacks and use generic operations. With legacy code, drivers were responsible for handling PCI PM operations like pci_save_state(). In generic code, all these are handled by PCI core. The generic suspend() and resume() are called at the same point the legacy ones were called. Thus, it does not affect the normal functioning of the driver. __maybe_unused attribute is used with .resume() but not with .suspend(), as .suspend() is called by .shutdown(). Compile-tested only. 2020-06-26net/intel: remove driver versions from Intel driversJeff Kirsher1-4/+1
As with other networking drivers, remove the unnecessary driver version from the Intel drivers. The ethtool driver information and module version will then report the kernel version instead. For ixgbe, i40e and ice drivers, the driver passes the driver version to the firmware to confirm that we are up and running. So we now pass the value of UTS_RELEASE to the firmware. This adminq call is required per the HAS document. The Device then sends an indication to the BMC that the PF driver is present. This is done using Host NC Driver Status Indication in NC-SI Get Link command or via the Host Network Controller Driver Status Change AEN. What the BMC may do with this information is implementation-dependent, but this is a standard NC-SI 1.1 command we honor per the HAS. Changing a network device MTU can be a fairly frequent operation, and failure to change the MTU is reflected to user-space properly, both by an appropriate message as well as by looking at whether the device's MTU matches the configuration. Demote the prints to debug prints by using netdev_dbg(), making all Intel wired LAN drivers consistent, since they used a mixture of PCI device and network device prints before. mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was generated using coccinelle: @mmiowb@ @@ - mmiowb(); and invoked as: $ for d in drivers include/linux/qed sound; do \ spatch --include-headers --sp-file mmiowb.cocci --dir $d --in-place; done NOTE: mmiowb() has only ever guaranteed ordering in conjunction with spin_unlock(). However, pairing each mmiowb() removal in this patch with the corresponding call to spin_unlock() is not at all trivial, so there is a small chance that this change may regress any drivers incorrectly relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64 systems. 2018-11-21ethernet/intel: consolidate NAPI and NAPI exitJesse Brandeburg1-3/+6
While reviewing code, I noticed that Eric Dumazet recommends that drivers check the return code of napi_complete_done, and use that to decide to enable interrupts or not when exiting poll. One of the Intel drivers was already fixed (ixgbe). Upon looking at the Intel drivers as a whole, we are handling our polling and NAPI exit in a few different ways based on whether we have multiqueue and whether we have Tx cleanup included. Several drivers had the bug of exiting NAPI with return 0, which appears to mess up the accounting in the stack. Consolidate all the NAPI routines to do best known way of exiting and to just mostly look like each other. 1) check return code of napi_complete_done to control interrupt enable 2) return the actual amount of work done. 3) return budget immediately if need NAPI poll again Tested the changes on e1000e with a high interrupt rate set, and it shows about an 8% reduction in the CPU utilization when busy polling because we aren't re-enabling interrupts when we're about to be polled. The original issue being fixed in this patch was seen with the ixgbe driver, but the same issue exists with igbvf as well, as the code is very similar. read_barrier_depends is not sufficient to ensure loads following it are not speculatively loaded out of order by the CPU, which can result in stale data being loaded, causing potential system crashes. 2017-08-09igbvf: add lock around mailbox opsGreg Edwards1-0/+47
The PF driver assumes the VF will not send another mailbox message until the PF has written its reply to the previous message. If the VF does, that message will be silently dropped by the PF before it writes its reply to the mailbox. This results in a VF mailbox timeout for posted messages waiting for an ACK, and the VF is reset by the igbvf_watchdog_task in the VM. Add a lock around the VF mailbox ops to prevent the VF from sending another message while the PF is still processing the previous one. Add functionality for the VF to request up to 3 additional MAC filters. This is done using existing E1000_VF_SET_MAC_ADDR message, but with additional message info - E1000_VF_MAC_FILTER_CLR to clear all unicast MAC filters previously set for this VF and E1000_VF_MAC_FILTER_ADD to add MAC filter. Additional filters can be added only in case if administrator did not set VF MAC explicitly and allowed to change default MAC to the VF. Due to the limited number of RAR entries reserve at least 3 MAC filters for the PF. If SRIOV is supported by the NIC after this change RAR entries starting from 1 to (RAR MAX ENTRIES - NUM SRIOV VFS) will be used for PF and VF MAC filters. Couple conflicts resolved here: 1) In the MACB driver, a bug fix to properly initialize the RX tail pointer properly overlapped with some changes to support variable sized rings. 2) In XGBE we had a "CONFIG_PM" --> "CONFIG_PM_SLEEP" fix overlapping with a reorganization of the driver to support ACPI, OF, as well as PCI variants of the chip. 3) In 'net' we had several probe error path bug fixes to the stmmac driver, meanwhile a lot of this code was cleaned up and reorganized in 'net-next'. 4) The cls_flower classifier obtained a helper function in 'net-next' called __fl_delete() and this overlapped with Daniel Borkamann's bug fix to use RCU for object destruction in 'net'. It also overlapped with Jiri's change to guard the rhashtable_remove_fast() call with a check against tc_skip_sw(). 5) In mlx4, a revert bug fix in 'net' overlapped with some unrelated changes in 'net-next'. 6) In geneve, a stale header pointer after pskb_expand_head() bug fix in 'net' overlapped with a large reorganization of the same code in 'net-next'. 2016-12-01igb/igbvf: Don't use lco_csum to compute IPv4 checksumAlexander Duyck1-2/+6
In the case of IPIP and SIT tunnel frames the outer transport header offset is actually set to the same offset as the inner transport header. This results in the lco_csum call not doing any checksum computation over the inner IPv4/v6 header data. In order to account for that I am updating the code so that we determine the location to start the checksum ourselves based on the location of the IPv4 header and the length. This patch defines two new GSO definitions SKB_GSO_IPXIP4 and SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 along with corresponding NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP4 and NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP6. These are used to described IP in IP tunnel and what the outer protocol is. The inner protocol can be deduced from other GSO types (e.g. SKB_GSO_TCPV4 and SKB_GSO_TCPV6). The GSO types of SKB_GSO_IPIP and SKB_GSO_SIT are removed (these are both instances of SKB_GSO_IPXIP4). SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 will be used when support for GSO with IP encapsulation over IPv6 is added. Specifically with this change the driver an perform segmentation as long as the frame either has IPv6 inner headers, or we are allowed to mangle the IP IDs on the inner header. However the submitter addressed those concerns. But the dialogue went cold. We have a new case where a customers application is registering and un-registering multicast addresses every few seconds. This is leading to many "Link is Up" messages in the logs as a result of the "netif_carrier_off(netdev)" statement called by igbvf_msix_other(). Also on some kernels it is interfering with the bonding driver causing it to failover and subsequently affecting connectivity. The Sourgeforge driver does not make this call and is therefore not affected. If there were any side effects I would expect that driver to also be affected. I have tested re-loading the igbvf driver and downing the adapter with the PF entity on the host where the VM has this patch. When I bring it back up again connectivity is restored as expected. Therefore I request that this patch gets submitted. 2016-02-25igbvf: Add support for generic Tx checksumsAlexander Duyck1-61/+81
This patch adds support for generic Tx checksums to the igbvf driver. It turns out this is actually pretty easy after going over the datasheet as we were doing a number of steps we didn't need to. In order to perform a Tx checksum for an L4 header we need to fill in the following fields in the Tx descriptor: MACLEN (maximum of 127), retrieved from: skb_network_offset() IPLEN (maximum of 511), retrieved from: skb_checksum_start_offset() - skb_network_offset() TUCMD.L4T indicates offset and if checksum or crc32c, based on: skb->csum_offset The added advantage to doing this is that we can support inner checksum offloads for tunnels and MPLS while still being able to transparently insert VLAN tags. I also took the opportunity to clean-up many of the feature flag configuration bits to make them a bit more consistent between drivers. In the case of the VF drivers this meant adding support for SCTP CRCs, and inner checksum offloads for MPLS and various tunnel types. Some of the more serious errors include: - drivers which only set their coherent DMA mask if the attempt to set the streaming mask fails. - drivers which test for a NULL dma mask pointer, and then set the dma mask pointer to a location in their module .data section - which will cause problems if the module is reloaded. To counter these, I have introduced two helper functions: - dma_set_mask_and_coherent() takes care of setting both the streaming and coherent masks at the same time, with the correct error handling as specified by the API. - dma_coerce_mask_and_coherent() which resolves the problem of drivers forcefully setting DMA masks. 2013-10-24igbvf: integer wrapping bug setting the mtuDan Carpenter1-3/+2
If new_mtu is very large then "new_mtu + ETH_HLEN + ETH_FCS_LEN" can wrap and the check on the next line can underflow. This is one of those bugs which can be triggered by the user if you have namespaces configured. Also since this is something the user can trigger then we don't want to have dev_err() message. This is a static checker fix and I'm not sure what the impact is.
