2023-10-02drm/i915: Add missing GSCCS documentationRodrigo Vivi1-0/+4
Introduce the basic documentation about GSC CS. This "GPU Basics" section is focused on explaining the hardware rather than the driver/uapi, so let's make sure GSC is also properly documented here. v2: Fixes from Matt: typos and acronym. 2023-10-02drm/i915: Add missing CCS documentationRodrigo Vivi1-13/+12
Let's introduce the basic documentation about CCS. While doing that, also removed the legacy execution flag name. That flag simply doesn't exist for CCS and it is not needed on current context submission. Those flag names are only needed on legacy context, while on new ones we only need to pass the engine ID. It is worth mention that this documentation should probably live with the engine definitions rather than in the i915.rst file directly and that more updates are likely need in this section. But this should come later. v2: Overall improvements from Matt and Tvrtko. 2022-11-14drm/i915/mtl: Handle wopcm per-GT and limit calculations.Aravind Iddamsetty1-1/+1
With MTL standalone media architecture the wopcm layout has changed, with separate partitioning in WOPCM for the root GT GuC and the media GT GuC. The size of WOPCM is 4MB with the lower 2MB reserved for the media GT and the upper 2MB for the root GT. Given that MTL has GuC deprivilege, the WOPCM registers are pre-locked by the bios. Therefore, we can skip all the math for the partitioning and just limit ourselves to sanity-checking the values. v2: fix makefile file ordering (Jani) v3: drop XELPM_SAMEDIA_WOPCM_SIZE, check huc instead of VDBOX (John) v4: further clarify commit message, remove blank line (John) Signed-off-by: Aravind Iddamsetty <aravind.iddamsetty@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Daniele Ceraolo Spurio <daniele.ceraolospurio@intel.com> Cc: Matt Roper <matthew.d.roper@intel.com> Cc: John Harrison <john.c.harrison@intel.com> Cc: Alan Previn <alan.previn.teres.alexis@intel.com> Cc: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: John Harrison <John.C.Harrison@Intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20221108020600.3575467-5-daniele.ceraolospurio@intel.com
2022-06-17drm/i915/gt: Cleanup interface for MCR operationsMatt Roper1-0/+12
Let's replace the assortment of intel_gt_* and intel_uncore_* functions that operate on MCR registers with a cleaner set of interfaces: * intel_gt_mcr_read -- unicast read from specific instance * intel_gt_mcr_read_any[_fw] -- unicast read from any non-terminated instance * intel_gt_mcr_unicast_write -- unicast write to specific instance * intel_gt_mcr_multicast_write[_fw] -- multicast write to all instances We'll also replace the historic "slice" and "subslice" terminology with "group" and "instance" to match the documentation for more recent platforms; these days MCR steering applies to more types of replication than just slice/subslice. v2: - Reference the new kerneldoc from i915.rst. (Jani) - Tweak the wording of the documentation for a couple functions to clarify the difference between "_fw" and non-"_fw" forms. v3: - s/read/write/ to fix copy-paste mistake in a couple comments. 2022-03-29docs: gpu: i915.rst: Fix DRRS documentationJosé Roberto de Souza1-13/+1
intel_drrs_enable() and intel_drrs_disable() were renamed to intel_drrs_activate() and intel_drrs_deactivate() in commit 54903c7a6b40 ("drm/i915: s/enable/active/ for DRRS") and it is causing warnings when generating the kernel documentation. But as for a while DRRS has its own file, so here just let the tool generate the documentation for all exported and documented functions in intel_drrs.c. 2022-01-11drm/i915/guc: Update to GuC version 69.0.3John Harrison1-0/+1
Update to the latest GuC release. The latest GuC firmware introduces a number of interface changes: GuC may return NO_RESPONSE_RETRY message for requests sent over CTB. Add support for this reply and try resending the request again as a new CTB message. A KLV (key-length-value) mechanism is now used for passing configuration data such as CTB management. With the new KLV scheme, the old CTB management actions are no longer used and are removed. Register capture on hang is now supported by GuC. Full i915 support for this will be added by a later patch. A minimum support of providing capture memory and register lists is required though, so add that in. The device id of the current platform needs to be provided at init time. The 'poll CS' w/a (Wa_22012773006) was blanket enabled by previous versions of GuC. It must now be explicitly requested by the KMD. So, add in the code to turn it on when relevant. The GuC log entry format has changed. This requires adding a new field to the log header structure to mark the wrap point at the end of the buffer (as the buffer size is no longer a multiple of the log entry size). New CTB notification messages are now sent for some things that were previously only sent via MMIO notifications. Of these, the crash dump notification was not really being handled by i915. It called the log flush code but that only flushed the regular debug log and then only if relay logging was enabled. So just report an error message instead. The 'exception' notification was just being ignored completely. So add an error message for that as well. Note that in either the crash dump or the exception case, the GuC is basically dead. The KMD will detect this via the heartbeat and trigger both an error log (which will include the crash dump as part of the GuC log) and a GT reset. So no other processing is really required. 2021-06-19drm/i915: Move priolist to new i915_sched_engine objectMatthew Brost1-0/+5
Introduce i915_sched_engine object which is lower level data structure that i915_scheduler / generic code can operate on without touching execlist specific structures. This allows additional submission backends to be added without breaking the layering. Currently the execlists backend uses 1 of these object per each engine (physical or virtual) but future backends like the GuC will point to less instances utilizing the reference counting. This is a bit of detour to integrating the i915 with the DRM scheduler but this object will still exist when the DRM scheduler lands in the i915. It will however look a bit different. It will encapsulate the drm_gpu_scheduler object plus and common variables (to the backends) related to scheduling. Regardless this is a step in the right direction. This patch starts the aforementioned transition by moving the priolist into the i915_sched_engine object. v3: (Jason Ekstrand) Update comment next to intel_engine_cs.virtual Add kernel doc (Checkpatch) Fix double the in commit message v4: (Daniele) Update comment message.
