2012-12-05hwmon: (ads7828) add support for ADS7830Guillaume Roguez1-2/+9
The ADS7830 device is almost the same as the ADS7828, except that it does 8-bit sampling, instead of 12-bit. This patch extends the ads7828 driver to support this chip. 2012-12-05hwmon: (ads7828) driver cleanupVivien Didelot1-10/+25
As there is no reliable way to identify the chip, it is preferable to remove the detect callback, to avoid misdetection. Module parameters are not worth it here, so let's get rid of them and add an ads7828_platform_data structure instead. Clean the code by removing unused macros, fixing coding style issues, avoiding function prototypes and using convenient macros such as module_i2c_driver(). 2012-12-03Merge branch 'rcu/next' of ↵Ingo Molnar8-200/+325
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/paulmck/linux-rcu into core/rcu Conflicts: arch/x86/kernel/ptrace.c Pull the latest RCU tree from Paul E. McKenney: " The major features of this series are: 1. A first version of no-callbacks CPUs. This version prohibits offlining CPU 0, but only when enabled via CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU=y. Relaxing this constraint is in progress, but not yet ready for prime time. These commits were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/724, and are at branch rcu/nocb. 2. Changes to SRCU that allows statically initialized srcu_struct structures. These commits were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/296, and are at branch rcu/srcu. 3. Restructuring of RCU's debugfs output. These commits were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/341, and are at branch rcu/tracing. 4. Additional CPU-hotplug/RCU improvements, posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/327, and are at branch rcu/hotplug. Note that the commit eliminating __stop_machine() was judged to be too-high of risk, so is deferred to 3.9. 5. Changes to RCU's idle interface, most notably a new module parameter that redirects normal grace-period operations to their expedited equivalents. These were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/739, and are at branch rcu/idle. 6. Additional diagnostics for RCU's CPU stall warning facility, posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/315, and are at branch rcu/stall. The most notable change reduces the default RCU CPU stall-warning time from 60 seconds to 21 seconds, so that it once again happens sooner than the softlockup timeout. 7. Documentation updates, which were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/280, and are at branch rcu/doc. A couple of late-breaking changes were posted at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/634 and https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/547. 8. Miscellaneous fixes, which were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/309, along with a late-breaking change posted at Fri, 16 Nov 2012 11:26:25 -0800 with message-ID <20121116192625.GA447@linux.vnet.ibm.com>, but which lkml.org seems to have missed. These are at branch rcu/fixes. 9. Finally, a fix for an lockdep-RCU splat was posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/7/486. This is at rcu/next. 2012-11-30kbuild: centralize .dts->.dtb ruleStephen Warren1-7/+8
All architectures that use cmd_dtc do so in almost the same way. Create a central build rule to avoid duplication. The one difference is that most current uses of dtc build $(obj)/%.dtb from $(src)/dts/%.dts rather than building the .dtb in the same directory as the .dts file. This difference will be eliminated arch-by-arch in future patches. MIPS is the exception here; it already uses the exact same rule as the new common rule, so the duplicate is removed in this patch to avoid any conflict. arch/mips changes courtesy of Ralf Baechle. Update Documentation/kbuild to remove the explicit call to cmd_dtc from the example, now that the rule exists in a centralized location. The bus was invented by Lee Jones, let's show how it's to be used on a DT:ed SoC. - Fetch the special system controller offsets from two special device tree nodes for each case and replace the static mappings with these at boot. - Move some static remaps to the ATAG-only code path and delete some static maps that aren't used. - Push dependencies on system controller remaps down to the Integrator/AP board file and the PCIv3 driver respectively and use only dynamic remappings. - Fix up conditional BUG() usage in the PCIv3 driver to be simpler and more to the point. * tag 'integrator-for-arm-soc' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-integrator: ARM: integrator: use BUG_ON where possible ARM: integrator: push down SC dependencies ARM: integrator: delete static UART1 mapping ARM: integrator: delete SC mapping on the CP ARM: integrator: remove static CP syscon mapping ARM: integrator: remove static AP syscon mapping ARM: integrator: hook the CP into the SoC bus ARM: integrator: hook the AP into the SoC bus Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

2012-11-22netprio_cgroup: allow nesting and inherit config on cgroup creationTejun Heo1-0/+2
Inherit netprio configuration from ->css_online(), allow nesting and remove .broken_hierarchy marking. This makes netprio_cgroup's behavior match netcls_cgroup's. Note that this patch changes userland-visible behavior. In current code the ethernet PLL is not handled correctly. The PLL runs at 500MHz and has different outputs. Only the enet reference clock is implemented. This patch changes the PLL so that it outputs 500MHz and adds the additional outputs as dividers. This now matches the datasheet which says: > This PLL synthesizes a low jitter clock from 24 MHz reference clock. > The PLL outputs a 500 MHz clock. The reference clocks generated by this PLL are: > • Ref_PCIe = 125 MHz > • Ref_SATA = 100 MHz > • Ref_ethernet, which is configurable based on the PLL_ENET[1:0] register field. 2012-11-20PM / devfreq: Add sysfs node to expose available governorsNishanth Menon1-0/+7
Now that governor list can be variable, knowing the available governors is useful to be able to select a governor using relevant sysfs node. 2012-11-20PM / devfreq: allow sysfs governor node to switch governorNishanth Menon1-1/+1
This allows us to select governor runtime from the default configuration without having to rebuild kernel or the devfreq driver using the sysfs node: /sys/class/devfreq/.../governor cat of the governor will return valid governor and an echo 'governor_name'>governor will switch governor Cc: Rajagopal Venkat <rajagopal.venkat@linaro.org> Cc: MyungJoo Ham <myungjoo.ham@samsung.com> Cc: Kyungmin Park <kyungmin.park@samsung.com> Cc: "Rafael J. 2012-11-20PM / devfreq: Add sysfs node for representing frequency transition information.Jonghwa Lee1-0/+11
This patch adds sysfs node which can be used to get information of frequency transition. It represents transition table which contains total number of transition of each freqeuncy state and time spent. It is inspired CPUFREQ's status driver. 2012-11-20PM / devfreq: Add sysfs node to expose available frequenciesNishanth Menon1-0/+9
devfreq governors such as ondemand are controlled by a min and max frequency, while governors like userspace governor allow us to set a specific frequency. However, for the same specific device, depending on the SoC, the available frequencies can vary. So expose the available frequencies as a snapshot over sysfs to allow informed decisions. This was inspired by cpufreq framework's equivalent for similar usage sysfs node: scaling_available_frequencies. 2012-11-20Add support for generic BCM SoC chipsetsChristian Daudt1-0/+9
In order to start upstreaming Broadcom SoC support, create a starting hierarchy, arch and dts files. The first support SoC family that is planned is the BCM281XX (BCM11130/11140/11351/28145/28155) family of dual A9 mobile SoC cores. This code is just the skeleton code for get the machine upstreamed. It has been made MULTIPLATFORM compatible. Next steps ---------- Upstream a basic set of drivers - sufficient for a console boot to ramdisk. These will includer timer, gpio, i2c drivers. After this basic set, we will proceed with a more comprehensive set of drivers for the 281XX SoC family. v2 patch mods -------- - Remove l2x0_of_init call as there were problems with the code. A separate patch will be submitted with cache init code - Rename capri files and refs to bcm281xx-based names - Add bcm281xx binding doc - various misc cleanups v3 patch mods ------------- - Remove extra #include lines - Remove remaining references to capri - dt uart chipset string added - cleaned up chip # references v4 patch mods ------------- - swap order of compatible definitions for uart - fix typo v5 patch mods ------------- - Rename bcm281xx to bcm11351 in dts+code, leaving references to bcm281xx only in help+comments. v6 patch mods ------------- - fix typo in uart 'compatible' string Signed-off-by: Christian Daudt <csd@broadcom.com> Reviewed-by: Stephen Warren <swarren@nvidia.com> Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>

2012-11-20of/net/mdio-gpio: Fix pdev->id issue when using devicetrees.Srinivas Kandagatla1-1/+8
When the mdio-gpio driver is probed via device trees, the platform device id is set as -1, However the pdev->id is re-used as bus-id for while creating mdio gpio bus. So For device tree case the mdio-gpio bus name appears as "gpio-ffffffff" where as for non-device tree case the bus name appears as "gpio-<bus-num>" Which means the bus_id is fixed in device tree case, so we can't have two mdio gpio buses via device trees. Assigning a logical bus number via device tree solves the problem and the bus name is much consistent with non-device tree bus name. Without this patch 1. we can't support two mdio-gpio buses via device trees. 2. we should always pass gpio-ffffffff as bus name to phy_connect, very different to non-device tree bus name. So, setting up the bus_id via aliases from device tree is the right solution and other drivers do similar thing. 2012-11-19cgroup, cpuset: remove cgroup_subsys->post_clone()Tejun Heo1-8/+0
Currently CGRP_CPUSET_CLONE_CHILDREN triggers ->post_clone(). Now that clone_children is cpuset specific, there's no reason to have this rather odd option activation mechanism in cgroup core. cpuset can check the flag from its ->css_allocate() and take the necessary action. Move cpuset_post_clone() logic to the end of cpuset_css_alloc() and remove cgroup_subsys->post_clone(). Loosely based on Glauber's "generalize post_clone into post_create" patch.
