We can now boot with device tree. If you don't want to update u-boot, you can boot with appended DTB with the following instructions: 1. Make sure you have the appended DTB support in .config CONFIG_ARM_APPENDED_DTB=y CONFIG_ARM_ATAG_DTB_COMPAT=y CONFIG_ARM_ATAG_DTB_COMPAT_CMDLINE_EXTEND=y 2. Build the zImage $ ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=... make zImage 3. Build the device tree blobs $ ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=... make dtbs 4. Append the dtb to zImage $ cat arch/arm/boot/zImage arch/arm/boot/dts/omap4-sdp.dtb > /tmp/appended 5. After the device names are created using PLATFORM_DEVID_AUTO, the old device names given in usb_bind_phy are no longer valid causing the musb controller not to get the phy reference. Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems. The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes basically touch every single platform in the process. We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here, with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being "multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their headers to architecture independent code any more. It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup. This is w.r.t the changes in PHY library to support adding and getting multiple PHYs of the same type. 2013-01-22ARM: OMAP: board-4430sdp: Proper support for TWL6030 PWM LED/BacklightPeter Ujfalusi1-1/+29
New PWM drivers are being prepared for twl series which will enable the use of all PWMs (PWMs and LEDs). They are implemented as generic PWM drivers to be able to use them for different purposes. The current platform code was broken: the leds_pwm driver was not able to pick up the PWM since the pwm_id was incorrect. 2012-12-24ARM: delete struct sys_timerStephen Warren1-1/+1
Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct, and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization function itself. This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init() function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at: http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg. 2012-11-08OMAP: omap4sdp: move display init from board file to dss-common.cTomi Valkeinen1-156/+1
Device tree support for omapdss is still some way in the future. In an effort to get a minimal DSS support for DT enabled kernel on selected OMAP4 boards, we'll go for a temporary solution: We will call the same non-DT omapdss setup code for OMAP4 SDP and Pandaboards from board-generic.c, thus enabling DSS for those boards. This patch moves the display setup code from board-4430sdp.c to dss-common.c. dss-common.c will be called by the board-4430sdp.c when running on non-DT kernel, and by board-generic.c when running on DT enabled kernel. 2012-09-13ARM: OMAP: Split plat/hardware.h, use local soc.h for omap2+Tony Lindgren1-1/+1
As the plat and mach includes need to disappear for single zImage work, we need to remove plat/hardware.h. Do this by splitting plat/hardware.h into omap1 and omap2+ specific files. The old plat/hardware.h already has omap1 only defines, so it gets moved to mach/hardware.h for omap1. For omap2+, we use the local soc.h that for now just includes the related SoC headers to keep this patch more readable. Note that the local soc.h still includes plat/cpu.h that can be dealt with in later patches. Let's also include plat/serial.h from common.h for all the board-*.c files. This allows making the include files local later on without patching these files again. Note that only minimal changes are done in this patch for the drivers/watchdog/omap_wdt.c driver to keep things compiling. Further patches are needed to eventually remove cpu_is_omap usage in the drivers. Also only minimal changes are done to sound/soc/omap/* to remove the unneeded includes and to define OMAP44XX_MCPDM_L3_BASE locally so there's no need to include omap44xx.h. While at it, also sort some of the includes in the standard way. 2012-09-13ARM: OMAP2+: Prepare for irqs.h removalTony Lindgren1-1/+1
As the interrupts should only be defined in the platform_data, and eventually coming from device tree, there's no need to define them in header files. Let's remove the hardcoded references to irqs.h and fix up the includes so we don't rely on headers included in irqs.h. Note that we're defining OMAP_INTC_START as 0 to the interrupts. This will be needed when we enable SPARSE_IRQ. For some drivers we need to add #include <plat/cpu.h> for now until these drivers are fixed to remove cpu_is_omapxxxx() usage. While at it, sort som of the includes the standard way, and add the trailing commas where they are missing in the related data structures. We currently manage HDMI GPIOs in the board files via platform_enable/disable calls. This won't work with device tree, and in any case the correct place to manage the GPIOs is in the HDMI driver. This patch moves the handling of the GPIOs to the HDMI driver. The GPIO handling is moved to the common hdmi.c file, and this probably needs to be revisited when adding OMAP5 HDMI support to see if the GPIO handling needs to be moved to IP specific files. 2012-05-09OMAPDSS: DSI: implement generic DSI pin configTomi Valkeinen1-13/+8
In preparation for device tree, this patch changes how the DSI pins are configured. The current configuration method is only doable with board files and the configuration data is OMAP specific. This patch moves the configuration data to the panel's platform data, and the data can easily be given via DT in the future. The configuration data format is also changed to a generic one which should be suitable for all platforms. The new format is an array of pin numbers, where the array items start from clock + and -, then data1 + and -, and so on. For example: { 0, // pin num for clock lane + 1, // pin num for clock lane - 2, // pin num for data1 lane + 3, // pin num for data1 lane - ... } The pin numbers are translated by the DSI driver and used to configure the hardware appropriately.
