2019-03-28KVM: export <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h> iif KVM is supportedMasahiro Yamada1-1/+0
I do not see any consistency about headers_install of <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h>. According to my analysis of Linux 5.1-rc1, there are 3 groups: [1] Both <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h> are exported alpha, arm, hexagon, mips, powerpc, s390, sparc, x86 [2] <asm/kvm_para.h> is exported, but <linux/kvm_para.h> is not arc, arm64, c6x, h8300, ia64, m68k, microblaze, nios2, openrisc, parisc, sh, unicore32, xtensa [3] Neither <linux/kvm_para.h> nor <asm/kvm_para.h> is exported csky, nds32, riscv This does not match to the actual KVM support. At least, [2] is half-baked. Nor do arch maintainers look like they care about this. For example, commit 0add53713b1c ("microblaze: Add missing kvm_para.h to Kbuild") exported <asm/kvm_para.h> to user-space in order to fix an in-kernel build error. We have two ways to make this consistent: [A] export both <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h> for all architectures, irrespective of the KVM support [B] Match the header export of <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h> to the KVM support My first attempt was [A] because the code looks cleaner, but Paolo suggested [B]. So, this commit goes with [B]. For most architectures, <asm/kvm_para.h> was moved to the kernel-space. I changed include/uapi/linux/Kbuild so that it checks generated asm/kvm_para.h as well as check-in ones. After this commit, there will be two groups: [1] Both <linux/kvm_para.h> and <asm/kvm_para.h> are exported arm, arm64, mips, powerpc, s390, x86 [2] Neither <linux/kvm_para.h> nor <asm/kvm_para.h> is exported alpha, arc, c6x, csky, h8300, hexagon, ia64, m68k, microblaze, nds32, nios2, openrisc, parisc, riscv, sh, sparc, unicore32, xtensa Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com> Acked-by: Cornelia Huck <cohuck@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>
2019-03-17kbuild: force all architectures except um to include mandatory-yMasahiro Yamada1-2/+0
Currently, every arch/*/include/uapi/asm/Kbuild explicitly includes the common Kbuild.asm file. Factor out the duplicated include directives to scripts/Makefile.asm-generic so that no architecture would opt out of the mandatory-y mechanism. um is not forced to include mandatory-y since it is a very exceptional case which does not support UAPI. 2019-02-02arch: unexport asm/shmparam.h for all architecturesMasahiro Yamada1-1/+0

Digging into the git history, now I guess fcc8487d477a ("uapi: export all headers under uapi directories") was the misconversion. Prior to that commit, no architecture exported to shmparam.h As its commit description said, that commit exported shmparam.h for c6x, h8300, hexagon, m68k, openrisc, unicore32. 83f0124ad81e ("microblaze: remove asm-generic wrapper headers") accidentally exported shmparam.h for microblaze. This commit unexports shmparam.h for those architectures. There is no more reason to export include/uapi/asm-generic/shmparam.h, so it has been moved to include/asm-generic/shmparam.h Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/1546904307-11124-1-git-send-email-yamada.masahiro@socionext.com Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com> Acked-by: Stafford Horne <shorne@gmail.com> Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Cc: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu> Cc: Yoshinori Sato <ysato@users.sourceforge.jp> Cc: Richard Kuo <rkuo@codeaurora.org> Cc: Guan Xuetao <gxt@pku.edu.cn> Cc: Nicolas Dichtel <nicolas.dichtel@6wind.com> Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Cc: Aurelien Jacquiot <jacquiot.aurelien@gmail.com> Cc: Greentime Hu <green.hu@gmail.com> Cc: Guo Ren <guoren@kernel.org> Cc: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@sifive.com> Cc: Stefan Kristiansson <stefan.kristiansson@saunalahti.fi> Cc: Mark Salter <msalter@redhat.com> Cc: Albert Ou <aou@eecs.berkeley.edu> Cc: Jonas Bonn <jonas@southpole.se> Cc: Vincent Chen <deanbo422@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

These comments are leftovers of commit fcc8487d477a ("uapi: export all headers under uapi directories"). Prior to that commit, exported headers must be explicitly added to header-y. 2018-11-16microblaze: generate uapi header and system call table filesFiroz Khan2-410/+2
System call table generation script must be run to gener- ate unistd_32.h and syscall_table.h files. This patch will have changes which will invokes the script. This patch will generate unistd_32.h and syscall_table.h files by the syscall table generation script invoked by microblaze/Makefile and the generated files against the removed files must be identical. The generated uapi header file will be included in uapi/- asm/unistd.h and generated system call table header file will be included by kernel/syscall_table.S file. 2018-11-16microblaze: move __NR_syscalls macro from asm/unistd.hFiroz Khan1-0/+4
__NR_syscalls holds the number of system call exist in microblaze architecture. We have to change the value of __NR_syscalls, if we add or delete a system call. One of the patch in this patch series has a script which will generate a uapi header based on syscall.tbl file. The syscall.tbl file contains the total number of system calls information. So we have two option to update __NR- _syscalls value. 1. Update __NR_syscalls in asm/unistd.h manually by count- ing the no.of system calls. No need to update NR_sys- calls until we either add a new system call or delete existing system call. 2. We can keep this feature it above mentioned script, that will count the number of syscalls and keep it in a generated file. In this case we don't need to expli- citly update __NR_syscalls in asm/unistd.h file. The 2nd option will be the recommended one. For that, I moved the __NR_syscalls macro from asm/unistd.h to uapi- /asm/unistd.h. While __NR_syscalls isn't strictly part of the uapi, having it as part of the generated header to simplifies the implementation. We also need to enclose this macro with #ifdef __KERNEL__ to avoid side effects. Signed-off-by: Firoz Khan <firoz.khan@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <michal.simek@xilinx.com>

2017-12-05bpf: correct broken uapi for BPF_PROG_TYPE_PERF_EVENT program typeHendrik Brueckner1-0/+1
Commit 0515e5999a466dfe ("bpf: introduce BPF_PROG_TYPE_PERF_EVENT program type") introduced the bpf_perf_event_data structure which exports the pt_regs structure. This is OK for multiple architectures but fail for s390 and arm64 which do not export pt_regs. Programs using them, for example, the bpf selftest fail to compile on these architectures. For s390, exporting the pt_regs is not an option because s390 wants to allow changes to it. For arm64, there is a user_pt_regs structure that covers parts of the pt_regs structure for use by user space. To solve the broken uapi for s390 and arm64, introduce an abstract type for pt_regs and add an asm/bpf_perf_event.h file that concretes the type. An asm-generic header file covers the architectures that export pt_regs today. The arch-specific enablement for s390 and arm64 follows in separate commits. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with a licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman5-0/+5
Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license. Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was chosen based on the license information in the file. GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall exception: NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work". This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL code, without confusing license compliance tools. Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format is: ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE) SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will happen in a separate step. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the methodology of how this patch was researched. license Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default are files without license information under the default license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception which is in the kernels COPYING file: NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work". otherwise syscall usage would not be possible. 2017-07-09microblaze: move generic-y of exported headers to uapi/asm/KbuildMasahiro Yamada1-1/+24
Since commit fcc8487d477a ("uapi: export all headers under uapi directories"), all (and only) headers under uapi directories are exported, but asm-generic wrappers are still exceptions. To complete de-coupling the uapi from kernel headers, move generic-y of exported headers to uapi/asm/Kbuild. With this change, "make headers_install" will just need to parse uapi/asm/Kbuild to build up exported headers. For microblaze, "generic-y += siginfo.h" is doubled in asm/Kbuild and uapi/asm/Kbuild. So, the one in the former can be simply removed. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com>

2017-05-29microblaze: remove asm-generic wrapper headersTobias Klauser23-23/+0
Some of microblaze's asm and uapi header are merely including their asm-generic counterpart. Thus, the arch specific headers can be removed and the asm-generic header can be used directly via generic-y. The headers removed from uapi don't need to be added to generic-y in the uapi Kbuild in order to get exported, as they are already listed in mandatory-y. Also order the generic-y list alphabetically.
