2024-03-07arch/powerpc: Remove <linux/fb.h> from backlight codeThomas Zimmermann1-26/+0
Replace <linux/fb.h> with a forward declaration in <asm/backlight.h> to resolve an unnecessary dependency. Remove pmac_backlight_curve_lookup() and struct fb_info from source and header files. The function and the framebuffer struct are unused. No functional changes. v3: * Add Fixes tag (Christophe) * fix typos in commit message (Jani) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Fixes: d565dd3b0824 ("[PATCH] powerpc: More via-pmu backlight fixes") Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Acked-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> # (powerpc) Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240306122935.10626-4-tzimmermann@suse.de
2024-03-03powerpc/32: fix ADB_CUDA kconfig warningMichael Ellerman1-1/+1

2024-02-21powerpc: Remove duplicate/unnecessary ifdefsShrikanth Hegde1-2/+0
When an ifdef is used in the below manner, second one could be considered as duplicate. ifdef DEFINE_A ...code block... ifdef DEFINE_A <-- This is a duplicate. ...code block... endif else ifndef DEFINE_A <-- This is also duplicate. ...code block... endif endif More details about the script and methods used to find these code patterns are in cover letter of [1]. Few places in arch/powerpc where this pattern was seen: paca.h: Hunk1: Code is under check of CONFIG_PPC64 from line 13, hence the second CONFIG_PPC64 at line 166 is a duplicate. Hunk2: CONFIG_PPC_BOOK3S_64 was defined back to back. Merged the two ifdefs. asm-offsets.c: Code is under check of CONFIG_PPC64 from line 176 hence second CONFIG_PPC64 at line 249 is a duplicate. powermac/feature.c: #ifndef CONFIG_PPC64 is used at line 2066. And then in #else again #ifdef CONFIG_PPC64 is used. Which is a duplicate since in #else means CONFIG_PPC64 is defined. xmon.c: Code is under the check of CONFIG_SMP from line 521 hence the same check of CONFIG_SMP at line 646 is a duplicate. No functional change is intended here. It only aims to improve code readability. 2023-08-02powerpc/powermac: Use early_* IO variants in via_calibrate_decr()Benjamin Gray1-3/+3
On a powermac platform, via the call path: start_kernel() time_init() ppc_md.calibrate_decr() (pmac_calibrate_decr) via_calibrate_decr() ioremap() and iounmap() are called. The unmap can enable interrupts unexpectedly (cond_resched() in vunmap_pmd_range()), which causes a warning later in the boot sequence in start_kernel(). Use the early_* variants of these IO functions to prevent this. The issue is pre-existing, but is surfaced by commit 721255b9826b ("genirq: Use a maple tree for interrupt descriptor management"). 2023-08-02powerpc: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring1-1/+1
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2022-05-04powerpc: use strscpy to replace strlcpyJason Wang1-1/+1
The strlcpy should not be used because it doesn't limit the source length. As linus says, it's a completely useless function if you can't implicitly trust the source string - but that is almost always why people think they should use it! All in all the BSD function will lead some potential bugs. But the strscpy doesn't require reading memory from the src string beyond the specified "count" bytes, and since the return value is easier to error-check than strlcpy()'s. In addition, the implementation is robust to the string changing out from underneath it, unlike the current strlcpy() implementation. Thus, We prefer using strscpy instead of strlcpy. 2021-12-23powerpc/mm: Switch obsolete dssall to .longAlexey Kardashevskiy1-2/+2
The dssall ("Data Stream Stop All") instruction is obsolete altogether with other Data Cache Instructions since ISA 2.03 (year 2006). LLVM IAS does not support it but PPC970 seems to be using it. 2021-12-23cuda/pmu: Make find_via_cuda/pmu init functionsNick Child1-2/+2
Make `find_via_cuda` and `find_via_pmu` initialization functions. Previously, their definitions in `drivers/macintosh/via-cuda.h` include the `__init` attribute but their alternative definitions in `arch/powerpc/powermac/sectup./c` and prototypes in `include/linux/ cuda.h` and `include/linux/pmu.h` do not use the `__init` macro. Since, only initialization functions call `find_via_cuda` and `find_via_pmu` it is safe to label these functions with `__init`.
