When expanding the la or dla pseudo-instruction in a delay slot the GNU assembler will complain should the pseudo-instruction expand to multiple actual instructions, since only the first of them will be in the delay slot leading to the pseudo-instruction being only partially executed if the branch is taken. commit 23ca9b522383d3b9b7991d8586db30118992af4a upstream. kernelci reports a failure of the ip28_defconfig build after upgrading its gcc version: arch/mips/sgi-ip22/Platform:29: *** gcc doesn't support needed option -mr10k-cache-barrier=store. Stop. The problem apparently is that the -mr10k-cache-barrier=store option is now rejected for CPUs other than r10k. Explicitly including the CPU in the check fixes this and is safe because both options were introduced in gcc-4.4. One of the last remaining failures in kernelci.org is for a gcc bug: drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_main.c:4819:1: error: insn does not satisfy its constraints: drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_main.c:4819:1: internal compiler error: in extract_constrain_insn, at recog.c:2190 This is apparently broken in gcc-6 but fixed in gcc-7, and I cannot reproduce the problem here. However, it is clear that ip27_defconfig does not actually need this driver as the platform has only PCI-X but not PCIe, and the qlge adapter in turn is PCIe-only. 2017-04-18KVM: s390: Fix guest migration for huge guests resulting in panicJanosch Frank1-1/+18
commit 2e4d88009f57057df7672fa69a32b5224af54d37 upstream. While we can technically not run huge page guests right now, we can setup a guest with huge pages. Trying to migrate it will trigger a VM_BUG_ON and, if the kernel is not configured to panic on a BUG, it will happily try to work on non-existing page table entries. With this patch, we always return "dirty" if we encounter a large page when migrating. This at least fixes the immediate problem until we have proper handling for both kind of pages. 2017-04-18s390: use correct input data address for setup_randomnessHeiko Carstens1-1/+1

The current implementation of setup_randomness uses the stack address and therefore the pointer to the SYSIB 3.2.2 block as input data address. Furthermore the length of the input data is the number of virtual-machine description blocks which is typically one. This means that typically a single zero byte is fed to add_device_randomness. Fix both of these and use the address of the first virtual machine description block as input data address and also use the correct length. Commit bcfcbb6bae64 ("s390: add system information as device randomness") intended to add some virtual machine specific information to the randomness pool. Unfortunately it uses the page allocator before it is ready to use. In result the page allocator always returns NULL and the setup_randomness function never adds anything to the randomness pool. To fix this use memblock_alloc and memblock_free instead. commit 3a020a723c65eb8ffa7c237faca26521a024e582 upstream. ghash_clmulni_intel fails to load on Linux 4.3+ with the following message: "modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'ghash_clmulni_intel': Invalid argument" After 8996eafdc ("crypto: ahash - ensure statesize is non-zero") all ahash drivers are required to implement import()/export(), and must have a non- zero statesize. This patch has been tested with the algif_hash interface. The calculated digest values, after several rounds of import()s and export()s, match those calculated by tcrypt. 2017-04-18KVM: s390: Disable dirty log retrieval for UCONTROL guestsJanosch Frank1-0/+3
commit e1e8a9624f7ba8ead4f056ff558ed070e86fa747 upstream. User controlled KVM guests do not support the dirty log, as they have no single gmap that we can check for changes. As they have no single gmap, kvm->arch.gmap is NULL and all further referencing to it for dirty checking will result in a NULL dereference. Adding a cast to (u32) is a harmless way to shut up the warning, just not very nice. THIS IS UNTESTED. It's a very obvious patch, though, so if it compiles it probably works. It just initializes the output variable with 0 in the inline asm description, instead of doing it in the exception handler. It will generate slightly worse code (a few unnecessary ALU operations), but it doesn't have any interactions with the exception handler implementation. So add a CONFIG_PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS #undef line as well. Also remove the _ASM_X86_DESC_H quirk: that undocumented quirk was originally added ages ago, in: 099e1377269a ("x86: use ELF format in compressed images.") and I went back to that kernel (and fixed up the main Makefile which didn't build anymore) and checked what failure it avoided: it avoided an include file dependencies related build failure related to our old x86-platforms code. That old code is long gone, the header dependencies got cleaned up, and the build does not fail anymore with the totality of asm/desc.h included - so remove the quirk. However, the percpu allocator never supported alignments which are not power of two and has always behaved incorectly in thise case. Commit 3ca45a4 "percpu: ensure requested alignment is power of two" introduced a check which trigger a warning [1] when booting linux-next on Xen. But in reality this bug was always present. This can be fixed by replacing the call to __alloc_percpu with alloc_percpu. The latter will use an alignment which are a power of two. 2017-01-15KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Save/restore XER in checkpointed register statePaul Mackerras5-0/+13
[ Upstream commit 0d808df06a44200f52262b6eb72bcb6042f5a7c5 ] When switching from/to a guest that has a transaction in progress, we need to save/restore the checkpointed register state. Although XER is part of the CPU state that gets checkpointed, the code that does this saving and restoring doesn't save/restore XER. This fixes it by saving and restoring the XER. To allow userspace to read/write the checkpointed XER value, we also add a new ONE_REG specifier. The visible effect of this bug is that the guest may see its XER value being corrupted when it uses transactions. [ Upstream commit d248220f0465b818887baa9829e691fe662b2c5e ] Since commit 6ce0d2001692 ("ARM: dma: Use dma_pfn_offset for dma address translation"), dma_to_pfn() already returns the PFN with the physical memory start offset so we don't need to add it again. This fixes USB mass storage lock-up problem on systems that can't do DMA over the entire physical memory range (e.g.) Keystone 2 systems with 4GB RAM can only do DMA over the first 2GB. [K2E-EVM]. What happens there is that without this patch SCSI layer sets a wrong bounce buffer limit in scsi_calculate_bounce_limit() for the USB mass storage device. dma_max_pfn() evaluates to 0x8fffff and bounce_limit is set to 0x8fffff000 whereas maximum DMA'ble physical memory on Keystone 2 is 0x87fffffff. This results in non DMA'ble pages being given to the USB controller and hence the lock-up. NOTE: in the above case, USB-SCSI-device's dma_pfn_offset was showing as 0. This should have really been 0x780000 as on K2e, LOWMEM_START is 0x80000000 and HIGHMEM_START is 0x800000000. DMA zone is 2GB so dma_max_pfn should be 0x87ffff. The incorrect dma_pfn_offset for the USB storage device is because USB devices are not correctly inheriting the dma_pfn_offset from the USB host controller. This will be fixed by a separate patch. [ Upstream commit 6ed518328d0189e0fdf1bb7c73290d546143ea66 ] We have one critical section in the syscall entry path in which we switch from the userspace stack to kernel stack. In the event of an external interrupt, the interrupt code distinguishes between those two states by analyzing the value of sr7. If sr7 is zero, it uses the kernel stack. Therefore it's important, that the value of sr7 is in sync with the currently enabled stack. This patch now disables interrupts while executing the critical section. This prevents the interrupt handler to possibly see an inconsistent state which in the worst case can lead to crashes. Interestingly, in the syscall exit path interrupts were already disabled in the critical section which switches back to the userspace stack. If both bits are set however we should be returning from ERL first, as ERL can interrupt EXL, for example when an NMI is taken. KVM however checks EXL first. [ Upstream commit 80f23935cadb1c654e81951f5a8b7ceae0acc1b4 ] PowerPC's "cmp" instruction has four operands. Normally people write "cmpw" or "cmpd" for the second cmp operand 0 or 1. But, frequently people forget, and write "cmp" with just three operands. With older binutils this is silently accepted as if this was "cmpw", while often "cmpd" is wanted. With newer binutils GAS will complain about this for 64-bit code. For 32-bit code it still silently assumes "cmpw" is what is meant. In this instance the code comes directly from ISA v2.07, including the cmp, but cmpd is correct. Backport to stable so that new toolchains can build old kernels. Native returns the full flags, while lguest and Xen only return the Interrupt Flag, and both have comments by the implementations stating that only the Interrupt Flag is looked at. This may have been true when initially implemented, but no longer is. To make matters worse, the Xen PVOP leaves the upper bits undefined, making the BUG_ON() undefined behaviour. Experimentally, this now trips for 32bit PV guests on Broadwell hardware. The BUG_ON() is consistent for an individual build, but not consistent for all builds. It has also been a sitting timebomb since SMAP support was introduced. Use native_save_fl() instead, which will obtain an accurate view of the AC flag. The primary build failure is arch/hexagon/include/asm/cacheflush.h: In function 'copy_to_user_page': arch/hexagon/include/asm/cacheflush.h:89:22: error: 'VM_EXEC' undeclared This is the result of including of <linux/io.h> from <linux/irq.h>, which is now necessary due to the use of readl and writel from irq.h. This causes recursive inclusions in hexagon code; cacheflush.h is included from mm.h prior to the definition of VM_EXEC. Fix the problem by moving copy_to_user_page from the hexagon include file to arch/hexagon/mm/cache.c, similar to other architectures. After this change, several redefinitions of readl and writel are reported. Those are caused by recursive inclusions of io.h and asm/cacheflush.h. Fix those problems by reducing the number of files included from those files. Also, it was necessary to stop including asm-generic/cacheflush.h from asm/cacheflush.h. Instead, functionality originally provided by asm-generic/cacheflush.h is now coded in asm/cacheflush.h directly.
