2020-11-20crypto: sha - split sha.h into sha1.h and sha2.hEric Biggers1-1/+1
Currently <crypto/sha.h> contains declarations for both SHA-1 and SHA-2, and <crypto/sha3.h> contains declarations for SHA-3. This organization is inconsistent, but more importantly SHA-1 is no longer considered to be cryptographically secure. So to the extent possible, SHA-1 shouldn't be grouped together with any of the other SHA versions, and usage of it should be phased out. Therefore, split <crypto/sha.h> into two headers <crypto/sha1.h> and <crypto/sha2.h>, and make everyone explicitly specify whether they want the declarations for SHA-1, SHA-2, or both. This avoids making the SHA-1 declarations visible to files that don't want anything to do with SHA-1. It also prepares for potentially moving sha1.h into a new insecure/ or dangerous/ directory. 2020-05-08crypto: lib/sha1 - fold linux/cryptohash.h into crypto/sha.hEric Biggers1-1/+0
<linux/cryptohash.h> sounds very generic and important, like it's the header to include if you're doing cryptographic hashing in the kernel. But actually it only includes the library implementation of the SHA-1 compression function (not even the full SHA-1). This should basically never be used anymore; SHA-1 is no longer considered secure, and there are much better ways to do cryptographic hashing in the kernel. Remove this header and fold it into <crypto/sha.h> which already contains constants and functions for SHA-1 (along with SHA-2). 2020-05-08crypto: lib/sha1 - rename "sha" to "sha1"Eric Biggers1-2/+2
The library implementation of the SHA-1 compression function is confusingly called just "sha_transform()". Alongside it are some "SHA_" constants and "sha_init()". Presumably these are left over from a time when SHA just meant SHA-1. But now there are also SHA-2 and SHA-3, and moreover SHA-1 is now considered insecure and thus shouldn't be used. Therefore, rename these functions and constants to make it very clear that they are for SHA-1. Also add a comment to make it clear that these shouldn't be used. For the extra-misleadingly named "SHA_MESSAGE_BYTES", rename it to SHA1_BLOCK_SIZE and define it to just '64' rather than '(512/8)' so that it matches the same definition in <crypto/sha.h>. This prepares for merging <linux/cryptohash.h> into <crypto/sha.h>. Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <ebiggers@google.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>

2019-04-18crypto: run initcalls for generic implementations earlierEric Biggers1-1/+1
Use subsys_initcall for registration of all templates and generic algorithm implementations, rather than module_init. Then change cryptomgr to use arch_initcall, to place it before the subsys_initcalls. This is needed so that when both a generic and optimized implementation of an algorithm are built into the kernel (not loadable modules), the generic implementation is registered before the optimized one. Otherwise, the self-tests for the optimized implementation are unable to allocate the generic implementation for the new comparison fuzz tests. Note that on arm, a side effect of this change is that self-tests for generic implementations may run before the unaligned access handler has been installed. So, unaligned accesses will crash the kernel. This is arguably a good thing as it makes it easier to detect that type of bug. 2018-07-08crypto: shash - remove useless setting of type flagsEric Biggers1-1/+0
Many shash algorithms set .cra_flags = CRYPTO_ALG_TYPE_SHASH. But this is redundant with the C structure type ('struct shash_alg'), and crypto_register_shash() already sets the type flag automatically, clearing any type flag that was already there. Apparently the useless assignment has just been copy+pasted around. So, remove the useless assignment from all the shash algorithms. This patch shouldn't change any actual behavior. 2018-07-08crypto: sha1_generic - add cra_priorityEric Biggers1-0/+1
sha1-generic had a cra_priority of 0, so it wasn't possible to have a lower priority SHA-1 implementation, as is desired for sha1_mb which is only useful under certain workloads and is otherwise extremely slow. Change it to priority 100, which is the priority used for many of the other generic algorithms. 2015-12-22crypto: hash - add zero length message hash for shax and md5LABBE Corentin1-0/+7
Some crypto drivers cannot process empty data message and return a precalculated hash for md5/sha1/sha224/sha256. This patch add thoses precalculated hash in include/crypto. Signed-off-by: LABBE Corentin <clabbe.montjoie@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2015-04-10crypto: sha1-generic - move to generic glue implementationArd Biesheuvel1-82/+20
This updated the generic SHA-1 implementation to use the generic shared SHA-1 glue code. It also implements a .finup hook crypto_sha1_finup() and exports it to other modules. The import and export() functions and the .statesize member are dropped, since the default implementation is perfectly suitable for this module. 2015-01-13crypto: add missing crypto module aliasesMathias Krause1-0/+1
Commit 5d26a105b5a7 ("crypto: prefix module autoloading with "crypto-"") changed the automatic module loading when requesting crypto algorithms to prefix all module requests with "crypto-". This requires all crypto modules to have a crypto specific module alias even if their file name would otherwise match the requested crypto algorithm. Even though commit 5d26a105b5a7 added those aliases for a vast amount of modules, it was missing a few. Add the required MODULE_ALIAS_CRYPTO annotations to those files to make them get loaded automatically, again. This fixes, e.g., requesting 'ecb(blowfish-generic)', which used to work with kernels v3.18 and below. Also change MODULE_ALIAS() lines to MODULE_ALIAS_CRYPTO(). The former won't work for crypto modules any more. 2014-10-17crypto: memzero_explicit - make sure to clear out sensitive dataDaniel Borkmann1-1/+1
Recently, in commit 13aa93c70e71 ("random: add and use memzero_explicit() for clearing data"), we have found that GCC may optimize some memset() cases away when it detects a stack variable is not being used anymore and going out of scope. This can happen, for example, in cases when we are clearing out sensitive information such as keying material or any e.g. intermediate results from crypto computations, etc. With the help of Coccinelle, we can figure out and fix such occurences in the crypto subsytem as well. Julia Lawall provided the following Coccinelle program: @@ type T; identifier x; @@ T x; ... when exists when any -memset +memzero_explicit (&x, -0, ...) ... when != x when strict @@ type T; identifier x; @@ T x[...]; ... when exists when any -memset +memzero_explicit (x, -0, ...) ... when != x when strict Therefore, make use of the drop-in replacement memzero_explicit() for exactly such cases instead of using memset(). 2011-08-10crypto: sha1 - export sha1_update for reuseMathias Krause1-4/+5
Export the update function as crypto_sha1_update() to not have the need to reimplement the same algorithm for each SHA-1 implementation. This way the generic SHA-1 implementation can be used as fallback for other implementations that fail to run under certain circumstances, like the need for an FPU context while executing in IRQ context. 2007-11-02cleanup asm/scatterlist.h includesAdrian Bunk1-1/+0

2007-10-11[CRYPTO] sha: Load the SHA[1|256] module by an aliasSebastian Siewior1-0/+142
Loading the crypto algorithm by the alias instead of by module directly has the advantage that all possible implementations of this algorithm are loaded automatically and the crypto API can choose the best one depending on its priority. Additionally it ensures that the generic implementation as well as the HW driver (if available) is loaded in case the HW driver needs the generic version as fallback in corner cases. Also remove the probe for sha1 in padlock's init code. Quote from Herbert: The probe is actually pointless since we can always probe when the algorithm is actually used which does not lead to dead-locks like this.
