2024-06-12x86/numa: Fix SRAT lookup of CFMWS ranges with numa_fill_memblks()Robert Richter1-0/+5
[ Upstream commit f9f67e5adc8dc2e1cc51ab2d3d6382fa97f074d4 ] For configurations that have the kconfig option NUMA_KEEP_MEMINFO disabled, numa_fill_memblks() only returns with NUMA_NO_MEMBLK (-1). SRAT lookup fails then because an existing SRAT memory range cannot be found for a CFMWS address range. This causes the addition of a duplicate numa_memblk with a different node id and a subsequent page fault and kernel crash during boot. Fix this by making numa_fill_memblks() always available regardless of NUMA_KEEP_MEMINFO. As Dan suggested, the fix is implemented to remove numa_fill_memblks() from sparsemem.h and alos using __weak for the function. Note that the issue was initially introduced with [1]. But since phys_to_target_node() was originally used that returned the valid node 0, an additional numa_memblk was not added. 2024-05-02ACPI: CPPC: Fix access width used for PCC registersVanshidhar Konda1-16/+37
commit f489c948028b69cea235d9c0de1cc10eeb26a172 upstream. commit 2f4a4d63a193 ("ACPI: CPPC: Use access_width over bit_width for system memory accesses") modified cpc_read()/cpc_write() to use access_width to read CPC registers. However, for PCC registers the access width field in the ACPI register macro specifies the PCC subspace ID. For non-zero PCC subspace ID it is incorrectly treated as access width. This causes errors when reading from PCC registers in the CPPC driver. For PCC registers, base the size of read/write on the bit width field. The debug message in cpc_read()/cpc_write() is updated to print relevant information for the address space type used to read the register. After extended testing, we found that the firmware's implementation of S3 is buggy and intermittently fails to wake up the system. We need to revert to s2idle mode. 2024-02-05ACPI: APEI: set memory failure flags as MF_ACTION_REQUIRED on synchronous eventsShuai Xue1-6/+23
[ Upstream commit a70297d2213253853e95f5b49651f924990c6d3b ] There are two major types of uncorrected recoverable (UCR) errors : - Synchronous error: The error is detected and raised at the point of the consumption in the execution flow, e.g. when a CPU tries to access a poisoned cache line. The CPU will take a synchronous error exception such as Synchronous External Abort (SEA) on Arm64 and Machine Check Exception (MCE) on X86. OS requires to take action (for example, offline failure page/kill failure thread) to recover this uncorrectable error. - Asynchronous error: The error is detected out of processor execution context, e.g. when an error is detected by a background scrubber. Some data in the memory are corrupted. But the data have not been consumed. OS is optional to take action to recover this uncorrectable error. When APEI firmware first is enabled, a platform may describe one error source for the handling of synchronous errors (e.g. MCE or SEA notification ), or for handling asynchronous errors (e.g. SCI or External Interrupt notification). In other words, we can distinguish synchronous errors by APEI notification. For synchronous errors, kernel will kill the current process which accessing the poisoned page by sending SIGBUS with BUS_MCEERR_AR. In addition, for asynchronous errors, kernel will notify the process who owns the poisoned page by sending SIGBUS with BUS_MCEERR_AO in early kill mode. However, the GHES driver always sets mf_flags to 0 so that all synchronous errors are handled as asynchronous errors in memory failure. To this end, set memory failure flags as MF_ACTION_REQUIRED on synchronous events. To know if the buffer was too small, the returned value needs to be compared with the length of the passed buffer. If it is greater or equal, the output has been truncated, so add checks for the truncation to create_pnp_modalias() and create_of_modalias(). Also make them return -ENOMEM in that case, as they already do that elsewhere. Moreover, the remaining size of the buffer used by snprintf() needs to be updated after the first write to avoid out-of-bounds access as already done correctly in create_pnp_modalias(), but not in create_of_modalias(), so change the latter accordingly. 2023-11-20ACPI/NUMA: Apply SRAT proximity domain to entire CFMWS windowAlison Schofield1-3/+8
[ Upstream commit 8f1004679987302b155f14b966ca6d4335814fcb ] Commit fd49f99c1809 ("ACPI: NUMA: Add a node and memblk for each CFMWS not in SRAT") did not account for the case where the BIOS only partially describes a CFMWS Window in the SRAT. That means the omitted address ranges, of a partially described CFMWS Window, do not get assigned to a NUMA node. Replace the call to phys_to_target_node() with numa_add_memblks(). Numa_add_memblks() searches an HPA range for existing memblk(s) and extends those memblk(s) to fill the entire CFMWS Window. Extending the existing memblks is a simple strategy that reuses SRAT defined proximity domains from part of a window to fill out the entire window, based on the knowledge* that all of a CFMWS window is of a similar performance class. *Note that this heuristic will evolve when CFMWS Windows present a wider range of characteristics. The extension of the proximity domain, implemented here, is likely a step in developing a more sophisticated performance profile in the future. There is no change in behavior when the SRAT does not describe the CFMWS Window at all. In that case, a new NUMA node with a single memblk covering the entire CFMWS Window is created. This patch tries to fix this by hardening the global disable process. Before disable the PMU, writing an invalid event type (0xffff) to focibly stop the counters. As `crt=-1` has same functionality as what nocrt should be doing drop `nocrt` and associated documentation. This should fix a quirk for Gigabyte GA-7ZX that used `nocrt` and thus didn't function properly. commit 1cd0302be5645420f73090aee26fa787287e1096 upstream. The ACPI device CSC3556 is a Cirrus Logic CS35L56 mono amplifier which is used in multiples, and can be connected either to I2C or SPI. There will be multiple instances under the same Device() node. Add it to ignore_serial_bus_ids and handle it in the serial-multi-instantiate driver. There can be a 5th I2cSerialBusV2, but this is an alias address and doesn't represent a real device. Ignore this by having a dummy 5th entry in the serial-multi-instantiate instance list with the name of a non-existent driver, on the same pattern as done for bsg2150. Modify acpi_processor_get_platform_limit() to avoid updating its frequency QoS request when the _PPC return value has not changed by comparing that value to the previous _PPC return value stored in the performance_platform_limit field of the struct acpi_processor corresponding to the given CPU. While at it, do the _PPC return value check against the state count earlier, to avoid setting performance_platform_limit to an invalid value, and make acpi_processor_ppc_init() use FREQ_QOS_MAX_DEFAULT_VALUE as the "no limit" frequency QoS for consistency. When _PPC returns 0, it means that the CPU frequency is not limited by the platform firmware, so make acpi_processor_get_platform_limit() update the frequency QoS request used by it to "no limit" in that case. This addresses a problem with limiting CPU frequency artificially on some systems after CPU offline/online to the frequency that corresponds to the first entry in the _PSS return package. According to the ARM IORT specifications DEN 0049 issue E, the "Number of IDs" field in the ID mapping format reports the number of IDs in the mapping range minus one. In iort_node_get_rmr_info(), we erroneously skip ID mappings whose "Number of IDs" equal to 0, resulting in valid mapping nodes with a single ID to map being skipped, which is wrong. Fix iort_node_get_rmr_info() by removing the bogus id_count check. Add a DMI quirk to use the native intel_backlight interface which does work properly. 2023-06-28ACPI: sleep: Avoid breaking S3 wakeup due to might_sleep()Rafael J. Wysocki2-6/+12

The addition of might_sleep() to down_timeout() caused the latter to enable interrupts unconditionally in some cases, which in turn broke the ACPI S3 wakeup path in acpi_suspend_enter(), where down_timeout() is called by acpi_disable_all_gpes() via acpi_ut_acquire_mutex(). Namely, if CONFIG_DEBUG_ATOMIC_SLEEP is set, might_sleep() causes might_resched() to be used and if CONFIG_PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY is set, this triggers __cond_resched() which may call preempt_schedule_common(), so __schedule() gets invoked and it ends up with enabled interrupts (in the prev == next case). Now, enabling interrupts early in the S3 wakeup path causes the kernel to crash. Address this by modifying acpi_suspend_enter() to disable GPEs without attempting to acquire the sleeping lock which is not needed in that code path anyway.
