2023-02-24drm/amdgpu: optimize VRAM allocation when using drm buddyShane Xiao1-1/+2
Since the VRAM manager changed from drm mm to drm buddy. It's not necessary to allocate 2MB aligned VRAM for more than 2MB unaligned size, and then do trim. User reported gpu page fault when running graphics applications and in some cases garbaged graphics are observed as soon as X starts. This patch fixes all the issues. Fixed the typecast issue for fpfn and lpfn variables, thus preventing the overflow problem which resolves the memory corruption. 2021-07-01drm/amdgpu: Set ttm caching flags during bo allocationOak Zeng1-0/+5
The ttm caching flags (ttm_cached, ttm_write_combined etc) are used to determine a buffer object's mapping attributes in both CPU page table and GPU page table (when that buffer is also accessed by GPU). Currently the ttm caching flags are set in function amdgpu_ttm_io_mem_reserve which is called during DRM_AMDGPU_GEM_MMAP ioctl. This has a problem since the GPU mapping of the buffer object (ioctl DRM_AMDGPU_GEM_VA) can happen earlier than the mmap time, thus the GPU page table update code can't pick up the right ttm caching flags to decide the right GPU page table attributes. When we want to decouble resource management from buffer management we need to be able to handle resources separately. Add a resource pointer and rename bo->mem so that all code needs to change to access the pointer instead. No functional change. As noted during the review this approach doesn't make sense at all. We should not apply any limitation on the VRAM applications can use inside the kernel. In amdgpu_ras_reset_gpu, because bad pages may not be freed, it has high probability to reserve bad pages failed.
