2024-06-14drm/amdgpu/kfd: remove is_hws_hang and is_resettingYunxiang Li1-2/+2
is_hws_hang and is_resetting serves pretty much the same purpose and they all duplicates the work of the reset_domain lock, just check that directly instead. This also eliminate a few bugs listed below and get rid of dqm->ops.pre_reset. kfd_hws_hang did not need to avoid scheduling another reset. If the on-going reset decided to skip GPU reset we have a bad time, otherwise the extra reset will get cancelled anyway. remove_queue_mes forgot to check is_resetting flag compared to the pre-MES path unmap_queue_cpsch, so it did not block hw access during reset correctly. 2023-06-09drm/amdgpu: add configurable grace period for unmap queuesJonathan Kim1-0/+32
The HWS schedule allows a grace period for wave completion prior to preemption for better performance by avoiding CWSR on waves that can potentially complete quickly. The debugger, on the other hand, will want to inspect wave status immediately after it actively triggers preemption (a suspend function to be provided). To minimize latency between preemption and debugger wave inspection, allow immediate preemption by setting the grace period to 0. Note that setting the preepmtion grace period to 0 will result in an infinite grace period being set due to a CP FW bug so set it to 1 for now. 2023-06-09drm/amdkfd: Introduce kfd_node struct (v5)Mukul Joshi1-1/+1

2021-07-23drm/amdkfd: Fix a concurrency issue during kfd recoveryOak Zeng1-0/+3
start_cpsch and stop_cpsch can be called during kfd device initialization or during gpu reset/recovery. So they can run concurrently. Currently in start_cpsch and stop_cpsch, pm_init and pm_uninit is not protected by the dpm lock. Imagine such a case that user use packet manager's function to submit a pm4 packet to hang hws (ie through command cat /sys/class/kfd/kfd/topology/nodes/1/gpu_id | sudo tee /sys/kernel/debug/kfd/hang_hws), while kfd device is under device reset/recovery so packet manager can be not initialized. There will be unpredictable protection fault in such case. This patch moves pm_init/uninit inside the dpm lock and check packet manager is initialized before using packet manager function. 2021-04-09drm/amdkfd: dqm fence memory corruptionQu Huang1-1/+1
Amdgpu driver uses 4-byte data type as DQM fence memory, and transmits GPU address of fence memory to microcode through query status PM4 message. However, query status PM4 message definition and microcode processing are all processed according to 8 bytes. Fence memory only allocates 4 bytes of memory, but microcode does write 8 bytes of memory, so there is a memory corruption. Changes since v1: * Change dqm->fence_addr as a u64 pointer to fix this issue, also fix up query_status and amdkfd_fence_wait_timeout function uses 64 bit fence value to make them consistent. 2020-04-28drm/amdkfd: Enable over-subscription with >1 GWS queueJoseph Greathouse1-2/+4
The current GWS usage model will only allows a single GWS-enabled process to be active on the GPU at once. This ensures that a barrier-using kernel gets a known amount of GPU hardware, to prevent deadlock due to inability to go beyond the GWS barrier. The HWS watches how many GWS entries are assigned to each process, and goes into over-subscription mode when two processes need more than the 64 that are available. The current KFD method for working with this is to allocate all 64 GWS entries to each GWS-capable process. When more than one GWS-enabled process is in the runlist, we must make sure the runlist is in over-subscription mode, so that the HWS gets a chained RUN_LIST packet and continues scheduling kernels. The kernel queue functions for v9 and v10 are the same except pm_map_process_v* which have small difference, so they should be reused. This eliminates the need of reapplying several patches which were applied on v9 but not on v10, such as bigger GWS and more than 2 SDMA engine support which were introduced on Arcturus.
