2023-09-20drm/bridge: tc358768: Print logical values, not raw register valuesTomi Valkeinen1-9/+12
The driver debug prints DSI related timings as raw register values in hex. It is much more useful to see the "logical" value of the timing, not the register value. Change the prints to print the values separately, in case a single register contains multiple values, and use %u to have it in a more human consumable form. 2023-09-20drm/bridge: tc358768: Use struct videomodeTomi Valkeinen1-21/+24
The TC358768 documentation uses HFP, HBP, etc. values to deal with the video mode, while the driver currently uses the DRM display mode (htotal, hsync_start, etc). Change the driver to convert the DRM display mode to struct videomode, which then allows us to use the same units the documentation uses. This makes it much easier to work on the code when using the TC358768 documentation as a reference. 2023-09-20drm/bridge: tc358768: Cleanup PLL calculationsTomi Valkeinen1-7/+7
As is quite common, some of TC358768's PLL register fields are to be programmed with (value - 1). Specifically, the FBD and PRD, multiplier and divider, are such fields. However, what the driver currently does is that it considers that the formula used for PLL rate calculation is: RefClk * [(FBD + 1)/ (PRD + 1)] * [1 / (2^FRS)] where FBD and PRD are values directly from the registers, while a more sensible way to look at it is: RefClk * FBD / PRD * (1 / (2^FRS)) and when the FBD and PRD values are written to the registers, they will be subtracted by one. Change the driver accordingly, as it simplifies the PLL code. 2023-09-20drm/bridge: tc358768: Fix bit updatesTomi Valkeinen1-6/+7
The driver has a few places where it does: if (thing_is_enabled_in_config) update_thing_bit_in_hw() This means that if the thing is _not_ enabled, the bit never gets cleared. This affects the h/vsyncs and continuous DSI clock bits. Fix the driver to always update the bit. 2023-09-20drm/bridge: tc358768: Default to positive h/v syncsTomi Valkeinen1-0/+18
As the TC358768 is a DPI to DSI bridge, the DSI side does not need to define h/v sync polarities. This means that sometimes we have a mode without defined sync polarities, which does not work on the DPI side. Add a mode_fixup hook to default to positive sync polarities. 2023-09-06drm/bridge/analogix/anx78xx: Drop ID tableBiju Das1-7/+0
The driver has an ID table, but it uses the wrong API for retrieving match data and that will lead to a crash, if it is instantiated by user space or using ID. From this, there is no user for the ID table and let's drop it from the driver as it saves some memory. 2023-09-05drm/bridge: lt8912b: Manually disable HPD only if it was enabledTomi Valkeinen1-1/+1
lt8912b only calls drm_bridge_hpd_enable() if it creates a connector and the next bridge has DRM_BRIDGE_OP_HPD set. However, when calling drm_bridge_hpd_disable() it misses checking if a connector was created, calling drm_bridge_hpd_disable() even if HPD was never enabled. I don't see any issues caused by this wrong call, though. Add the check to avoid wrongly calling drm_bridge_hpd_disable(). 2023-09-05drm/bridge: lt8912b: Fix bridge_detachTomi Valkeinen1-11/+5
The driver calls lt8912_bridge_detach() from its lt8912_remove() function. As the DRM core detaches bridges automatically, this leads to calling lt8912_bridge_detach() twice. The code probably has tried to manage the double-call with the 'is_attached' variable, but the driver never sets the variable to false, so its of no help. Fix the issue by dropping the call to lt8912_bridge_detach() from lt8912_remove(), as the DRM core will handle the detach call for us, and also drop the useless is_attached field. Fix the NULL pointer dereference when no monitor is connected, and the sound card is opened from userspace. The driver has OF match table, still it uses ID lookup table for retrieving match data. Currently the driver is working on the assumption that a I2C device registered via OF will always match a legacy I2C device ID. The correct approach is to have an OF device ID table using of_device_match_data() if the devices are registered via OF. 2023-08-18drm: bridge: samsung-dsim: Fix init during host transferFrieder Schrempf1-10/+17
In case the downstream bridge or panel uses DSI transfers before the DSI host was actually initialized through samsung_dsim_atomic_enable() which clears the stop state (LP11) mode, all transfers will fail. This happens with downstream bridges that are controlled by DSI commands such as the tc358762. As documented in [1] DSI hosts are expected to allow transfers outside the normal bridge enable/disable flow. To fix this make sure that stop state is cleared in samsung_dsim_host_transfer() which restores the previous behavior. We also factor out the common code to enable/disable stop state to samsung_dsim_set_stop_state(). Add the device link when panel bridge is attached and delete the link when panel bridge is detached. The drm device is the consumer while the panel device is the supplier. This makes sure that the drm device suspends eariler and resumes later than the panel device, hence resolves problems where the order is reversed, like the problematic case mentioned in the below link. 2023-08-11drm/bridge: lvds-codec: Implement atomic_get_input_bus_fmts for LVDS encoderAlexander Stein1-8/+4
atomic_get_input_bus_fmts is only implemented for LVDS decoders, resulting that LVDS encoders only support bus format MEDIA_BUS_FMT_FIXED. This results in warnings like: mxsfb 21c8000.lcdif: Bridge does not provide bus format, assuming MEDIA_BUS_FMT_RGB888_1X24. Please fix bridge driver by handling atomic_get_input_bus_fmts. Fix this by reusing lvds_codec_atomic_get_input_bus_fmts currently used for LVDS decoders. Use RGB888_1X24 for LVDS encoders. This also allows removing the dedicated struct drm_bridge_funcs for decoders. 2023-08-04drm: bridge: dw_hdmi: Fix ELD is not updated issueSandor Yu1-9/+3
The ELD (EDID-Like Data) is not updated when the HDMI cable is plugged into different HDMI monitors. This is because the EDID is not updated in the HDMI HPD function. As a result, the ELD data remains unchanged and may not reflect the capabilities of the newly connected HDMI sink device. To address this issue, the handle_plugged_change function should move to the bridge_atomic_enable and bridge_atomic_disable functions. Make sure the EDID is properly updated before updating ELD. 2023-07-24drm/bridge: anx7625: Drop device lock before drm_helper_hpd_irq_event()Chen-Yu Tsai1-6/+8
The device lock is used to serialize the low level power sequencing operations. Since drm_helper_hpd_irq_event() could end up calling .atomic_enable, which also calls power sequencing functions through runtime PM, this results in a real deadlock. This was observed on an MT8192-based Chromebook's external display (with appropriate patches [1] and DT changes applied). Move the drm_helper_hpd_irq_event() call outside of the lock range. The lock only needs to be held so that the device status can be read back. This is the bare minimum change to avoid the deadlock. The lock could be dropped completely and have pm_runtime_get_if_in_use() increase the reference count, but this is not the same as pm_runtime_suspended(). Dropping the lock completely also causes the internal display of the same device to not function correctly if the internal bridge's interrupt line is added in the device tree. Both the internal and external display of said device each use one anx7625 bridge. The documentation is not clear about how this delay works. Empirical tests have shown that with a VSDELAY of 0, the first scanline is not properly formatted in the output stream when DSI->DP mode is used. The calculation spreadsheets from Toshiba seem to always make this value equal to the HFP + 10 for DSI->DP use-case. For DSI->DPI this value should be > 2 and for DPI->DP it seems to always be 0x64. The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. While disabling the SW_EVENT interrupts, it accidentally enables the MBOX interrupts, which are not handled by the driver. Fix this with a read-modify-write to update only required bits. Use the enable / disable function as required in other places. With new connector model, sii902x will not create the connector, when DRM_BRIDGE_ATTACH_NO_CONNECTOR is set and SoC driver will rely on format negotiation to setup the encoder format. Support format negotiations hooks in the drm_bridge_funcs. Use helper functions for state management. Input format is selected to MEDIA_BUS_FMT_RGB888_1X24 as default, as is the case with older model. With new connector model, mhdp bridge will not create the connector and SoC driver will rely on format negotiation to setup the encoder format. Support minimal format negotiations hooks in the drm_bridge_funcs. Complete format negotiation can be added based on EDID data. This patch adds the minimal required support to avoid failure after moving to new connector model.
