2021-12-08drm/omap: Add a 'right overlay' to plane stateBenoit Parrot1-1/+32
If the drm_plane has a source width that's greater than the max width supported by a single hw overlay, then we assign a 'r_overlay' to it in omap_plane_atomic_check(). Both overlays should have the capabilities required to handle the source framebuffer. The only parameters that vary between the left and right hwoverlays are the src_w, crtc_w, src_x and crtc_x as we just even chop the fb into left and right halves. We also take care of not creating odd width size when dealing with YUV formats. Since both halves need to be 'appear' side by side the zpos is recalculated when dealing with dual overlay cases so that the other planes zpos is consistent. Depending on user space usage it is possible that on occasion the number of requested planes exceeds the numbers of overlays required to display them. In that case a failure would be returned for the plane that cannot be handled at that time. It is up to user space to make sure the H/W resource are not over-subscribed. 2019-06-10drm/omap: add support for manually updated displaysSebastian Reichel1-0/+19
This adds the required infrastructure for manually updated displays, such as DSI command mode panels. While those panels often support partial updates we currently always do a full refresh. The display will be refreshed when something calls the dirty callback, such as libdrm's drmModeDirtyFB(). This is currently being done at least by the kernel console and Xorg (with modesetting driver) in their default configuration. Weston does not implement this and the fbdev backend does not work (display will not update). Weston's DRM backend uses double buffering and the page flip will also trigger a display refresh. 2019-05-20drm: Replace instances of drm_format_info by drm_get_format_infoMaxime Ripard1-1/+1
drm_get_format_info directly calls into drm_format_info, but takes directly a struct drm_mode_fb_cmd2 pointer, instead of the fourcc directly. It's shorter to not dereference it, and we can customise the behaviour at the driver level if we want to, so let's switch to it where it makes sense. 2019-05-20drm: Remove users of drm_format_num_planesMaxime Ripard1-1/+3
drm_format_num_planes() is basically a lookup in the drm_format_info table plus an access to the num_planes field of the appropriate entry. Most drivers are using this function while having access to the entry already, which means that we will perform an unnecessary lookup. Removing the call to drm_format_num_planes is therefore more efficient. Some drivers will not have access to that entry in the function, but in this case the overhead is minimal (we just have to call drm_format_info() to perform the lookup) and we can even avoid multiple, inefficient lookups in some places that need multiple fields from the drm_format_info structure. 2019-01-24drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.hDaniel Vetter1-1/+1
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I expect. v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs. v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits: - (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged). - sort alphabetically v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I touch. v6: Rebase onto i915 changes. v7: Rebase once more. 2017-06-02drm/omap: fix YUV422 rotation with TILERTomi Valkeinen1-0/+14
TILER rotation with YUV422 pixelformats does not work at the moment. All other pixel formats work, because the pixelformat's pixel size is equal to tiler unit size (e.g. XR24's pixel size is 32 bits, and the TILER unit size that has to be used is 32 bits). For YUV422 formats this is not the case, as the TILER unit size has to be 32 bits, but the pixel size is 16 bits. The end result is OCP errors and sync losts. This patch adds the code to adjust the variables for YUV422 formats. We could make the code more generic by passing around the pixel format, rotation type, angle and the tiler unit size, which would allow us to do calculations without special case for YUV422. However, this would make the code more complex, and at least for now this is much more easier to handle with these two special cases for YUV422. 2017-06-02drm/omap: change supported_modes to an arrayTomi Valkeinen1-3/+11
enum omap_color_mode is a bitmask, so at the moment we present the supported color modes as mask. To be able to move to fourccs, we need to use an array to present the supported color modes. As a first step towards fourccs, this patch changes the code to use an array to store the enums. 2017-06-02drm/omap: remove dma & vrfb rotationTomi Valkeinen1-1/+1
We have three rotation methods supported by the SoCs with DSS: DMA, VRFB and TILER. DMA rotation works in theory on all DSS platforms, but in practice it's unusable due to the huge amount of memory bandwidth it uses, and has never really been used. VRFB is available on OMAP3, but is not supported by omapdrm, even though we have some code for it in the dispc driver. TILER is supported on OMAP4/OMAP5/DRA7/AM5 platforms, but has some driver bugs. To clean up the driver to help fixing the TILER issues, this patch drops the DMA and VRFB rotation support, leaving only TILER rotation. 2017-05-22drm: Add DRM_MODE_ROTATE_ and DRM_MODE_REFLECT_ to UAPIRobert Foss1-9/+9
Add DRM_MODE_ROTATE_ and DRM_MODE_REFLECT_ defines to the UAPI as a convenience. Ideally the DRM_ROTATE_ and DRM_REFLECT_ property ids are looked up through the atomic API, but realizing that userspace is likely to take shortcuts and assume that the enum values are what is sent over the wire. As a result these defines are provided purely as a convenience to userspace applications.
