2022-03-11drm/vmwgfx: Implement MSI/MSI-X support for IRQsZack Rusin1-6/+49
SVGAv3 deprecates legacy interrupts and adds support for MSI/MSI-X. With MSI the driver visible side remains largely unchanged but with MSI-X each interrupt gets delivered on its own vector. Add support for MSI/MSI-X while preserving the old functionality for SVGAv2. Code between the SVGAv2 and SVGAv3 is exactly the same, only the number of available vectors changes, in particular between legacy and MSI-X interrupts. 2022-03-11drm/vmwgfx: Fix fencing on SVGAv3Zack Rusin1-8/+18
Port of the vmwgfx to SVGAv3 lacked support for fencing. SVGAv3 removed FIFO's and replaced them with command buffers and extra registers. The initial version of SVGAv3 lacked support for most advanced features (e.g. 3D) which made fences unnecessary. That is no longer the case, especially as 3D support is being turned on. Switch from FIFO commands and capabilities to command buffers and extra registers to enable fences on SVGAv3. 2021-07-08drm/vmwgfx: Convert to Linux IRQ interfacesThomas Zimmermann1-11/+5
Drop the DRM IRQ midlayer in favor of Linux IRQ interfaces. DRM's IRQ helpers are mostly useful for UMS drivers. Modern KMS drivers don't benefit from using it. Vmwgfx already uses Linux IRQ functions. All that's left to replace is the reference to struct drm_device.irq. Use irq value of struct pci_dev instead. 2021-05-11drm/vmwgfx: Add basic support for SVGA3Zack Rusin1-63/+14
SVGA3 is the next version of our PCI device. Some of the changes include using MMIO for register accesses instead of ioports, deprecating the FIFO MMIO and removing a lot of the old and legacy functionality. SVGA3 doesn't support guest backed objects right now so everything except 3D is working. v2: Fixes all the static analyzer warnings Signed-off-by: Zack Rusin <zackr@vmware.com> Cc: Martin Krastev <krastevm@vmware.com> Reviewed-by: Roland Scheidegger <sroland@vmware.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20210505191007.305872-1-zackr@vmware.com
2021-01-14drm/vmwgfx: Remove the throttling codeZack Rusin1-1/+0
Throttling was used before fencing to implement early vsync support in the xorg state tracker a long time ago. The xorg state tracker has been removed years ago and no one else has ever used throttling. It's time to remove this code, it hasn't been used or tested in years. 2021-01-14drm/vmwgfx: Cleanup fifo mmio handlingZack Rusin1-6/+3
Going forward the svga device might reuse mmio for general register accesses, in order to prepare for that we need to cleanup our naming and handling of fifo specific mmio reads and writes. As part of this work lets switch to managed mapping of the fifo mmio to make the error handling cleaner. 2017-08-28drm/vmwgfx: Move irq bottom half processing to threadsThomas Hellstrom1-11/+57
This gets rid of the irq bottom half tasklets and instead performs the work needed in process context. We also convert irq-disabling spinlocks to ordinary spinlocks. 2015-01-19drm/vmwgfx: Replace the hw mutex with a hw spinlockThomas Hellstrom1-16/+9
Fixes a case where we call vmw_fifo_idle() from within a wait function with task state !TASK_RUNNING, which is illegal. In addition, make the locking fine-grained, so that it is performed once for every read- and write operation. This is of course more costly, but we don't perform much register access in the timing critical paths anyway. Instead we have the extra benefit of being sure that we don't forget the hw lock around register accesses. I think currently the kms code was quite buggy w r t this. 2011-09-06vmwgfx: Fix confusion caused by using "fence" in various placesThomas Hellstrom1-28/+28
This is needed before we introduce the fence objects. Otherwise this will be even more confusing. The plan is to use the following: seqno: A 32-bit sequence number that may be passed in the fifo. marker: Objects, carrying a seqno, that track fifo submission time. They are used for fifo lag based throttling. fence objects: Kernel space objects, possibly accessible from user-space and carrying a 32-bit seqno together with signaled status.
