If we were to take the current subdrv pointer as the start of the list (as we would do if list_for_each_entry_reverse() was not a macro), we would iterate backwards over the &exynos_drm_subdrv_list anchor, which would be even worse. Instead, we need to use list_for_each_entry_continue_reverse() to go back over each subdrv that was successfully opened until the first entry. Static checkers complain that we should probably add curly braces because, from the indenting, it looks like seq_printf() should be inside the list_for_each_entry() loop. But the code is actually correct, it's just the indenting which is off. Besides fixing the indenting on seq_printf(), I did add curly braces, because generally mult-line indents should have curly braces to make them more readable. 2017-01-15drivers/gpu/drm/ast: Fix infinite loop if read failsRussell Currey1-2/+5
[ Upstream commit 298360af3dab45659810fdc51aba0c9f4097e4f6 ] ast_get_dram_info() configures a window in order to access BMC memory. A BMC register can be configured to disallow this, and if so, causes an infinite loop in the ast driver which renders the system unusable. Fix this by erroring out if an error is detected. On powerpc systems with EEH, this leads to the device being fenced and the system continuing to operate. [ Upstream commit 537b4b462caa8bfb9726d9695b8e56e2d5e6b41e ] The read is taking a considerable amount of time (about 50us on this machine). The register does not ever hold anything other than the ring ID that is updated in this exact function, so there is no need for the read modify write cycle. This chops off a big chunk of the time spent in hardirq disabled context, as this function is called multiple times in the interrupt handler. With this change applied radeon won't show up in the list of the worst IRQ latency offenders anymore, where it was a regular before. 2016-08-22drm/nouveau/fbcon: fix font width not divisible by 8Mikulas Patocka3-4/+4
[ Upstream commit 28668f43b8e421634e1623f72a879812288dd06b ] The patch f045f459d925 ("drm/nouveau/fbcon: fix out-of-bounds memory accesses") tries to fix some out of memory accesses. Unfortunatelly, the patch breaks the display when using fonts with width that is not divisiable by 8. The monochrome bitmap for each character is stored in memory by lines from top to bottom. Each line is padded to a full byte. For example, for 22x11 font, each line is padded to 16 bits, so each character is consuming 44 bytes total, that is 11 32-bit words. The patch f045f459d925 changed the logic to "dsize = ALIGN(image->width * image->height, 32) >> 5", that is just 8 words - this is incorrect and it causes display corruption. This patch adds the necesary padding of lines to 8 bytes. This patch should be backported to stable kernels where f045f459d925 was backported. 2016-08-22drm/radeon: Poll for both connect/disconnect on analog connectorsLyude1-6/+9
[ Upstream commit 14ff8d48f2235295dfb3117693008e367b49cdb5 ] DRM_CONNECTOR_POLL_CONNECT only enables polling for connections, not disconnections. Because of this, we end up losing hotplug polling for analog connectors once they get connected. Easy way to reproduce: - Grab a machine with a radeon GPU and a VGA port - Plug a monitor into the VGA port, wait for it to update the connector from disconnected to connected - Disconnect the monitor on VGA, a hotplug event is never sent for the removal of the connector. Originally, only using DRM_CONNECTOR_POLL_CONNECT might have been a good idea since doing VGA polling can sometimes result in having to mess with the DAC voltages to figure out whether or not there's actually something there since VGA doesn't have HPD. Doing this would have the potential of showing visible artifacts on the screen every time we ran a poll while a VGA display was connected. Luckily, radeon_vga_detect() only resorts to this sort of polling if the poll is forced, and DRM's polling helper doesn't force it's polls. Additionally, this removes some assignments to connector->polled that weren't actually doing anything. [ Upstream commit 476490a945e1f0f6bd58e303058d2d8ca93a974c ] Thanks to Ville Syrjälä for pointing me towards the cause of this issue. Unfortunately one of the sideaffects of having the refclk for a DPLL set to SSC is that as long as it's set to SSC, the GPU will prevent us from powering down any of the pipes or transcoders using it. A couple of BIOSes enable SSC in both PCH_DREF_CONTROL and in the DPLL configurations. This causes issues on the first modeset, since we don't expect SSC to be left on and as a result, can't successfully power down the pipes or the transcoders using it. Here's an example from this Dell OptiPlex 990: [drm:intel_modeset_init] SSC enabled by BIOS, overriding VBT which says disabled [drm:intel_modeset_init] 2 display pipes available. In this scenario, the card is not correctly initialized, but we still consider it to be posted. Therefore, in a passthrough based environemnt we should always post the card to guarantee it is in a good state for driver initialization. 2016-06-07drm/fb_helper: Fix references to dev->mode_config.num_connectorLyude1-3/+2
[ Upstream commit 255f0e7c418ad95a4baeda017ae6182ba9b3c423 ] During boot, MST hotplugs are generally expected (even if no physical hotplugging occurs) and result in DRM's connector topology changing. This means that using num_connector from the current mode configuration can lead to the number of connectors changing under us. This can lead to some nasty scenarios in fbcon: - We allocate an array to the size of dev->mode_config.num_connectors. - MST hotplug occurs, dev->mode_config.num_connectors gets incremented. - We try to loop through each element in the array using the new value of dev->mode_config.num_connectors, and end up going out of bounds since dev->mode_config.num_connectors is now larger then the array we allocated. fb_helper->connector_count however, will always remain consistent while we do a modeset in fb_helper. Note: This is just polish for 4.7, Dave Airlie's drm_connector refcounting fixed these bugs for real. But it's good enough duct-tape for stable kernel backporting, since backporting the refcounting changes is way too invasive. 2016-05-17drm/i915/ddi: Fix eDP VDD handling during booting and suspend/resumeImre Deak3-9/+7
[ Upstream commit 5eaa60c7109b40f17ac81090bc8b90482da76cd1 ] The driver's VDD on/off logic assumes that whenever the VDD is on we also hold an AUX power domain reference. Since BIOS can leave the VDD on during booting and resuming and on DDI platforms we won't take a corresponding power reference, the above assumption won't hold on those platforms and an eventual delayed VDD off work will do an extraneous AUX power domain put resulting in a refcount underflow. Fix this the same way we did this for non-DDI DP encoders: commit 6d93c0c41760c0 ("drm/i915: fix VDD state tracking after system resume") At the same time call the DP encoder suspend handler the same way as the non-DDI DP encoders do to flush any pending VDD off work. Leaving the work running may cause a HW access where we don't expect this (at a point where power domains are suspended already). While at it remove an unnecessary function call indirection. This fixed for me AUX refcount underflow problems on BXT during suspend/resume. 2016-05-17drm/i915: Read out the power sequencer port assignment on resume on vlv/chvVille Syrjälä2-34/+47
[ Upstream commit 49e6bc51bc9e22c8a433ba32a4e45a5818de3850 ] When we suspend we turn everything off so the pps should be idle, and we also (or at least should) disable all power wells which will reset the power sequencer port assignment. So when we resume all power sequencers should be in their reset state. However it's at least theoretically possible that the BIOS would touch the power seuqencer(s), so to be safe we ought to read out the current port assignment like we do at driver init time. To do that we can simply call vlv_initial_power_sequencer_setup() from the encoder ->reset() hook before calling intel_edp_panel_vdd_sanitize(). There's no danger or clobbering the pps delays since we now have those stored within intel_dp and we don't change them once initialized. This will make sure that the vdd state gets correctly tracked post-resume in case the BIOS enabled it. We need to shuffle things around a bit to get the locking right, and while at it, make intel_edp_panel_vdd_sanitize() static and move it around a bit to avoid a forward declaration. This can lead to hotplugging breaking (along with probably other things) since the hub will start sending connection notifications with the wrong GUID. As such, we need to check on resume whether or not the GUID the hub is giving us is valid. This will already block if the buffer was populated before anyone does try to mmap it because then TTM_PAGE_FLAG_SG would be set in in the ttm_tt flags. But that flag is check before ttm_tt_populate in the ttm vm fault handler. So to be safe just add a check to verify_access() callback. There are flags to indicate which methods are supported. If the dGPU power down flag is not supported, the driver needs to implement the dGPU power down manually. We had previously always forced the driver to assume the ATPX dGPU power down was present, but this causes problems on boards where it is not, leading to GPU hangs when attempting to power down the dGPU. Manual dGPU power down is not currently supported in the Linux driver. Some laptops indicate that the ATPX dGPU power down method is not present, but it actually apparently is. I'm not sure if this is a bios bug and it should be set or if there is a reason it was unset and the method should not be used. This is not an issue on other OSes since both the ATPX and the manual driver power down methods are supported. [ Upstream commit d59a1f71ff1aeda4b4630df92d3ad4e3b1dfc885 ] The SPICE protocol considers the position of a cursor to be the location of its active pixel on the display, so the cursor is drawn with its top-left corner at "(x - hot_spot_x, y - hot_spot_y)" but the DRM cursor position gives the location where the top-left corner should be drawn, with the hotspot being a hint for drivers that need it. This fixes the location of the window resize cursors when using Fluxbox with the QXL DRM driver and both the QXL and modesetting X drivers.
