2023-06-06coresight: etm4x: Fix missing trctraceidr file in sysfsMike Leach1-9/+18
The trace ID patchset adjusted the handling of the TRCTRACEIDR register sysfs to allocate on read. Although this was initally correct, the final version of the patch series introduced an error which resulted in the mgmt/trctraceidr file in sysfs not being visible. This patch fixes that issue. 2023-01-19coresight: etm4x: Update ETM4 driver to use Trace ID APIMike Leach1-3/+24
The trace ID API is now used to allocate trace IDs for ETM4.x / ETE devices. For perf sessions, these will be allocated on enable, and released on disable. For sysfs sessions, these will be allocated on enable, but only released on reset. This allows the sysfs session to interrogate the Trace ID used after the session is over - maintaining functional consistency with the previous allocation scheme. The trace ID will also be allocated on read of the mgmt/trctraceid file. This ensures that if perf or sysfs read this before enabling trace, the value will be the one used for the trace session. Trace ID initialisation is removed from the _probe() function. 2022-03-11coresight: etm4x: Don't use virtual contextID for non-root PID namespaceLeo Yan1-0/+28
As commented in the function ctxid_pid_store(), it can cause the PID values mismatching between context ID tracing and PID allocated in a non-root namespace. For this reason, when a process runs in non-root PID namespace, the driver doesn't allow PID tracing and returns failure when access contextID related sysfs nodes. VMID works for virtual contextID when the kernel runs in EL2 mode with VHE; on the other hand, the driver doesn't prevent users from accessing it when programs run in the non-root namespace. Thus this can lead to same issues with contextID described above. This patch imposes the checking on VMID related sysfs knobs and returns failure if current process runs in non-root PID namespace. 2022-03-11coresight: Fix TRCCONFIGR.QE sysfs interfaceJames Clark1-2/+6
It's impossible to program a valid value for TRCCONFIGR.QE when TRCIDR0.QSUPP==0b10. In that case the following is true: Q element support is implemented, and only supports Q elements without instruction counts. TRCCONFIGR.QE can only take the values 0b00 or 0b11. Currently the low bit of QSUPP is checked to see if the low bit of QE can be written to, but as you can see when QSUPP==0b10 the low bit is cleared making it impossible to ever write the only valid value of 0b11 to QE. 0b10 would be written instead, which is a reserved QE value even for all values of QSUPP. The fix is to allow writing the low bit of QE for any non zero value of QSUPP. This change also ensures that the low bit is always set, even when the user attempts to only set the high bit. Some of the management registers in ETMv4.x are not accessible via system register instructions. Thus we must hide the sysfs files exposing them to the userspace, to prevent system crashes. This patch adds an is_visible() routine to control the visibility at runtime for the registers that may not be accessed. 2021-02-04coresight: etm4x: Make offset available for sysfs attributesSuzuki K Poulose1-58/+57
Some of the ETM management registers are not accessible via system instructions. Thus we need to filter accesses to these registers depending on the access mechanism for the ETM at runtime. The driver can cope with this for normal operation, by regular checks. But the driver also exposes them via sysfs, which now needs to be removed. So far, we have used the generic coresight sysfs helper macros to export a given device register, defining a "show" operation per register. This is not helpful to filter the files at runtime, based on the access. In order to do this dynamically, we need to filter the attributes by offsets and hard coded "show" functions doesn't make this easy. Thus, switch to extended attributes, storing the offset in the scratch space. This allows us to implement filtering based on the offset and also saves us some text size. This will be later used for determining a given attribute must be "visible" via sysfs. 2019-11-04coresight: etm4x: Fix issues with start-stop logic.Mike Leach1-4/+35
Fixes the following issues when using the ETMv4 start-stop logic. 1) Setting a start or a stop address should not automatically set the start-stop status to 'on'. The value set by the user in 'mode' must be respected or start instances could be missed. 2) Missing API for controlling TRCVIPCSSCTLR - start stop control by PE comparators. 3) Default ETM configuration sets a trace all range, and correctly sets the start-stop status bit. This was not being correctly reflected in the 'mode' parameter. 2019-11-04coresight: etm4x: Add missing API to set EL match on address filtersMike Leach1-0/+42
TRCACATRn registers have match bits for secure and non-secure exception levels which are not accessible by the sysfs API. This adds a new sysfs parameter to enable this - addr_exlevel_s_ns. 2019-11-04coresight: etm4x: Fix input validation for sysfs.Mike Leach1-8/+13
A number of issues are fixed relating to sysfs input validation:- 1) bb_ctrl_store() - incorrect compare of bit select field to absolute value. Reworked per ETMv4 specification. 2) seq_event_store() - incorrect mask value - register has two event values. 3) cyc_threshold_store() - must mask with max before checking min otherwise wrapped values can set illegal value below min. 4) res_ctrl_store() - update to mask off all res0 bits. 2018-07-15coresight: etm4x: Don't use contextID with PID namespacesMathieu Poirier1-9/+38
As with ETM3x, the ETM4x tracers can trigger trace acquisition based on contextID value, something that isn't useful when PID namespaces are enabled. Indeed the PID value of a process has a different representation in the kernel and the PID namespace, making the feature confusing and potentially leaking internal kernel information. As such simply return an error when the feature is being used from a PID namespace other than the default one. 2016-08-31coresight: fix handling of ETM trace register access via sysfsSudeep Holla1-16/+46
The ETM registers are classified into 2 categories: trace and management. The core power domain contains most of the trace unit logic including all(except TRCOSLAR and TRCOSLSR) the trace registers. The debug power domain contains the external debugger interface including all management registers. This patch adds coresight unit specific function coresight_simple_func which can be used for ETM trace registers by providing a ETM specific read function which does smp cross call to ensure the trace core is powered up before the register is accessed.
