2021-10-04ipack: ipoctal: rename tty-driver pointerJohan Hovold1-24/+24
The name "tty" is typically used for pointers to struct tty_struct. Rename the tty-driver pointer used during registration to something more apt to improve readability. 2021-09-27ipack: ipoctal: fix module reference leakJohan Hovold1-8/+21
A reference to the carrier module was taken on every open but was only released once when the final reference to the tty struct was dropped. Fix this by taking the module reference and initialising the tty driver data when installing the tty. Add the missing error handling when allocating the transmit buffer to avoid dereferencing a NULL pointer in write() should the allocation ever fail. 2021-09-27ipack: ipoctal: fix tty-registration error handlingJohan Hovold1-0/+7
Registration of the ipoctal tty devices is unlikely to fail, but if it ever does, make sure not to deregister a never registered tty device (and dereference a NULL pointer) when the driver is later unbound. Fixes: 2afb41d9d30d ("Staging: ipack/devices/ipoctal: Check tty_register_device return value.") 2021-09-27ipack: ipoctal: fix tty registration raceJohan Hovold1-2/+2
Make sure to set the tty class-device driver data before registering the tty to avoid having a racing open() dereference a NULL pointer. Fixes: 9c1d784afc6f ("Staging: ipack/devices/ipoctal: Get rid of ipoctal_list.") 2021-09-27ipack: ipoctal: fix stack information leakJohan Hovold1-5/+14
The tty driver name is used also after registering the driver and must specifically not be allocated on the stack to avoid leaking information to user space (or triggering an oops). Drivers should not try to encode topology information in the tty device name but this one snuck in through staging without anyone noticing and another driver has since copied this malpractice. Fixing the ABI is a separate issue, but this at least plugs the security hole. 2021-08-13ipack: tpci200: fix memory leak in the tpci200_registerDongliang Mu1-10/+14
The error handling code in tpci200_register does not free interface_regs allocated by ioremap and the current version of error handling code is problematic. Fix this by refactoring the error handling code and free interface_regs when necessary. 2021-08-13ipack: tpci200: fix many double free issues in tpci200_pci_probeDongliang Mu1-18/+18
The function tpci200_register called by tpci200_install and tpci200_unregister called by tpci200_uninstall are in pair. However, tpci200_unregister has some cleanup operations not in the tpci200_register. So the error handling code of tpci200_pci_probe has many different double free issues. Fix this problem by moving those cleanup operations out of tpci200_unregister, into tpci200_pci_remove and reverting the previous commit 9272e5d0028d ("ipack/carriers/tpci200: Fix a double free in tpci200_pci_probe"). 2021-07-27tty: stop using alloc_tty_driverJiri Slaby1-5/+4
alloc_tty_driver was deprecated by tty_alloc_driver in commit 7f0bc6a68ed9 (TTY: pass flags to alloc_tty_driver) in 2012. I never got into eliminating alloc_tty_driver until now. So we still have two functions for allocating drivers which might be confusing. So get rid of alloc_tty_driver uses to eliminate it for good in the next patch. Note we need to switch return value checking as tty_alloc_driver uses ERR_PTR. And flags are now a parameter of tty_alloc_driver. 2021-07-21bus: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König1-3/+1
The driver core ignores the return value of this callback because there is only little it can do when a device disappears. This is the final bit of a long lasting cleanup quest where several buses were converted to also return void from their remove callback. Additionally some resource leaks were fixed that were caused by drivers returning an error code in the expectation that the driver won't go away. With struct bus_type::remove returning void it's prevented that newly implemented buses return an ignored error code and so don't anticipate wrong expectations for driver authors. 2021-05-27ipack/carriers/tpci200: Fix a double free in tpci200_pci_probeLv Yunlong1-1/+4
In the out_err_bus_register error branch of tpci200_pci_probe, tpci200->info->cfg_regs is freed by tpci200_uninstall()-> tpci200_unregister()->pci_iounmap(..,tpci200->info->cfg_regs) in the first time. 2018-06-13treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()Kees Cook1-2/+2
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. In some condition we receive the break interrupt but nothing is putted in the Rx FIFO and the correspondend bit in the status register is not set. Thus, no-one clear the interrupt and the handler will be called forever. This patch clear the break interrupt as soon as it occurs. Then, if the break character '\0' is putted in the fifo we will manage it. We can also unmask the Break interrupt but its bit in ISR is still set on break. 2014-07-10ipoctal: protect only the real critical sectionFederico Vaga1-3/+2
In some conditions (echo or particular sequence of special characters), on buffer push, the tty layer calls the write operation while we are holding the spinlock. This means deadlock within the same process on kernels version < 3.12. It seems not a problem on recent kernel, but the patch still valid as locking optimization. The protected variables by the spinlock are: xmit_buf, nb_bytes, pointer_read and pointer_write. So, this patch reduces the locked area in the IRQ handler only to these variables. Most of the code inside the locked area in the IRQ handler is not protected elsewhere; it means that it is not protected at all. 2013-01-22drivers/ipack/devices/ipoctal.c: adjust duplicate testJulia Lawall1-1/+1
Delete successive tests to the same location. The code tested the result of a previous allocation, that itself was already tested. It is changed to test the result of the most recent allocation. 2013-01-19tty: Added a CONFIG_TTY option to allow removal of TTYJoe Millenbach1-1/+1
The option allows you to remove TTY and compile without errors. This saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway. bloat-o-meter output is below. The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than "depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies. bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by removing TTY. The list is filtered to not show removed entries with awk '$3 != "-"' as the list was very long. add/remove: 0/226 grow/shrink: 2/14 up/down: 6/-35356 (-35350) function old new delta chr_dev_init 166 170 +4 allow_signal 80 82 +2 static.__warned 143 142 -1 disallow_signal 63 62 -1 __set_special_pids 95 94 -1 unregister_console 126 121 -5 start_kernel 546 541 -5 register_console 593 588 -5 copy_from_user 45 40 -5 sys_setsid 128 120 -8 sys_vhangup 32 19 -13 do_exit 1543 1526 -17 bitmap_zero 60 40 -20 arch_local_irq_save 137 117 -20 release_task 674 652 -22 static.spin_unlock_irqrestore 308 260 -48 Signed-off-by: Joe Millenbach <jmillenbach@gmail.com> Reviewed-by: Jamey Sharp <jamey@minilop.net> Reviewed-by: Josh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
