2024-06-19media: max9286: Use frame interval from subdev stateJacopo Mondi1-28/+24
Use the frame interval stored in the subdev state instead of storing a copy in the driver private structure. Initialize the frame interval to the special case 0/0 that in the max9286 driver represents automatic handling of frame sync. As the frame sync mode is set at s_stream() time, we can remove it from max9286_setup(). 2024-05-13i2c: mux: Remove class argument from i2c_mux_add_adapter()Heiner Kallweit1-1/+1
99a741aa7a2d ("i2c: mux: gpio: remove support for class-based device instantiation") removed the last call to i2c_mux_add_adapter() with a non-null class argument. Therefore the class argument can be removed. Note: Class-based device instantiation is a legacy mechanism which shouldn't be used in new code, so we can rule out that this argument may be needed again in the future. 2023-12-13media: v4l2-subdev: Add which field to struct v4l2_subdev_frame_intervalLaurent Pinchart1-0/+14
Due to a historical mishap, the v4l2_subdev_frame_interval structure is the only part of the V4L2 subdev userspace API that doesn't contain a 'which' field. This prevents trying frame intervals using the subdev 'TRY' state mechanism. Adding a 'which' field is simple as the structure has 8 reserved fields. This would however break userspace as the field is currently set to 0, corresponding to V4L2_SUBDEV_FORMAT_TRY, while the corresponding ioctls currently operate on the 'ACTIVE' state. We thus need to add a new subdev client cap, V4L2_SUBDEV_CLIENT_CAP_INTERVAL_USES_WHICH, to indicate that userspace is aware of this new field. All drivers that implement the subdev .get_frame_interval() and .set_frame_interval() operations are updated to return -EINVAL when operating on the TRY state, preserving the current behaviour. While at it, fix a bad copy&paste in the documentation of the struct v4l2_subdev_frame_interval_enum 'which' field. 2023-12-13media: v4l2-subdev: Turn .[gs]_frame_interval into pad operationsLaurent Pinchart1-6/+8
The subdev .[gs]_frame_interval are video operations, but they operate on pads (and even on streams). Not only is this confusing, it causes practical issues for drivers as the operations don't receive a subdev state pointer, requiring manual state handling. To improve the situation, turn the operations into pad operations, and extend them to receive a state pointer like other pad operations. While at it, rename the operations to .[gs]et_frame_interval at the same time to match the naming scheme of other pad operations. This isn't strictly necessary, but given that all drivers using those operations need to be modified, handling the rename separately would generate more churn for very little gain (if at all). 2023-08-10media: v4l: async: Set v4l2_device and subdev in async notifier initSakari Ailus1-2/+2
Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register. This is done in order to make struct device available earlier, during construction of the async connections, for sensible debug prints. 2023-07-28media: v4l: async: Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connectionSakari Ailus1-4/+5
Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connection, in order to differentiate between the sub-devices and their connections: one sub-device can have many connections but the V4L2 async framework has so far allowed just a single one. Connections in this context will later translate into either MC ancillary or data links. This patch prepares changing that relation by changing existing users of v4l2_async_subdev to switch to v4l2_async_connection. Async sub-devices themselves will not be needed anymore Additionally, __v4l2_async_nf_add_subdev() has been renamed __v4l2_async_nf_add_connection(). 2023-07-28media: v4l: async: Simplify async sub-device fwnode matchingSakari Ailus1-13/+1
V4L2 async sub-device matching originally used the device nodes only. Endpoint nodes were taken into use instead as using the device nodes was problematic for it was in some cases ambiguous which link might have been in question. There is however no need to use endpoint nodes on both sides, as the async sub-device's fwnode can always be trivially obtained using fwnode_graph_get_remote_endpoint() when needed while what counts is whether or not the link is between two device nodes, i.e. the device nodes match. This will briefly break the adv748x driver but it will be fixed later in the set, by patch "media: adv748x: Return to endpoint matching". 2023-07-14media: i2c: max9286: drop of_match_ptr for ID tableKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+1
The driver can match only via the DT table so the table should be always used and the of_match_ptr does not have any sense (this also allows ACPI matching via PRP0001, even though it might not be relevant here). 2023-01-22media: i2c: max9286: Select HS as data enable signalLaurent Pinchart1-3/+6
GMSL can transport three synchronization signals: VSync, HSync and Data Enable. The MAX9286 can select either HS or DE as a line valid signal. Not all serializers (and transmission formats) support the DE signal. The MAX9271, used by the RDACM20 and RDACM21 cameras, doesn't document DE support. Nonetheless, the max9286 driver selects the DE signal as line valid in register 0x0c (by not setting the DESEL bit). It's not clear why this works. As HS is a more common line valid qualifier, set the DESEL bit by default. This is needed to support the onsemi MARS cameras. If a camera requires usage of the DE signal in the future, this will need to be made configurable. 2022-01-28media: i2c: max9286: Use "maxim,gpio-poc" propertyJacopo Mondi1-30/+90
The 'maxim,gpio-poc' property is used when the remote camera power-over-coax is controlled by one of the MAX9286 gpio lines, to instruct the driver about which line to use and what the line polarity is. Add to the max9286 driver support for parsing the newly introduced property and use it if available in place of the usual supply, as it is not possible to establish one as consumer of the max9286 gpio controller. If the new property is present, no gpio controller is registered and 'poc-supply' is ignored. In order to maximize code re-use, break out the max9286 gpio handling function so that they can be used by the gpio controller through the gpio-consumer API, or directly by the driver code. Wrap the power up and power down routines to their own function to be able to use either the gpio line directly or the supply. This will make it easier to control the remote camera power at run time. 2021-06-17media: v4l2-subdev: add subdev-wide state structTomi Valkeinen1-8/+9
We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops. I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route configuration to propagate the settings. This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state. The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver changes were done with the semantic patch below. The spatch needs to be applied to a select list of directories. 2021-02-06media: v4l2-async: Improve v4l2_async_notifier_add_*_subdev() APILaurent Pinchart1-7/+7
The functions that add an async subdev to an async subdev notifier take as an argument the size of the container structure they need to allocate. This is error prone, as passing an invalid size will not be caught by the compiler. Wrap those functions in macros that take a container type instead of a size, and cast the returned pointer to the desired type. The compiler will catch mistakes if the incorrect type is passed to the macro, as the assignment types won't match. 2020-09-10media: i2c: max9286: Allocate v4l2_async_subdev dynamicallyLaurent Pinchart1-19/+21
v4l2_async_notifier_add_subdev() requires the asd to be allocated dynamically, but the max9286 driver embeds it in the max9286_source structure. This causes memory corruption when the notifier is destroyed at remove time with v4l2_async_notifier_cleanup(). Fix this issue by registering the asd with v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_subdev(), which allocates it dynamically internally. A new max9286_asd structure is introduced, to store a pointer to the corresonding max9286_source that needs to be accessed from bound and unbind callbacks. There's no need to take an extra explicit reference to the fwnode anymore as v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_subdev() does so internally. While at it, use %u instead of %d to print the unsigned index in the error message from the v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_subdev() error path. The MAX9286 is a 4-channel GMSL deserializer with coax or STP input and CSI-2 output. The device supports multicamera streaming applications, and features the ability to synchronise the attached cameras. CSI-2 output can be configured with 1 to 4 lanes, and a control channel is supported over I2C, which implements an I2C mux to facilitate communications with connected cameras across the reverse control channel.
