2022-02-01net: ena: Do not waste napi skb cacheHyeonggon Yoo1-3/+2
By profiling, discovered that ena device driver allocates skb by build_skb() and frees by napi_skb_cache_put(). Because the driver does not use napi skb cache in allocation path, napi skb cache is periodically filled and flushed. This is waste of napi skb cache. As ena_alloc_skb() is called only in napi, Use napi_build_skb() and napi_alloc_skb() when allocating skb. This patch was tested on aws a1.metal instance. 2022-01-08net: ena: Change ENI stats support check to use capabilities fieldArthur Kiyanovski3-13/+10
Use the capabilities field to query the device for ENI stats support. This replaces the previous method that tried to get the ENI stats during ena_probe() and used the success or failure as an indication for support by the device. Remove eni_stats_supported field from struct ena_adapter. This field was used for the previous method of queriying for ENI stats support. Change the severity level of the print in case of ena_com_get_eni_stats() failure from info to error. With the previous method of querying form ENI stats support, failure to get ENI stats was normal for devices that don't support it. With the use of the capabilities field such a failure is unexpected, as it is called only if the device reported that it supports ENI stats. 2022-01-08net: ena: Add capabilities field with support for ENI stats capabilityArthur Kiyanovski3-1/+30
This bitmask field indicates what capabilities are supported by the device. The capabilities field differs from the 'supported_features' field which indicates what sub-commands for the set/get feature commands are supported. The sub-commands are specified in the 'feature_id' field of the 'ena_admin_set_feat_cmd' struct in the following way: struct ena_admin_set_feat_cmd cmd; cmd.aq_common_descriptor.opcode = ENA_ADMIN_SET_FEATURE; cmd.feat_common.feature_ The 'capabilities' field, on the other hand, specifies different capabilities of the device. For example, whether the device supports querying of ENI stats. Also add an enumerator which contains all the capabilities. The first added capability macro is for ENI stats feature. Capabilities are queried along with the other device attributes (in ena_com_get_dev_attr_feat()) during device initialization and are stored in the ena_com_dev struct. They can be later queried using the ena_com_get_cap() helper function. 2022-01-02net: ena: Fix error handling when calculating max IO queues numberArthur Kiyanovski1-4/+0
The role of ena_calc_max_io_queue_num() is to return the number of queues supported by the device, which means the return value should be >=0. The function that calls ena_calc_max_io_queue_num(), checks the return value. If it is 0, it means the device reported it supports 0 IO queues. This case is considered an error and is handled by the calling function accordingly. However the current implementation of ena_calc_max_io_queue_num() is wrong, since when it detects the device supports 0 IO queues, it returns -EFAULT. In such a case the calling function doesn't detect the error, and therefore doesn't handle it. This commit changes ena_calc_max_io_queue_num() to return 0 in case the device reported it supports 0 queues, allowing the calling function to properly handle the error case. 2022-01-02net: ena: Fix undefined state when tx request id is out of boundsArthur Kiyanovski1-14/+20
ena_com_tx_comp_req_id_get() checks the req_id of a received completion, and if it is out of bounds returns -EINVAL. This is a sign that something is wrong with the device and it needs to be reset. The current code does not reset the device in this case, which leaves the driver in an undefined state, where this completion is not properly handled. This commit adds a call to handle_invalid_req_id() in ena_clean_tx_irq() and ena_clean_xdp_irq() which resets the device to fix the issue. This commit also removes unnecessary request id checks from validate_tx_req_id() and validate_xdp_req_id(). This check is unneeded because it was already performed in ena_com_tx_comp_req_id_get(), which is called right before these functions. 2021-12-14bpf: Let bpf_warn_invalid_xdp_action() report more infoPaolo Abeni1-1/+1
In non trivial scenarios, the action id alone is not sufficient to identify the program causing the warning. Before the previous patch, the generated stack-trace pointed out at least the involved device driver. Let's additionally include the program name and id, and the relevant device name. If the user needs additional infos, he can fetch them via a kernel probe, leveraging the arguments added here. 2021-06-24ena: Remove rcu_read_lock() around XDP program invocationToke Høiland-Jørgensen1-3/+0
The ena driver has rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pairs around XDP program invocations. However, the actual lifetime of the objects referred by the XDP program invocation is longer, all the way through to the call to xdp_do_flush(), making the scope of the rcu_read_lock() too small. This turns out to be harmless because it all happens in a single NAPI poll cycle (and thus under local_bh_disable()), but it makes the rcu_read_lock() misleading. Rather than extend the scope of the rcu_read_lock(), just get rid of it entirely. With the addition of RCU annotations to the XDP_REDIRECT map types that take bh execution into account, lockdep even understands this to be safe, so there's really no reason to keep it around. 2021-06-09net: ena: fix DMA mapping function issues in XDPShay Agroskin1-26/+28
This patch fixes several bugs found when (DMA/LLQ) mapping a packet for transmission. The mapping procedure makes the transmitted packet accessible by the device. When using LLQ, this requires copying the packet's header to push header (which would be passed to LLQ) and creating DMA mapping for the payload (if the packet doesn't fit the maximum push length). When not using LLQ, we map the whole packet with DMA. The following bugs are fixed in the code: 1. Add support for non-LLQ machines: The ena_xdp_tx_map_frame() function assumed that LLQ is supported, and never mapped the whole packet using DMA. On some instances, which don't support LLQ, this causes loss of traffic. 2. Wrong DMA buffer length passed to device: When using LLQ, the first 'tx_max_header_size' bytes of the packet would be copied to push header. The rest of the packet would be copied to a DMA'd buffer. 3. Freeing the XDP buffer twice in case of a mapping error: In case a buffer DMA mapping fails, the function uses xdp_return_frame_rx_napi() to free the RX buffer and returns from the function with an error. XDP frames that fail to xmit get freed by the kernel and so there is no need for this call. This function makes the first descriptor's page to be the linear part of the sk_buff struct buffer. This tweaks several small places to improve the data access in fast path: * Remove duplicates of first_interrupt flag and surround it with WRITE/READ_ONCE macros: The flag is used to detect HW disorders in its interrupt communication with the driver. The flag is set when an interrupt is received and used in the health check function (ena_timer_service()) to help it find irregularities. * Reorder some fields in ena_napi struct to take better advantage of cache access pattern. * Move XDP TX queue number to a variable to save its calculation for every packet. * Use likely in a condition to improve branch prediction The 'first_interrupt' and 'interrupt_masked' flags were moved to reside in the same cache line as the first fields of 'napi' struct. This placement ensures that all memory accessed during upper-half handler reside in the same cacheline (napi_schedule_irqoff() only accesses 'state' and 'poll_list' fields which are at the beginning of napi struct). We want to change the current ndo_xdp_xmit drop semantics because it will allow us to implement better queue overflow handling. This is working towards the larger goal of a XDP TX queue-hook. Move XDP_REDIRECT error path handling from each XDP ethernet driver to devmap code. According to the new APIs, the driver running the ndo_xdp_xmit pointer, will break tx loop whenever the hw reports a tx error and it will just return to devmap caller the number of successfully transmitted frames. It will be devmap responsibility to free dropped frames. 2020-12-10net: ena: introduce ndo_xdp_xmit() function for XDP_REDIRECTShay Agroskin2-12/+72
This patch implements the ndo_xdp_xmit() net_device function which is called when a packet is redirected to this driver using an XDP_REDIRECT directive. The function receives an array of xdp frames that it needs to xmit. The TX queues that are used to xmit these frames are the XDP queues used by the XDP_TX flow. 2020-12-10net: ena: introduce XDP redirect implementationShay Agroskin3-32/+53
This patch adds a partial support for the XDP_REDIRECT directive which instructs the driver to pass the packet to an interface specified by the program. The directive is passed to the driver by calling bpf_redirect() or bpf_redirect_map() functions from the eBPF program. To lay the ground for integration with the existing XDP TX implementation the patch removes the redundant page ref count increase in ena_xdp_xmit_frame() and then decrease in ena_clean_rx_irq(). Instead it only DMA unmaps descriptors for which XDP TX or REDIRECT directive was received. The XDP Redirect support is still missing .ndo_xdp_xmit function implementation, which allows to redirect packet to an ENA interface, which would be added in a later patch. Introduce ena_increase_stat() function to increase statistics by a certain number. The function includes the - lock aquire (on 32bit machines) - stat increase - lock release (on 32bit machines) line sequence that is ubiquitous across the driver. The function increases a single stat at a time and several stats which are increased together weren't put into a function to avoid calling the function several times for each stat which looks bad and might decrease performance.
