2023-06-07net: liquidio: fix mixed module-builtin objectMasahiro Yamada14-3/+89
With CONFIG_LIQUIDIO=m and CONFIG_LIQUIDIO_VF=y (or vice versa), $(common-objs) are linked to a module and also to vmlinux even though the expected CFLAGS are different between builtins and modules. This is the same situation as fixed by commit 637a642f5ca5 ("zstd: Fixing mixed module-builtin objects"). Introduce the new module, liquidio-core, to provide the common functions to liquidio and liquidio-vf. A summary of the flags being set for various drivers is given below. Note that XDP_F_REDIRECT_TARGET and XDP_F_FRAG_TARGET are features that can be turned off and on at runtime. This means that these flags may be set and unset under RTNL lock protection by the driver. Hence, READ_ONCE must be used by code loading the flag value. Also, these flags are not used for synchronization against the availability of XDP resources on a device. It is merely a hint, and hence the read may race with the actual teardown of XDP resources on the device. This may change in the future, e.g. operations taking a reference on the XDP resources of the driver, and in turn inhibiting turning off this flag. However, for now, it can only be used as a hint to check whether device supports becoming a redirection target. Turn 'hw-offload' feature flag on for: - netronome (nfp) - netdevsim. 2021-12-14net_tstamp: add new flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEXHangbin Liu4-13/+0
Since commit 94dd016ae538 ("bond: pass get_ts_info and SIOC[SG]HWTSTAMP ioctl to active device") the user could get bond active interface's PHC index directly. But when there is a failover, the bond active interface will change, thus the PHC index is also changed. This may break the user's program if they did not update the PHC timely. This patch adds a new hwtstamp_config flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX. When the user wants to get the bond active interface's PHC, they need to add this flag and be aware the PHC index may be changed. With the new flag. All flag checks in current drivers are removed. Only the checking in net_hwtstamp_validate() is kept. Suggested-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Hangbin Liu <liuhangbin@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-10-07eth: fwnode: remove the addr len from mac helpersJakub Kicinski1-1/+1
All callers pass in ETH_ALEN and the function itself will return -EINVAL for any other address length. Just assume it's ETH_ALEN like all other mac address helpers (nvm, of, platform). Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2021-10-07eth: fwnode: change the return type of mac address helpersJakub Kicinski1-3/+3
fwnode_get_mac_address() and device_get_mac_address() return a pointer to the buffer that was passed to them on success or NULL on failure. None of the callers care about the actual value, only if it's NULL or not. These semantics differ from of_get_mac_address() which returns an int so to avoid confusion make the device helpers return an errno. 2021-09-27liquidio: Overcome missing device lock protection in init/remove flowsLeon Romanovsky1-7/+12
The liquidio driver is broken by design. It initialize PCI devices in separate delayed works. It causes to the situation where device lock is dropped during initialize and remove sequences. That lock is part of driver/core and needed to protect from races during init, destroy and bus invocations. In addition to lack of locking protection, it has incorrect order of destroy flows and very questionable synchronization scheme based on atomic_t. This change doesn't fix that driver but makes sure that rest of the netdev subsystem doesn't suffer from such basic protection by adding device_lock over devlink_*() APIs and by moving devlink_register() to be last command in setup_nic_devices(). 2021-09-22devlink: Make devlink_register to be voidLeon Romanovsky1-7/+1
devlink_register() can't fail and always returns success, but all drivers are obligated to check returned status anyway. This adds a lot of boilerplate code to handle impossible flow. Make devlink_register() void and simplify the drivers that use that API call.
