2019-06-29e1000e: Reduce boot time by tightening sleep rangesArjan van de Ven1-1/+1
The e1000e driver is a great user of the usleep_range() API, and has nice ranges that in principle help power management. However the ranges that are used only during system startup are very long (and can add easily 100 msec to the boot time) while the power savings of such long ranges is irrelevant due to the one-off, boot only, nature of these functions. 2016-05-14e1000e: use BIT() macro for bit definesJacob Keller1-1/+1
This prevents signed bitshift issues when the shift would overwrite the signed bit, and prevents making this mistake in the future when copying and modifying code. 2013-01-16e1000e: Acquire/release semaphore when writing each EEPROM pageBruce Allan1-11/+11
When data blocks are written to the EEPROM, the HW/SW/FW semaphore must be held for the duration. With large data blocks on 80003es2lan, 82571 and 82572, this can take too long and cause the firmware to take ownership of the semaphore and consequently ownership of writes to the EEPROM. Instead, acquire and release the semaphore for each page of the block written. 2012-02-14e1000e: cleanup goto statements to exit points without common workBruce Allan1-13/+9
Per ./Documentation/CodingStyle, goto statements are acceptable for the centralized exiting of functions when there are multiple exit points which share common work such as cleanup. When no common work is required for multiple exit points, the function should just return at these exit points instead of doing an unnecessary jump to a centralized return. This patch cleans up the inappropriate use of goto statements, and removes unnecessary variables (or move to a smaller scope) where possible as a result of the cleanups. There are two exit points of e1000e_write_nvm_spi() which require the nvm->ops.release() function pointer called just before exiting. Consolidate the two duplicate pieces of common work with a goto. With this change, the value ret_val will need to be returned instead of 0. 2012-01-27e1000e: split lib.c into three more-appropriate filesBruce Allan1-0/+647
The generic lib.c file contains code relative to the various MACs, NVM and Manageability supported by the driver. This patch splits the file into three which are specific to those areas similar to how the PHY-specific code is in phy.c and code specific to the 80003es2lan, 8257x, and ichX MAC families are in their own files. The generic code that is applicable to all MAC/PHY parts supported by the driver remains in netdev.c, param.c and ethtool.c files. No change in functionality, just moving code around for ease of maintenance, with some whitespace and other checkpatch cleanups.
