The ID is actually a PCI ID belonging to realtech. No response was received to earlier attempts to notify them of this. The manufacturers of some devices have replied to say they will not fix this incorrect ID. Add the ID and hope it isn't a problem. bosch,bmi323 - Add BOSC0200 ACPI ID. Note this is a duplicate of one in the bmc150 driver (it appears these parts share a windows driver). Both drivers perform an ID check that is safe on the other part before successfully probing. hid-sensors-als - Add color temperature and chromaticity support. After commit 4a032827daa8 ("of: property: Simplify of_link_to_phandle()"), remote-endpoint properties created a fwnode link from the consumer device to the supplier endpoint. This is a tiny bit inefficient (not buggy) when trying to create device links or detecting cycles. So, improve this the same way we improved finding the consumer of a remote-endpoint property. There are cases where an unavailable port is not an error, making this error message a false-positive. Since commit d56de8c9a17d8 ("usb: typec: tcpm: try to get role switch from tcpc fwnode") the role switch is tried on the port dev first and tcpc fwnode afterwards. If using the latter bindings getting from port dev fails every time. The kernel log is flooded with the messages like: OF: graph: no port node found in /soc@0/bus@42000000/i2c@42530000/usb-typec@50 Silence this message by making it a debug message. There's a lot of changes this development cycle, most of the work falls into two different categories: - fw_devlink fixes and updates. This has gone through numerous review cycles and lots of review and testing by lots of different devices. Hopefully all should be good now, and Saravana will be keeping a watch for any potential regression on odd embedded systems. - driver core changes to work to make struct bus_type able to be moved into read-only memory (i.e. const) The recent work with Rust has pointed out a number of areas in the driver core where we are passing around and working with structures that really do not have to be dynamic at all, and they should be able to be read-only making things safer overall. This is the contuation of that work (started last release with kobject changes) in moving struct bus_type to be constant. We didn't quite make it for this release, but the remaining patches will be finished up for the release after this one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort. The driver core now: - Has the parent device of a supplier pick up the consumers if the supplier never has a device created for it. - Ignores a supplier if the supplier has no parent device and will never be probed by a driver And already prevents creating a device link with the consumer as a supplier of a parent. So, we no longer need to find the "compatible" node of the supplier or do any other checks in of_link_to_phandle(). We simply need to make sure that the supplier is available in DT. When the length of the string is zero of_property_read_string should return -ENODATA according to the description of the function. However, of_property_read_string doesn't check prop->length. If prop->length is zero, return -ENODATA. Without this patch the following command in u-boot: fdt set /chosen/node property-name results in of_property_read_string returning -EILSEQ when attempting to read property-name. With this patch, it returns -ENODATA as expected. This reverts commit cf4b94c8530d14017fbddae26aad064ddc42edd4. Some PHYs pointed to by "phy-handle" will never bind to a driver until a consumer attaches to it. And when the consumer attaches to it, they get forcefully bound to a generic PHY driver. In such cases, parsing the phy-handle property and creating a device link will prevent the consumer from ever probing. We don't want that. So revert support for "phy-handle" property until we come up with a better mechanism for binding PHYs to generic drivers before a consumer tries to attach to it. Andre reported fw_devlink=on breaking OLPC XO-1.5 [1]. OLPC XO-1.5 is an X86 system that uses a mix of ACPI and OF to populate devices. The root cause seems to be ISA devices not setting their fwnode field. But trying to figure out how to fix that doesn't seem worth the trouble because the OLPC devicetree is very sparse/limited and fw_devlink only adds the links causing this issue. Considering that there aren't many users of OF in an X86 system, simply fw_devlink DT support for X86. remote-endpoint property seems to always come in pairs where two devices point to each other. So, we can't really tell from DT if there is a functional probe order dependency between these two devices. However, there can be other dependencies between two devices that point to each other with remote-endpoint. This non-remote-endpoint dependency combined with one of the remote-endpoint dependency can lead to a cyclic dependency[1]. To avoid this cyclic dependency from incorrectly blocking probes, fw_devlink needs to be made aware of remote-endpoint dependencies even though remote-endpoint dependencies by themselves won't affect probe ordering (because fw_devlink will see the cyclic dependency between remote-endpoint devices and ignore the dependencies that cause the cycle). Also, if a device ever needs to know if a non-probe-blocking remote-endpoint has finished probing, it can now use the sync_state() to figure it out. When CONFIG_OF_IRQ is not defined, it doesn't make sense to parse interrupts property. Also, parsing and tracking interrupts property breaks some PPC devices[1]. But none of the IRQ drivers in PPC seem ready to be converted to a proper platform (or any bus) driver. So, there's not much of a point in tracking the interrupts property for CONFIG_PPC. So, let's stop parsing interrupts for CONFIG_PPC.
