2023-01-18platform/x86: sony-laptop: Don't turn off 0x153 keyboard backlight during probeHans de Goede1-7/+14
commit ad75bd85b1db69c97eefea07b375567821f6ef58 upstream. The 0x153 version of the kbd backlight control SNC handle has no separate address to probe if the backlight is there. This turns the probe call into a set keyboard backlight call with a value of 0 turning off the keyboard backlight. Skip probing when there is no separate probe address to avoid this. [ Upstream commit 0b9a1dcdb6a2c841899389bf2dd7a3e0e2aa0e99 ] Previously, `huawei_wmi_input_setup()` returned the result of logical or-ing the return values of two functions that return negative errno-style error codes and one that returns `acpi_status`. If this returned value was non-zero, then it was propagated from the platform driver's probe function. That function should return a negative errno-style error code, so the result of the logical or that `huawei_wmi_input_setup()` returned was not appropriate. Fix that by checking each function separately and returning the error code unmodified. 2022-11-25platform/x86/intel: pmc: Don't unconditionally attach Intel PMC when virtualizedRoger Pau Monné1-0/+9
[ Upstream commit 2dbfb3f33350e1e868d3d7ed4c176d8777150878 ] The current logic in the Intel PMC driver will forcefully attach it when detecting any CPU on the intel_pmc_core_platform_ids array, even if the matching ACPI device is not present. There's no checking in pmc_core_probe() to assert that the PMC device is present, and hence on virtualized environments the PMC device probes successfully, even if the underlying registers are not present. Before commit 21ae43570940 ("platform/x86: intel_pmc_core: Substitute PCI with CPUID enumeration") the driver would check for the presence of a specific PCI device, and that prevented the driver from attaching when running virtualized. Fix by only forcefully attaching the PMC device when not running virtualized. Note that virtualized platforms can still get the device to load if the appropriate ACPI device is present on the tables provided to the VM. Make an exception for the Xen initial domain, which does have full hardware access, and hence can attach to the PMC if present. After upgrading BIOS to U82 01.02.01 Rev.A, the console is flooded strange char "^@" which printed out every second and makes login nearly impossible. Also the below messages were shown both in console and journal/dmesg every second: usb 1-3: Device not responding to setup address. usb 1-3: device not accepting address 4, error -71 usb 1-3: device descriptor read/all, error -71 usb usb1-port3: unable to enumerate USB device Wifi is soft blocked by checking rfkill. When unblocked manually, after few seconds it would be soft blocked again. So I was suspecting something triggered rfkill to soft block wifi. At the end it was fixed by removing hp_wmi module. The root cause is the way hp-wmi driver handles command 1B on post-2009 BIOS. In pre-2009 BIOS, command 1Bh return 0x4 to indicate that BIOS no longer controls the power for the wireless devices. autoloading [ Upstream commit 2a2565272a3628e45d61625e36ef17af7af4e3de ] On a MSI S270 with Fedora 37 x86_64 / systemd-251.4 the module does not properly autoload. This is likely caused by issues with how systemd-udevd handles the single quote char (') which is part of the sys_vendor / chassis_vendor strings on this laptop. As a workaround remove the single quote char + everything behind it from the sys_vendor + chassis_vendor matches. This fixes the module not autoloading. So not only the 2 statements on either side of the || should be inverted, but the || itself should be replaced with a &&. In practice this has likely not been an issue because the new-ec models (old_ec_model==false) likely all support ACPI video backlight control, making acpi_video_get_backlight_type() return acpi_backlight_video turning the second part of the || also false when old_ec_model == false. The F2 key is marked with a big '?' symbol on the Packard Bell Dot SC, this sends WMID_HOTKEY_EVENTs with a scancode of 0x27 add a mapping for this. 2. Scancode 0x61 is KEY_SWITCHVIDEOMODE. Usually this is a duplicate input event with the "Video Bus" input device events. But on these devices the "Video Bus" does not send events for this key. number commit 21d90aaee8d5c2a097ef41f1430d97661233ecc6 upstream. The battery on the 2nd hand Surface 3 which I recently bought appears to not have a serial number programmed in. This results in any I2C reads from the registers containing the serial number failing with an I2C NACK. This was causing mshw0011_bix() to fail causing the battery readings to not work at all. Ignore EREMOTEIO (I2C NACK) errors when retrieving the serial number and continue with an empty serial number to fix this. [ Upstream commit 39f53292181081d35174a581a98441de5da22bc9 ] When WWAN device wake from S3 deep, under thinkpad platform, WWAN would be disabled. This disable status could be checked by command 'nmcli r wwan' or 'rfkill list'. Issue analysis as below: When host resume from S3 deep, thinkpad_acpi driver would call hotkey_resume() function. Finnaly, it will use wan_get_status to check the current status of WWAN device. During this resume progress, wan_get_status would always return off even WWAN boot up completely. In patch V2, Hans said 'sw_state should be unchanged after a suspend/resume. It's better to drop the tpacpi_rfk_update_swstate call all together from the resume path'. And it's confimed by Lenovo that GWAN is no longer available from WHL generation because the design does not match with current pin control. With that said, terminating these tables properly still is obviously the correct thing to do. G15" [ Upstream commit 28117f3a5c3c8375a3304af76357d5bf9cf30f0b ] The quirks added to asus-nb-wmi for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and G15 are wrong, they tell the asus-wmi code to use the vendor specific WMI backlight interface. But there is no such interface on these laptops. As a side effect, these quirks stop the acpi_video driver to register since they make acpi_video_get_backlight_type() return acpi_backlight_vendor, leaving only the native AMD backlight driver in place, which is the one we want. This happy coincidence is being replaced with a new quirk in drivers/acpi/video_detect.c which actually sets the backlight_type to acpi_backlight_native fixinf this properly. TM800A550L tablets [ Upstream commit fcd8cf0e3e48f4c66af82c8e799c37cb0cccffe0 ] The Bay Trail Glavey TM800A550L tablet, which ships with Android installed from the factory, uses a GT912 touchscreen controller which needs to have its firmware uploaded by the OS to work (this is a first for a x86 based device with a Goodix touchscreen controller). Add a touchscreen_dmi entry for this which specifies the filenames to use for the firmware and config files needed for this. Note this matches on a GDIX1001 ACPI HID, while the original DSDT uses a HID of GODX0911. For the touchscreen to work on these devices a DSDT override is necessary to fix a missing IRQ and broken GPIO settings in the ACPI-resources for the touchscreen. This override also changes the HID to the standard GDIX1001 id typically used for Goodix touchscreens. Note the touchscreen_dmi.c code attaches standard touchscreen device-properties to an i2c-client device based on a combination of a DMI match + a device-name match. I've verified that the: Teclast X98 Pro, WinBook TW100 and WinBook TW700 uses an ACPI devicename of "GDIX1001:00" based on acpidumps and/or dmesg output available on the web. This patch was tested on a Teclast X89 tablet. 2021-05-26platform/x86: intel_int0002_vgpio: Only call enable_irq_wake() when using s2idleHans de Goede2-25/+57
[ Upstream commit b68e182a3062e326b891f47152a3a1b84abccf0f ] Commit 871f1f2bcb01 ("platform/x86: intel_int0002_vgpio: Only implement irq_set_wake on Bay Trail") stopped passing irq_set_wake requests on to the parents IRQ because this was breaking suspend (causing immediate wakeups) on an Asus E202SA. This workaround for the Asus E202SA is causing wakeup by USB keyboard to not work on other devices with Airmont CPU cores such as the Medion Akoya E1239T. In hindsight the problem with the Asus E202SA has nothing to do with Silvermont vs Airmont CPU cores, so the differentiation between the 2 types of CPU cores introduced by the previous fix is wrong. The real issue at hand is s2idle vs S3 suspend where the suspend is mostly handled by firmware. The parent IRQ for the INT0002 device is shared with the ACPI SCI and the real problem is that the INT0002 code should not be messing with the wakeup settings of that IRQ when suspend/resume is being handled by the firmware. Note that on systems which support both s2idle and S3 suspend, which suspend method to use can be changed at runtime. This patch fixes both the Asus E202SA spurious wakeups issue as well as the wakeup by USB keyboard not working on the Medion Akoya E1239T issue. These are both fixed by replacing the old workaround with delaying the enable_irq_wake(parent_irq) call till system-suspend time and protecting it with a !pm_suspend_via_firmware() check so that we still do not call it on devices using firmware-based (S3) suspend such as the Asus E202SA. Note rather then adding #ifdef CONFIG_PM_SLEEP, this commit simply adds a "depends on PM_SLEEP" to the Kconfig since this drivers whole purpose is to deal with wakeup events, so using it without CONFIG_PM_SLEEP makes no sense.
