2021-01-20thermal/core: Remove ms based delay fieldsDaniel Lezcano1-2/+2
The code does no longer use the ms unit based fields to set the delays as they are replaced by the jiffies. Remove them and replace their user to use the jiffies version instead. 2020-06-29thermal: Use mode helpers in driversAndrzej Pietrasiewicz1-1/+5
Use thermal_zone_device_{en|dis}able() and thermal_zone_device_is_enabled(). Consequently, all set_mode() implementations in drivers: - can stop modifying tzd's "mode" member, - shall stop taking tzd's lock, as it is taken in the helpers - shall stop calling thermal_zone_device_update() as it is called in the helpers - can assume they are called when the mode truly changes, so checks to verify that can be dropped Not providing set_mode() by a driver no longer prevents the core from being able to set tzd's mode, so the relevant check in mode_store() is removed. Other comments: - acpi/thermal.c: tz->thermal_zone->mode will be updated only after we return from set_mode(), so use function parameter in thermal_set_mode() instead, no need to call acpi_thermal_check() in set_mode() - thermal/imx_thermal.c: regmap writes and mode assignment are done in thermal_zone_device_{en|dis}able() and set_mode() callback - thermal/intel/intel_quark_dts_thermal.c: soc_dts_{en|dis}able() are a part of set_mode() callback, so they don't need to modify tzd->mode, and don't need to fall back to the opposite mode if unsuccessful, as the return value will be propagated to thermal_zone_device_{en|dis}able() and ultimately tzd's member will not be changed in thermal_zone_device_set_mode(). - thermal/of-thermal.c: no need to set zone->mode to DISABLED in of_parse_thermal_zones() as a tzd is kzalloc'ed so mode is DISABLED anyway Signed-off-by: Andrzej Pietrasiewicz <andrzej.p@collabora.com> [for acerhdf] Acked-by: Peter Kaestle <peter@piie.net> Reviewed-by: Amit Kucheria <amit.kucheria@linaro.org> Reviewed-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <b.zolnierkie@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Lezcano <daniel.lezcano@linaro.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20200629122925.21729-8-andrzej.p@collabora.com
2020-06-29thermal: remove get_mode() operation of driversAndrzej Pietrasiewicz1-8/+0
get_mode() is now redundant, as the state is stored in struct thermal_zone_device. Consequently the "mode" attribute in sysfs can always be visible, because it is always possible to get the mode from struct tzd. 2018-10-25thermal: da9062/61: Prevent hardware access during system suspendGeert Uytterhoeven1-2/+2
The workqueue used for monitoring the hardware may run while the device is already suspended. Fix this by using the freezable system workqueue instead, cfr. commit 51e20d0e3a60cf46 ("thermal: Prevent polling from happening during system suspend"). 2017-04-07thermal: da9062/61: Thermal junction temperature monitoring driverSteve Twiss1-0/+315
Add junction temperature monitoring supervisor device driver, compatible with the DA9062 and DA9061 PMICs. A MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() macro is added. If the PMIC's internal junction temperature rises above T_WARN (125 degC) an interrupt is issued. This T_WARN level is defined as the THERMAL_TRIP_HOT trip-wire inside the device driver. The thermal triggering mechanism is interrupt based and happens when the temperature rises above a given threshold level. The component cannot return an exact temperature, it only has knowledge if the temperature is above or below a given threshold value. A status bit must be polled to detect when the temperature falls below that threshold level again. A kernel work queue is configured to repeatedly poll and detect when the temperature falls below this trip-wire, between 1 and 10 second intervals (defaulting at 3 seconds). This scheme is provided as an example. It would be expected that any final implementation will also include a notify() function and any of these settings could be altered to match the application where appropriate. When over-temperature is reached, the interrupt from the DA9061/2 will be repeatedly triggered. The IRQ is therefore disabled when the first over-temperature event happens and the status bit is polled using a work-queue until it becomes false. This strategy is designed to allow the periodic transmission of uevents (HOT trip point) as the first level of temperature supervision method. It is intended for non-invasive temperature control, where the necessary measures for cooling the system down are left to the host software. Once the temperature falls again, the IRQ is re-enabled so a new critical over-temperature event can be detected.
