2020-08-03fbdev: Use fallthrough pseudo-keywordGustavo A. R. Silva1-1/+1
Replace the existing /* fall through */ comments and its variants with the new pseudo-keyword macro fallthrough[1]. Also, remove unnecessary fall-through markings when it is the case. 2020-04-17video: fbdev: arcfb: add missed free_irq and fix the order of request_irqChuhong Yuan1-4/+6
The driver forgets to free irq in remove which is requested in probe. Add the missed call to fix it. Also, the position of request_irq() in probe should be put before register_framebuffer(). 2019-12-05video: constify fb ops across all driversJani Nikula1-1/+1
Now that the fbops member of struct fb_info is const, we can start making the ops const as well. This does not cover all drivers; some actually modify the fbops struct, for example to adjust for different configurations, and others do more involved things that I'd rather not touch in practically obsolete drivers. Mostly this is the low hanging fruit where we can add "const" and be done with it. v3: - un-constify atyfb, mb862xx, nvidia and uvesabf (0day) v2: - fix typo (Christophe de Dinechin) - use "static const" instead of "const static" in mx3fb.c - also constify smscufx.c Cc: linux-fbdev@vger.kernel.org Reviewed-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/ce67f14435f3af498f2e8bf35ce4be11f7504132.1575390740.git.jani.nikula@intel.com

In preparation to enabling -Wimplicit-fallthrough, mark switch cases where we are expecting to fall through. Addresses-Coverity-ID: 115017 ("Missing break in switch") Signed-off-by: Gustavo A. R. 2017-04-20Annotate hardware config module parameters in drivers/video/David Howells1-4/+4
When the kernel is running in secure boot mode, we lock down the kernel to prevent userspace from modifying the running kernel image. Whilst this includes prohibiting access to things like /dev/mem, it must also prevent access by means of configuring driver modules in such a way as to cause a device to access or modify the kernel image. To this end, annotate module_param* statements that refer to hardware configuration and indicate for future reference what type of parameter they specify. The parameter parser in the core sees this information and can skip such parameters with an error message if the kernel is locked down. The module initialisation then runs as normal, but just sees whatever the default values for those parameters is. Note that we do still need to do the module initialisation because some drivers have viable defaults set in case parameters aren't specified and some drivers support automatic configuration (e.g. PNP or PCI) in addition to manually coded parameters. This patch annotates drivers in drivers/video/. 2016-09-27video: fbdev: constify fb_fix_screeninfo and fb_var_screeninfo structuresJulia Lawall1-2/+2
These structures are only used to copy into other structures, so declare them as const. The semantic patch that makes this change in the fb_fix_screeninfo case is as follows (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/). The fb_var_screeninfo case is analogous. // <smpl> @r disable optional_qualifier@ identifier i; position p; @@ static struct fb_fix_screeninfo i@p = { ... }; @ok@ identifier r.i; expression e; position p; @@ e = i@p @bad@ position p != {r.p,ok.p}; identifier r.i; struct fb_fix_screeninfo e; @@ e@i@p @depends on !bad disable optional_qualifier@ identifier r.i; @@ static +const struct fb_fix_screeninfo i = { ... }; // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com>
2014-04-17video: move fbdev to drivers/video/fbdevTomi Valkeinen1-0/+667
The drivers/video directory is a mess. It contains generic video related files, directories for backlight, console, linux logo, lots of fbdev device drivers, fbdev framework files. Make some order into the chaos by creating drivers/video/fbdev directory, and move all fbdev related files there. No functionality is changed, although I guess it is possible that some subtle Makefile build order related issue could be created by this patch.
