Several types of UAFs can occur when physically removing a USB device. Adds ufx_ops_destroy() function to .fb_destroy of fb_ops, and in this function, there is kref_put() that finally calls ufx_free(). This fix prevents multiple UAFs. The function xilinxfb_release() returns zero unconditionally. Make it return void. There is no semantic change, the only effect is that it becomes obvious that the driver's .remove() callback always returns zero. 2022-10-18fbdev: stifb: Fall back to cfb_fillrect() on 32-bit HCRX cardsHelge Deller1-1/+2
When the text console is scrolling text upwards it calls the fillrect() function to empty the new line. The current implementation doesn't seem to work correctly on HCRX cards in 32-bit mode and leave garbage in that line instead. Fix it by falling back to standard cfb_fillrect() in that case. Even in the presence of problems (here: regulator_disable() might fail), it's important to unregister all resources acquired during .probe() and disable the device (i.e. DMA activity) because even if .remove() returns an error code, the device is removed and the .remove() callback is never called again later to catch up. This is a preparation for making platform remove callbacks return void. The intent of this pull is to clean up the way callers fetch random integers. The current rules for doing this right are: - If you want a secure or an insecure random u64, use get_random_u64() - If you want a secure or an insecure random u32, use get_random_u32() The old function prandom_u32() has been deprecated for a while now and is just a wrapper around get_random_u32(). Same for get_random_int(). - If you want a secure or an insecure random u16, use get_random_u16() - If you want a secure or an insecure random u8, use get_random_u8() - If you want secure or insecure random bytes, use get_random_bytes(). The old function prandom_bytes() has been deprecated for a while now and has long been a wrapper around get_random_bytes() - If you want a non-uniform random u32, u16, or u8 bounded by a certain open interval maximum, use prandom_u32_max() I say "non-uniform", because it doesn't do any rejection sampling or divisions. Hence, it stays within the prandom_*() namespace, not the get_random_*() namespace. I'm currently investigating a "uniform" function for 6.2. We'll see what comes of that. By applying these rules uniformly, we get several benefits: - By using prandom_u32_max() with an upper-bound that the compiler can prove at compile-time is ≤65536 or ≤256, internally get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() is used, which wastes fewer batched random bytes, and hence has higher throughput. - By using prandom_u32_max() instead of %, when the upper-bound is not a constant, division is still avoided, because prandom_u32_max() uses a faster multiplication-based trick instead. - By using get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() in cases where the return value is intended to indeed be a u16 or a u8, we waste fewer batched random bytes, and hence have higher throughput. This series was originally done by hand while I was on an airplane without Internet. Later, Kees and I worked on retroactively figuring out what could be done with Coccinelle and what had to be done manually, and then we split things up based on that. 2022-10-12treewide: use get_random_u32() when possibleJason A. Donenfeld1-1/+1
The prandom_u32() function has been a deprecated inline wrapper around get_random_u32() for several releases now, and compiles down to the exact same code. Replace the deprecated wrapper with a direct call to the real function. The same also applies to get_random_int(), which is just a wrapper around get_random_u32(). This was done as a basic find and replace. 2022-10-08fbdev: mb862xx: Fix check of return value from irq_of_parse_and_map()Christophe Leroy1-1/+1
NO_IRQ is used to check the return of irq_of_parse_and_map(). On some architecture NO_IRQ is 0, on other architectures it is -1. irq_of_parse_and_map() returns 0 on error, independent of NO_IRQ. A race condition may occur if the user physically removes the USB device while calling open() for this device node. This is a race condition between the ufx_ops_open() function and the ufx_usb_disconnect() function, which may eventually result in UAF. So, add a mutex to the ufx_ops_open() and ufx_usb_disconnect() functions to avoid race contidion of krefs. 2022-09-04video/hdmi: Add audio_infoframe packing for DPMarkus Schneider-Pargmann1-19/+63
Similar to HDMI, DP uses audio infoframes as well which are structured very similar to the HDMI ones. This patch adds a helper function to pack the HDMI audio infoframe for DP, called hdmi_audio_infoframe_pack_for_dp(). hdmi_audio_infoframe_pack_only() is split into two parts. One of them packs the payload only and can be used for HDMI and DP. Also constify the frame parameter in hdmi_audio_infoframe_check() as it is passed to hdmi_audio_infoframe_check_only() which expects a const. 2022-08-26fbdev: fbcon: Properly revert changes when vc_resize() failedShigeru Yoshida1-2/+25
fbcon_do_set_font() calls vc_resize() when font size is changed. However, if if vc_resize() failed, current implementation doesn't revert changes for font size, and this causes inconsistent state. syzbot reported unable to handle page fault due to this issue [1]. syzbot's repro uses fault injection which cause failure for memory allocation, so vc_resize() failed. This patch fixes this issue by properly revert changes for font related date when vc_resize() failed. In `do_fb_ioctl()` of fbmem.c, if cmd is FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO, var will be copied from user, then go through `fb_set_var()` and `info->fbops->fb_check_var()` which could may be `pm2fb_check_var()`. Along the path, `var->pixclock` won't be modified. This function checks whether reciprocal of `var->pixclock` is too high. If `var->pixclock` is zero, there will be a divide by zero error. So, it is necessary to check whether denominator is zero to avoid crash. The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before.
