If the output driving type is push-pull mode, the output polarity should be selected in advance. Otherwise, an unexpected value will be output at the moment of changing to push-pull mode. 2022-03-27watchdog: aspeed: add nowayout supportEduardo Valentin1-0/+7
Add support for not stopping the watchdog when the userspace application quits. At closing of the device, the driver cannot determine if this was a graceful closure or if the app crashed. If the support of nowayout on this driver, the system integrator can select the behaviour by setting the kernel config and enabling it. 2019-11-18watchdog: aspeed: Fix clock behaviour for ast2600Joel Stanley1-6/+10
The ast2600 no longer uses bit 4 in the control register to indicate a 1MHz clock (It now controls whether this watchdog is reset by a SOC reset). This means we do not want to set it. It also does not need to be set for the ast2500, as it is read-only on that SoC. The comment next to the clock rate selection wandered away from where it was set, so put it back next to the register setting it's describing. Set WDT_CLEAR_TIMEOUT_AND_BOOT_CODE_SELECTION into WDT_CLEAR_TIMEOUT_STATUS to clear out boot code source and re-enable access to the primary SPI flash chip while booted via wdt2 from the alternate chip. AST2400 datasheet says: "In the 2nd flash booting mode, all the address mapping to CS0# would be re-directed to CS1#. And CS0# is not accessible under this mode. To access CS0#, firmware should clear the 2nd boot mode register in the WDT2 status register WDT30.bit[1]." Allow the device tree to specify a watchdog to fallover to the alternate boot source. The aspeeed watchdog can set a latch directing flash chip select 0 to chip select 1, allowing boot from an alternate media if the watchdog is not reset in time. On the ast2400 bank 1 also goes to flash bank 1, while on the ast2500 the chip selects are swapped. Also clear the secondary boot bit during the machine restart operation. Otherwise, the system will switch to the alternate boot after every reboot, which is not desired. 2018-03-13watchdog: aspeed: Fix translation of reset mode to ctrl registerMilton Miller1-3/+6
Assert RESET_SYSTEM bit for any reset and set MODE field from reset type. The watchdog control register has a RESET_SYSTEM bit that is really closer to activate a reset, and RESET_SYSTEM_MODE field that chooses how much to reset. Before this patch, a node without these optional property would do a SOC reset, but a node with properties requesting a cpu or SOC reset would do nothing and a node requesting a system reset would do a SOC reset. Probing at device_initcall time lead to perverse cases where the watchdog was probed after, say, I2C devices, which then leaves a potentially running watchdog at the mercy of I2C device behaviour and bus conditions. Load the watchdog driver early to ensure that the kernel is patting it well before initialising peripherals. 2017-12-28watchdog: aspeed: Retain watchdog enabled stateAndrew Jeffery1-2/+6
An unintended post-condition of probe() is that the watchdog is disabled. This behaviour was introduced by an unnecessary write to the control register to configure the hardware based on the devicetree. The write is unnecessary because the cached control value that is manipulated by the code parsing the devicetree is eventually written by aspeed_wdt_enable(), which is when we care how the control register should be configured. Remove the write to restore expected behaviour. Reference the system device tree when configuring the watchdog engines. If property 'aspeed,reset_type' is present then set reset behavior based on the specified value. This can be one of three different mutually exclusive values * cpu - Reset CPU only on watchdog timeout * soc - Reset System on Chip * system - Full system reset No reset can also be specified by indicating: * none - No reset, assumes another watchdog is responsible for this. Add optional property 'aspeed,external-signal'. If present then configure to generate external signal on watchdog timeout.
