All the callers now have a folio, so pass it in, and convert do_readpage() to us folios directly. Includes unifying the exit paths from this function and using kmap_local instead of plain kmap. This function should now work with large folios, but this is not tested. 2024-02-25ubifs: Set page uptodate in the correct placeMatthew Wilcox (Oracle)1-9/+4
Page cache reads are lockless, so setting the freshly allocated page uptodate before we've overwritten it with the data it's supposed to have in it will allow a simultaneous reader to see old data. Move the call to SetPageUptodate into ubifs_write_end(), which is after we copied the new data into the page. 2023-08-09fs: drop the timespec64 arg from generic_update_timeJeff Layton1-2/+4
In future patches we're going to change how the ctime is updated to keep track of when it has been queried. The way that the update_time operation works (and a lot of its callers) make this difficult, since they grab a timestamp early and then pass it down to eventually be copied into the inode. All of the existing update_time callers pass in the result of current_time() in some fashion. Drop the "time" parameter from generic_update_time, and rework it to fetch its own timestamp. This change means that an update_time could fetch a different timestamp than was seen in inode_needs_update_time. update_time is only ever called with one of two flag combinations: Either S_ATIME is set, or S_MTIME|S_CTIME|S_VERSION are set. With this change we now treat the flags argument as an indicator that some value needed to be updated when last checked, rather than an indication to update specific timestamps. Rework the logic for updating the timestamps and put it in a new inode_update_timestamps helper that other update_time routines can use. S_ATIME is as treated as we always have, but if any of the other three are set, then we attempt to update all three. Also, some callers of generic_update_time need to know what timestamps were actually updated. Change it to return an S_* flag mask to indicate that and rework the callers to expect it. Convert to struct mnt_idmap. Last cycle we merged the necessary infrastructure in 256c8aed2b42 ("fs: introduce dedicated idmap type for mounts"). This is just the conversion to struct mnt_idmap. Currently we still pass around the plain namespace that was attached to a mount. This is in general pretty convenient but it makes it easy to conflate namespaces that are relevant on the filesystem with namespaces that are relevent on the mount level. Especially for non-vfs developers without detailed knowledge in this area this can be a potential source for bugs. Once the conversion to struct mnt_idmap is done all helpers down to the really low-level helpers will take a struct mnt_idmap argument instead of two namespace arguments. This way it becomes impossible to conflate the two eliminating the possibility of any bugs. All of the vfs and all filesystems only operate on struct mnt_idmap. This causes concurrent accessing on page refcount between put_page() called by other process(eg. read process calls lru_cache_add) and page_ref_unfreeze() called by migration task. Actually zhangjun has tried to fix this problem [2] by recalculating page refcnt in ubifs_migrate_page(). It's better to follow MM rules [1], because just like Kirill suggested in [2], we need to check all users of page_has_private() helper. Like f2fs does in [3], fix it by adding/deleting refcount when setting/clearing private for a page. BTW, according to [4], we set 'page->private' as 1 because ubifs just simply SetPagePrivate(). And, [5] provided a common helper to set/clear page private, ubifs can use this helper following the example of iomap, afs, btrfs, etc. Jump [6] to find a reproducer. 2021-07-26ubifs: report correct st_size for encrypted symlinksEric Biggers1-1/+12
The stat() family of syscalls report the wrong size for encrypted symlinks, which has caused breakage in several userspace programs. Fix this by calling fscrypt_symlink_getattr() after ubifs_getattr() for encrypted symlinks. This function computes the correct size by reading and decrypting the symlink target (if it's not already cached). For more details, see the commit which added fscrypt_symlink_getattr(). 2021-01-24fs: make helpers idmap mount awareChristian Brauner1-1/+2
Extend some inode methods with an additional user namespace argument. A filesystem that is aware of idmapped mounts will receive the user namespace the mount has been marked with. This can be used for additional permission checking and also to enable filesystems to translate between uids and gids if they need to. We have implemented all relevant helpers in earlier patches. As requested we simply extend the exisiting inode method instead of introducing new ones. This is a little more code churn but it's mostly mechanical and doesnt't leave us with additional inode methods. When file attributes are changed most filesystems rely on the setattr_prepare(), setattr_copy(), and notify_change() helpers for initialization and permission checking. Let them handle idmapped mounts. If the inode is accessed through an idmapped mount map it into the mount's user namespace. Afterwards the checks are identical to non-idmapped mounts. If the initial user namespace is passed nothing changes so non-idmapped mounts will see identical behavior as before. Helpers that perform checks on the ia_uid and ia_gid fields in struct iattr assume that ia_uid and ia_gid are intended values and have already been mapped correctly at the userspace-kernelspace boundary as we already do today. Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1] (or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings (e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized, either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes. 2020-04-09ubifs: remove broken lazytime supportChristoph Hellwig1-5/+1
When "ubifs: introduce UBIFS_ATIME_SUPPORT to ubifs" introduced atime support to ubifs, it also added lazytime support. As far as I can tell the lazytime support is terminally broken, as it causes mark_inode_dirty_sync to be called from __writeback_single_inode, which will then trigger the locking assert in ubifs_dirty_inode. Just remove the broken lazytime support for now, it can be added back later, especially as some infrastructure changes should make that easier soon. There's no need for the ubifs_crypt_is_encrypted() function anymore. Just use IS_ENCRYPTED() instead, like ext4 and f2fs do. IS_ENCRYPTED() checks the VFS-level flag instead of the UBIFS-specific flag, but it shouldn't change any behavior since the flags are kept in sync.
