2023-07-28net: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring1-0/+1
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2022-11-29of: net: export of_get_mac_address_nvmem()Miquel Raynal1-2/+3
Export of_get_mac_addr_nvmem() and rename it to of_get_mac_address_nvmem() in order to fit the convention followed by the existing exported helpers of the same kind. This way, OF compatible drivers using eg. fwnode_get_mac_address() can do a direct call to it instead of calling of_get_mac_address() just for the nvmem step, avoiding to repeat an expensive DT lookup which has already been done once. Eventually, fwnode_get_mac_address() should probably be updated to perform the nvmem lookup directly, but as of today, nvmem cells seem not to be supported by ACPI yet which would defeat this kind of extension. 2022-01-12Revert "of: net: support NVMEM cells with MAC in text format"Michael Walle1-22/+11
This reverts commit 9ed319e411915e882bb4ed99be3ae78667a70022. We can already post process a nvmem cell value in a particular driver. Instead of having yet another place to convert the values, the post processing hook of the nvmem provider should be used in this case. 2021-12-29of: net: support NVMEM cells with MAC in text formatRafał Miłecki1-11/+22
Some NVMEM devices have text based cells. In such cases MAC is stored in a XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX format. Use mac_pton() to parse such data and support those NVMEM cells. This is required to support e.g. a very popular U-Boot and its environment variables. Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <rafal@milecki.pl> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2021-10-07of: net: add a helper for loading netdev->dev_addrJakub Kicinski1-0/+25
Commit 406f42fa0d3c ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. There are roughly 40 places where netdev->dev_addr is passed as the destination to a of_get_mac_address() call. Add a helper which takes a dev pointer instead, so it can call an appropriate helper. Note that of_get_mac_address() already assumes the address is 6 bytes long (ETH_ALEN) so use eth_hw_addr_set(). Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S.
