Fun set of conflict resolutions here... For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel adds. Trivially resolved. In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in 'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed. In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the 'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied over here. The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code. The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial, the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and here are their notes: ==================== Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch and the for-next branch. This merge resolves those conflicts and provides a unified base upon which ongoing development for 4.17 can be based. Conflicts: drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/main.c - Commit 42cea83f9524 (IB/mlx5: Fix cleanup order on unload) added to for-rc and commit b5ca15ad7e61 (IB/mlx5: Add proper representors support) add as part of the devel cycle both needed to modify the init/de-init functions used by mlx5. To support the new representors, the new functions added by the cleanup patch needed to be made non-static, and the init/de-init list added by the representors patch needed to be modified to match the init/de-init list changes made by the cleanup patch. Updates: drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.h - Update function prototypes added by representors patch to reflect new function names as changed by cleanup patch drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/ib_rep.c - Update init/de-init stage list to match new order from cleanup patch ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-03-21mac80211: add ieee80211_hw flag for QoS NDP supportBen Caradoc-Davies2-1/+3
Commit 7b6ddeaf27ec ("mac80211: use QoS NDP for AP probing") added an argument qos_ok to ieee80211_nullfunc_get to support QoS NDP. Despite the claim in the commit log "Change all the drivers to *not* allow QoS NDP for now, even though it looks like most of them should be OK with that", this commit enables QoS NDP in response to beacons (see change to mlme.c:ieee80211_send_nullfunc), causing ath9k_htc to lose IP connectivity. See: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10241109/ https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=891060 Introduce a hardware flag to allow such buggy drivers to override the correct default behaviour of mac80211 of sending QoS NDP packets. 2018-02-27mac80211: support A-MSDU in fast-rxFelix Fietkau1-51/+73
Only works if the IV was stripped from packets. Create a smaller variant of ieee80211_rx_h_amsdu, which bypasses checks already done within the fast-rx context. In order to do so, update cfg80211's ieee80211_data_to_8023_exthdr() to take the offset between header and snap. 2018-02-27mac80211: agg-rx: Accept ADDBA request update if timeout did not changeIlan Peer1-2/+12
As there is no support for updating an existing ADDBA session with a peer, we decline the request (while keeping the session active). However, in case that the timeout did not change, there is no need to decline the request, so modify the code to reply with status success in such a case (this is useful for interoperability with APs that send an ADDBA request update without changing the timeout value). 2018-02-23mac80211: Adjust TSQ pacing shiftToke Høiland-Jørgensen1-0/+8
Since we now have the convenient helper to do so, actually adjust the TSQ pacing shift for packets going out over a WiFi interface. This significantly improves throughput for locally-originated TCP connections. The default pacing shift of 10 corresponds to ~1ms of queued packet data. Adjusting this to a shift of 8 (i.e. ~4ms) improves 1-hop throughput for ath9k by a factor of 3, whereas increasing it more has diminishing returns. Achieved throughput for different values of sk_pacing_shift (average of 5 iterations of 10-sec netperf runs to a host on the other side of the WiFi hop): sk_pacing_shift 10: 43.21 Mbps (pre-patch) sk_pacing_shift 9: 78.17 Mbps sk_pacing_shift 8: 123.94 Mbps sk_pacing_shift 7: 128.31 Mbps Latency for competing flows increases from ~3 ms to ~10 ms with this change. This is about the same magnitude of queueing latency induced by flows that are not originated on the WiFi device itself (and so are not limited by TSQ). 2018-02-22mac80211: Call mgd_prep_tx before transmitting deauthenticationIlan Peer2-1/+16
In multi channel scenarios, when disassociating from the AP before a beacon was heard from the AP, it is not guaranteed that the virtual interface is granted air time for the transmission of the deauthentication frame. This in turn can lead to various issues as the AP might never get the deauthentication frame. To mitigate such possible issues, add a HW flag indicating that the driver requires mac80211 to call the mgd_prep_tx() driver callback to make sure that the virtual interface is granted immediate airtime to be able to transmit the frame, in case that no beacon was heard from the AP. 2018-02-19mac80211: Do not disconnect on invalid operating classIlan Peer1-4/+3
Some APs include a non global operating class in their extended channel switch information element. In such a case, as the operating class is not known, mac80211 would decide to disconnect. However the specification states that the operating class needs to be taken from Annex E, but it does not specify from which table it should be taken, so it is valid for an AP to use a non global operating class. To avoid possibly unneeded disconnection, in such a case ignore the operating class and assume that the current band is used, and if the resulting channel and band configuration is invalid disconnect. 2017-12-11rhashtable: Change rhashtable_walk_start to return voidTom Herbert1-24/+10
Most callers of rhashtable_walk_start don't care about a resize event which is indicated by a return value of -EAGAIN. So calls to rhashtable_walk_start are wrapped wih code to ignore -EAGAIN. Something like this is common: ret = rhashtable_walk_start(rhiter); if (ret && ret != -EAGAIN) goto out; Since zero and -EAGAIN are the only possible return values from the function this check is pointless. The condition never evaluates to true. This patch changes rhashtable_walk_start to return void. This simplifies code for the callers that ignore -EAGAIN. For the few cases where the caller cares about the resize event, particularly where the table can be walked in mulitple parts for netlink or seq file dump, the function rhashtable_walk_start_check has been added that returns -EAGAIN on a resize event. 2017-12-11mac80211: Add airtime account and scheduling to TXQsToke Høiland-Jørgensen9-8/+97
This adds airtime accounting and scheduling to the mac80211 TXQ scheduler. A new hardware flag, AIRTIME_ACCOUNTING, is added that drivers can set if they support reporting airtime usage of transmissions. When this flag is set, mac80211 will expect the actual airtime usage to be reported in the tx_time and rx_time fields of the respective status structs. When airtime information is present, mac80211 will schedule TXQs (through ieee80211_next_txq()) in a way that enforces airtime fairness between active stations. This scheduling works the same way as the ath9k in-driver airtime fairness scheduling. Signed-off-by: Toke Høiland-Jørgensen <toke@toke.dk> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-12-11mac80211: Add TXQ scheduling APIToke Høiland-Jørgensen7-41/+73
This adds an API to mac80211 to handle scheduling of TXQs and changes the interface between driver and mac80211 for TXQ handling as follows: - The wake_tx_queue callback interface no longer includes the TXQ. Instead, the driver is expected to retrieve that from ieee80211_next_txq() - Two new mac80211 functions are added: ieee80211_next_txq() and ieee80211_schedule_txq(). The former returns the next TXQ that should be scheduled, and is how the driver gets a queue to pull packets from. The latter is called internally by mac80211 to start scheduling a queue, and the driver is supposed to call it to re-schedule the TXQ after it is finished pulling packets from it (unless the queue emptied). The ath9k and ath10k drivers are changed to use the new API. Signed-off-by: Toke Høiland-Jørgensen <toke@toke.dk> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2017-12-11mac80211: don't warn on AID field without top two MSBs setJohannes Berg1-4/+5
While the change between 802.11-2012 and 802.11-2016 to move from requiring APs to set the two top bits to now requiring them to be cleared was apparently unintentional and will be fixed, clients should either way assume that the top five bits are reserved and ignore them. 2017-12-11mac80211: remove BUG() when interface type is invalidLuca Coelho1-1/+1
In the ieee80211_setup_sdata() we check if the interface type is valid and, if not, call BUG(). This should never happen, but if there is something wrong with the code, it will not be caught until the bug happens when an interface is being set up. Calling BUG() is too extreme for this and a WARN_ON() would be better used instead. Change that. 2017-12-11mac80211: call synchronize_net once in the restart flowSara Sharon3-10/+15
Currently the restart flow enables RX back, and then proceeds to tear down RX and TX aggregations. The TX aggregation tear down calls synchronize_net(), which waits for packet receiving to be done. This is done for every session, while RX processing is already active, and in some reproductions it takes up to 3 seconds. Add a call once in the restart_work, before we have traffic active again, and remove the subsequent calls when tearing down the aggregation. This requires to move down the code that turns off the reconfig flag in order to be able to test it in _ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session(). 2017-12-11mac80211: always update the PM state of a peer on MGMT / DATA framesEmmanuel Grumbach1-12/+5
The 2016 version of the spec is more generic about when the AP should update the power management state of the peer: the AP shall update the state based on any management or data frames. This means that even non-bufferable management frames should be looked at to update to maintain the power management state of the peer. This can avoid problematic cases for example if a station disappears while being asleep and then re-appears. The AP would remember it as in power save, but the Authentication frame couldn't be used to set the peer as awake again. Note that this issues wasn't really critical since at some point (after the association) we would have removed the station and created another one with all the states cleared. Allow drivers to set the buffer station extended capability for TDLS links, with a new hardware flag indicating this. Signed-off-by: Yingying Tang <yintang@qti.qualcomm.com> [change commit log/documentation wording] Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-12-11mac80211: avoid looking up tid_tx/tid_rx from timersJohannes Berg2-37/+11
There's no need to re-lookup the data structures now that we actually get them immediately with from_timer(), just avoid that. The struct has to be valid anyway, otherwise the timer object itself would no longer be valid, and we can't have a different version of the struct since only a single session per TID is permitted. 2017-12-11mac80211: mark expected switch fall-throughsGustavo A. R. Silva10-4/+14
In preparation to enabling -Wimplicit-fallthrough, mark switch cases where we are expecting to fall through. Notice that in some cases I replaced "fall through on else" and "otherwise fall through" comments with just a "fall through" comment, which is what GCC is expecting to find. Signed-off-by: Gustavo A. 2017-12-11mac80211: fix locking in ieee80211_sta_tear_down_BA_sessionsJohannes Berg1-3/+2
Due to overlap between commit 1281103770e9 ("mac80211: Simplify locking in ieee80211_sta_tear_down_BA_sessions()") and the way that Luca modified commit 72e2c3438ba3 ("mac80211: tear down RX aggregations first") when sending it upstream from Intel's internal tree, we get the following warning: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 5472 at net/mac80211/agg-tx.c:315 ___ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session+0x158/0x1f0 since there's no appropriate locking around the call to ___ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session; Sara's original just had a call to the locked __ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session (one less underscore) but it looks like Luca modified both of the calls when fixing it up for upstream, leading to the problem at hand. Move the locking appropriately to fix this problem. 2017-11-27mac80211: tear down RX aggregations firstSara Sharon1-1/+3
When doing HW restart we tear down aggregations. Since at this point we are not TX'ing any aggregation, while the peer is still sending RX aggregation over the air, it will make sense to tear down the RX aggregations first.
