While testing the blamed commit below, I was able to miss (!)
packetdrill failures in the fastopen test-cases.
On passive fastopen the child socket is created by incoming TCP MPC syn,

OPTIONS_MPTCP_MPC is a combination of three flags.
It would be better to be strict about testing what
flag is expected, at least for code readability.
mptcp_parse_option() already makes the distinction.
- subflow_check_req() should use OPTION_MPTCP_MPC_SYN.
- mptcp_subflow_init_cookie_req() should use OPTION_MPTCP_MPC_ACK.
- subflow_finish_connect() should use OPTION_MPTCP_MPC_SYNACK
- subflow_syn_recv_sock should use OPTION_MPTCP_MPC_ACK

syzbot reported that subflow_check_req() was using uninitialized data in
subflow_check_req() [1]
This is because mp_opt.token is only set when OPTION_MPTCP_MPJ_SYN is also set.
While we are are it, fix mptcp_subflow_init_cookie_req()
to test for OPTION_MPTCP_MPJ_ACK.

The MPTCP protocol does not expect that any other entity could change
the first subflow status when such socket is listening.
Unfortunately the TCP diag interface allows aborting any TCP socket,
including MPTCP listeners subflows. As reported by syzbot, that trigger
a WARN() and could lead to later bigger trouble.
The MPTCP protocol needs to do some MPTCP-level cleanup actions to
properly shutdown the listener. To keep the fix simple, prevent
entirely the diag interface from stopping such listeners.
We could refine the diag callback in a later, larger patch targeting
net-next.

The netlink PM can race with fastopen self-connect attempts, shutting
down the first subflow via:
MPTCP_PM_CMD_DEL_ADDR -> mptcp_nl_remove_id_zero_address ->
mptcp_pm_nl_rm_subflow_received -> mptcp_close_ssk
and transitioning such subflow to FIN_WAIT1 status before the syn-ack
packet is processed. The MPTCP code does not react to such state change,
leaving the connection in not-fallback status and the subflow handshake
uncompleted, triggering the following splat:

To address the issue, catch the racing subflow state change and
use it to cause the MPTCP fallback. Such fallback is also used to
cause the first subflow state propagation to the msk socket via
mptcp_set_connected(). After this change, the first subflow can
additionally propagate the TCP_FIN_WAIT1 state, so rename the
helper accordingly.
Finally, if the state propagation is delayed to the msk release
callback, the first subflow can change to a different state in between.
Cache the relevant target state in a new msk-level field and use
such value to update the msk state at release time.

RTAX_FEATURE_ALLFRAG was added before the first git commit:
https://www.mail-archive.com/bk-commits-head@vger.kernel.org/msg03399.html
The feature would send packets to the fragmentation path if a box
receives a PMTU value with less than 1280 byte. However, since commit
9d289715eb5c ("ipv6: stop sending PTB packets for MTU < 1280"), such
message would be simply discarded. The feature flag is neither supported
in iproute2 utility. In theory one can still manipulate it with direct
netlink message, but it is not ideal because it was based on obsoleted
guidance of RFC-2460 (replaced by RFC-8200).
The feature would always test false at the moment, so remove related
code or mark them as unused.

The MPTCP protocol account for the data enqueued on all the subflows
to the main socket send buffer, while the send buffer auto-tuning
algorithm set the main socket send buffer size as the max size among
the subflows.
That causes bad performances when at least one subflow is sndbuf
limited, e.g. due to very high latency, as the MPTCP scheduler can't
even fill such buffer.
Change the send-buffer auto-tuning algorithm to compute the main socket
send buffer size as the sum of all the subflows buffer size.

The MPTCP protocol allow setting sk_rcvlowat, but the value there
is currently ignored.
Additionally, the default subflows sk_rcvlowat basically disables per
subflow delayed ack: the MPTCP protocol move the incoming data from the
subflows into the msk socket as soon as the TCP stacks invokes the subflow
data_ready callback. Later, when __tcp_ack_snd_check() takes action,
the subflow-level copied_seq matches rcv_nxt, and that mandate for an
immediate ack.
Let the mptcp receive path be aware of such threshold, explicitly tracking
the amount of data available to be ready and checking vs sk_rcvlowat in
mptcp_poll() and before waking-up readers.
Additionally implement the set_rcvlowat() callback, to properly handle
the rcvbuf auto-tuning on sk_rcvlowat changes.
Finally to properly handle delayed ack, force the subflow level threshold
to 0 and instead explicitly ask for an immediate ack when the msk level th
is not reached.

The delegated action infrastructure is prone to the following
race: different CPUs can try to schedule different delegated
actions on the same subflow at the same time.
Each of them will check different bits via mptcp_subflow_delegate(),
and will try to schedule the action on the related per-cpu napi
instance.
Depending on the timing, both can observe an empty delegated list
node, causing the same entry to be added simultaneously on two different
lists.
The root cause is that the delegated actions infra does not provide
a single synchronization point. Address the issue reserving an additional
bit to mark the subflow as scheduled for delegation. Acquiring such bit
guarantee the caller to own the delegated list node, and being able to
safely schedule the subflow.
Clear such bit only when the subflow scheduling is completed, ensuring
proper barrier in place.
Additionally swap the meaning of the delegated_action bitmask, to allow
the usage of the existing helper to set multiple bit at once.

According to RFC 8684 section 3.3:
A connection is not closed unless [...] or an implementation-specific
connection-level send timeout.
Currently the MPTCP protocol does not implement such timeout, and
connection timing-out at the TCP-level never move to close state.
Introduces a catch-up condition at subflow close time to move the
MPTCP socket to close, too.
That additionally allows removing similar existing inside the worker.
Finally, allow some additional timeout for plain ESTABLISHED mptcp
sockets, as the protocol allows creating new subflows even at that
point and making the connection functional again.
This issue is actually present since the beginning, but it is basically
impossible to solve without a long chain of functional pre-requisites
topped by commit bbd49d114d57 ("mptcp: consolidate transition to
TCP_CLOSE in mptcp_do_fastclose()"). When backporting this current

The msk socket uses to different timeout to track close related

Despite commit 0ad529d9fd2b ("mptcp: fix possible divide by zero in
recvmsg()"), the mptcp protocol is still prone to a race between
disconnect() (or shutdown) and accept.
The root cause is that the mentioned commit checks the msk-level
flag, but mptcp_stream_accept() does acquire the msk-level lock,
as it can rely directly on the first subflow lock.
As reported by Christoph than can lead to a race where an msk
socket is accepted after that mptcp_subflow_queue_clean() releases
the listener socket lock and just before it takes destructive
actions leading to the following splat:

The MPTCP code uses the assumption that the tcp_win_from_space() helper
does not use any TCP-specific field, and thus works correctly operating
on an MPTCP socket.
The commit dfa2f0483360 ("tcp: get rid of sysctl_tcp_adv_win_scale")
broke such assumption, and as a consequence most MPTCP connections stall
on zero-window event due to auto-tuning changing the rcv buffer size
quite randomly.
Address the issue syncing again the MPTCP auto-tuning code with the TCP
one. To achieve that, factor out the windows size logic in socket
independent helpers, and reuse them in mptcp_rcv_space_adjust(). The
MPTCP level scaling_ratio is selected as the minimum one from the all
the subflows, as a worst-case estimate.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next
Pull networking changes from Jakub Kicinski:
"WiFi 7 and sendpage changes are the biggest pieces of work for this
release. The latter will definitely require fixes but I think that we
got it to a reasonable point.
Core:
- Rework the sendpage & splice implementations
Instead of feeding data into sockets page by page extend sendmsg
handlers to support taking a reference on the data, controlled by a
new flag called MSG_SPLICE_PAGES
Rework the handling of unexpected-end-of-file to invoke an
additional callback instead of trying to predict what the right
combination of MORE/NOTLAST flags is
Remove the MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST flag completely
- Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogous to
SCM_CREDENTIALS, but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid
- Enable socket busy polling with CONFIG_RT
- Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting for ref_tracker
- Auto-generate a user space C library for various Netlink families
Protocols:
- Allow TCP to shrink the advertised window when necessary, prevent
sk_rcvbuf auto-tuning from growing the window all the way up to
tcp_rmem[2]
- Use per-VMA locking for "page-flipping" TCP receive zerocopy
- Prepare TCP for device-to-device data transfers, by making sure
that payloads are always attached to skbs as page frags
- Make the backoff time for the first N TCP SYN retransmissions
linear. Exponential backoff is unnecessarily conservative
- Create a new MPTCP getsockopt to retrieve all info
(MPTCP_FULL_INFO)
- Avoid waking up applications using TLS sockets until we have a full
record
- Allow using kernel memory for protocol ioctl callbacks, paving the
way to issuing ioctls over io_uring
- Add nolocalbypass option to VxLAN, forcing packets to be fully
encapsulated even if they are destined for a local IP address
- Make TCPv4 use consistent hash in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECV. Ensure
in-kernel ECMP implementation (e.g. Open vSwitch) select the same
link for all packets. Support L4 symmetric hashing in Open vSwitch
- PPPoE: make number of hash bits configurable
- Allow DNS to be overwritten by DHCPACK in the in-kernel DHCP client
(ipconfig)
- Add layer 2 miss indication and filtering, allowing higher layers
(e.g. ACL filters) to make forwarding decisions based on whether
packet matched forwarding state in lower devices (bridge)
- Support matching on Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) packets
- Hide the "link becomes ready" IPv6 messages by demoting their
printk level to debug
- HSR: don't enable promiscuous mode if device offloads the proto
- Support active scanning in IEEE 802.15.4
- Continue work on Multi-Link Operation for WiFi 7
BPF:
- Add precision propagation for subprogs and callbacks. This allows
maintaining verification efficiency when subprograms are used, or
in fact passing the verifier at all for complex programs,
especially those using open-coded iterators
- Improve BPF's {g,s}setsockopt() length handling. Previously BPF
assumed the length is always equal to the amount of written data.
But some protos allow passing a NULL buffer to discover what the
output buffer *should* be, without writing anything
- Accept dynptr memory as memory arguments passed to helpers
- Add routing table ID to bpf_fib_lookup BPF helper
- Support O_PATH FDs in BPF_OBJ_PIN and BPF_OBJ_GET commands
- Drop bpf_capable() check in BPF_MAP_FREEZE command (used to mark
maps as read-only)
- Show target_{obj,btf}_id in tracing link fdinfo
- Addition of several new kfuncs (most of the names are
self-explanatory):
- Add a set of new dynptr kfuncs: bpf_dynptr_adjust(),
bpf_dynptr_is_null(), bpf_dynptr_is_rdonly(), bpf_dynptr_size()
and bpf_dynptr_clone().
- bpf_task_under_cgroup()
- bpf_sock_destroy() - force closing sockets
- bpf_cpumask_first_and(), rework bpf_cpumask_any*() kfuncs
Netfilter:
- Relax set/map validation checks in nf_tables. Allow checking
presence of an entry in a map without using the value
- Increase ip_vs_conn_tab_bits range for 64BIT builds
- Allow updating size of a set
- Improve NAT tuple selection when connection is closing
Driver API:
- Integrate netdev with LED subsystem, to allow configuring HW
"offloaded" blinking of LEDs based on link state and activity
(i.e. packets coming in and out)
- Support configuring rate selection pins of SFP modules
- Factor Clause 73 auto-negotiation code out of the drivers, provide
common helper routines
- Add more fool-proof helpers for managing lifetime of MDIO devices
associated with the PCS layer
- Allow drivers to report advanced statistics related to Time Aware
scheduler offload (taprio)
- Allow opting out of VF statistics in link dump, to allow more VFs
to fit into the message
- Split devlink instance and devlink port operations

- Thanks to help from the MPTCP folks, it looks like we have finally
sorted out a proper solution to the MPTCP socket labeling issue, see
the new security_mptcp_add_subflow() LSM hook.
- Fix the labeled NFS handling such that a labeled NFS share mounted
prior to the initial SELinux policy load is properly labeled once a
policy is loaded; more information in the commit description.
- Two patches to security/selinux/Makefile, the first took the cleanups
in v6.4 a bit further and the second removed the grouped targets
support as that functionality doesn't appear to be properly supported
prior to make v4.3.
- Deprecate the "fs" object context type in SELinux policies. The fs
object context type was an old vestige that was introduced back in
v2.6.12-rc2 but never really used.
- A number of small changes that remove dead code, clean up some
awkward bits, and generally improve the quality of the code. See the
individual commit descriptions for more information.

The user-space need to properly account the data received/sent by
individual subflows. When additional subflows are created and/or
closed during the MPTCP socket lifetime, the information currently
exposed via MPTCP_TCPINFO are not enough: subflows are identified only
by the sequential position inside the info dumps, and that will change
with the above mentioned events.
To solve the above problem, this patch introduces a new subflow
identifier that is unique inside the given MPTCP socket scope.
The initial subflow get the id 1 and the other subflows get incremental
values at join time.

An orphaned msk releases the used resources via the worker,
when the latter first see the msk in CLOSED status.
If the msk status transitions to TCP_CLOSE in the release callback
invoked by the worker's final release_sock(), such instance of the
workqueue will not take any action.
Additionally the MPTCP code prevents scheduling the worker once the
socket reaches the CLOSE status: such msk resources will be leaked.
The only code path that can trigger the above scenario is the
__mptcp_check_send_data_fin() in fallback mode.
Address the issue removing the special handling of fallback socket
in __mptcp_check_send_data_fin(), consolidating the state machine
for fallback and non fallback socket.
Since non-fallback sockets do not send and do not receive data_fin,
the mptcp code can update the msk internal status to match the next
step in the SM every time data fin (ack) should be generated or
received.
As a consequence we can remove a bunch of checks for fallback from
the fastpath.

When the msk socket is cloned at MPC handshake time, a few
fields are initialized in a racy way outside mptcp_sk_clone()
and the msk socket lock.
The above is due historical reasons: before commit a88d0092b24b
("mptcp: simplify subflow_syn_recv_sock()") as the first subflow socket
carrying all the needed date was not available yet at msk creation
time
We can now refactor the code moving the missing initialization bit
under the socket lock, removing the init race and avoiding some
code duplication.
This will also simplify the next patch, as all msk->first write
access are now under the msk socket lock.

MPTCP can create subflows in kernel context, and later indirectly
expose them to user-space, via the owning MPTCP socket.
As discussed in the reported link, the above causes unexpected failures
for server, MPTCP-enabled applications.
Let's introduce a new LSM hook to allow the security module to relabel
the subflow according to the owning user-space process, via the MPTCP
socket owning the subflow.
Note that the new hook requires both the MPTCP socket and the new
subflow. This could allow future extensions, e.g. explicitly validating
the MPTCP <-> subflow linkage.

The root cause is that the worker can force fallback to TCP the first
mptcp subflow, actually deleting the unaccepted msk socket.
We can explicitly prevent the race delaying the unaccepted msk deletion
at listener shutdown time. In case the closed subflow is later accepted,
just drop the mptcp context and let the user-space deal with the
paired mptcp socket.

This is a partial revert of the blamed commit, with a relevant
change: mptcp_subflow_queue_clean() now just change the msk
socket status and stop the worker, so that the UaF issue addressed
by the blamed commit is not re-introduced.
The above prevents the mptcp worker from running concurrently with
inet_csk_listen_stop(), as such race would trigger a warning, as
reported by Christoph:

We need to properly clean-up all the paired MPTCP-level
resources and be sure to release the msk last, even when
the unaccepted subflow is destroyed by the TCP internals
via inet_child_forget().
We can re-use the existing MPTCP_WORK_CLOSE_SUBFLOW infra,
explicitly checking that for the critical scenario: the
closed subflow is the MPC one, the msk is not accepted and
eventually going through full cleanup.
With such change, __mptcp_destroy_sock() is always called
on msk sockets, even on accepted ones. We don't need anymore
to transiently drop one sk reference at msk clone time.

After commit 30e51b923e43 ("mptcp: fix unreleased socket in accept queue")
unaccepted msk sockets go throu complete shutdown, we don't need anymore
to delay inserting the first subflow into the subflow lists.
The reference counting deserve some extra care, as __mptcp_close() is
unaware of the request socket linkage to the first subflow.
Please note that this is more a refactoring than a fix but because this
modification is needed to include other corrections, see the following
commits. Then a Fixes tag has been added here to help the stable team.

Christoph reported a possible deadlock while the TCP stack
destroys an unaccepted subflow due to an incoming reset: the
MPTCP socket error path tries to acquire the msk-level socket
lock while TCP still owns the listener socket accept queue
spinlock, and the reverse dependency already exists in the
TCP stack.
Note that the above is actually a lockdep false positive, as
the chain involves two separate sockets. A different per-socket
lockdep key will address the issue, but such a change will be
quite invasive.
Instead, we can simply stop earlier the socket error handling
for orphaned or unaccepted subflows, breaking the critical
lockdep chain. Error handling in such a scenario is a no-op.

Currently the subflow error report callback unconditionally
propagates the fallback subflow status to the owning msk.
If the msk is already orphaned, the above prevents the code
from correctly tracking the msk moving to the TCP_CLOSE state
and doing the appropriate cleanup.
All the above causes increasing memory usage over time and
sporadic self-tests failures.
There is a great deal of infrastructure trying to propagate
correctly the fallback subflow status to the owning mptcp socket,
e.g. via mptcp_subflow_eof() and subflow_sched_work_if_closed():
in the error propagation path we need only to cope with unorphaned
sockets.

For consistency, in mptcp_pm_nl_create_listen_socket(), we need to
call the __mptcp_nmpc_socket() under the msk socket lock.
Note that as a side effect, mptcp_subflow_create_socket() needs a
'nested' lockdep annotation, as it will acquire the subflow (kernel)
socket lock under the in-kernel listener msk socket lock.
The current lack of locking is almost harmless, because the relevant
socket is not exposed to the user space, but in future we will add
more complexity to the mentioned helper, let's play safe.
