2024-09-10selftests: mptcp: reset the last TS before the first testMatthieu Baerts (NGI0)1-0/+1
Just to slightly improve the precision of the duration of the first test. In mptcp_join.sh, the last append_prev_results is now done as soon as the last test is over: this will add the last result in the list, and get a more precise time for this last test. 2024-04-08selftests: mptcp: use pm_nl endpoint opsGeliang Tang1-6/+6
Use those newly added pm_nl endpoint ops helpers to replace all 'pm_nl_ctl' commands with 'limits', 'add', 'del', 'flush', 'show' and 'set' arguments in scripts mptcp_sockopt.sh and simult_flows.sh. In pm_netlink.sh, add wrappers of there helpers to make the function names shorter. Then use the wrappers to replace all 'pm_nl_ctl' commands. 2024-03-12selftests: mptcp: print test results with colorsGeliang Tang1-14/+14
To unify the output formats of all test scripts, this patch adds four more helpers: mptcp_lib_pr_ok() mptcp_lib_pr_skip() mptcp_lib_pr_fail() mptcp_lib_pr_info() to print out [ OK ], [SKIP], [FAIL] and 'INFO: ' with colors. Use them in all scripts to print the "ok/skip/fail/info' using the same 'format'. Having colors helps to quickly identify issues when looking at a long list of output logs and results. Note that now all print the same keywords, which was not the case before, but it is good to uniform that. 2024-03-08selftests: mptcp: sockopt: fix shellcheck warningsMatthieu Baerts (NGI0)1-4/+10
shellcheck recently helped to prevent issues. It is then good to fix the other harmless issues in order to spot "real" ones later. Here, two categories of warnings are now ignored: - SC2317: Command appears to be unreachable. The cleanup() function is invoked indirectly via the EXIT trap. - SC2086: Double quote to prevent globbing and word splitting. This is recommended, but the current usage is correct and there is no need to do all these modifications to be compliant with this rule. For the modifications: - SC2034: ksft_skip appears unused. - SC2006: Use $(...) notation instead of legacy backticks `...`. - SC2145: Argument mixes string and array. Use * or separate argument. Now this script is shellcheck (0.9.0) compliant. We can easily spot new issues. 2024-03-08selftests: mptcp: more operations in ns_init/exitGeliang Tang1-7/+0
Set more the default sysctl values in mptcp_lib_ns_init(). It is fine to do that everywhere, because they could be overridden latter if needed. mptcp_lib_ns_exit() now also try to remove temp netns files used for the stats even for selftests not using them. That's fine to do that because these files have a unique name. 2024-03-08selftests: mptcp: add mptcp_lib_check_tools helperGeliang Tang1-14/+1
This patch exports check_tools() helper from mptcp_join.sh into mptcp_lib.sh as a public one mptcp_lib_check_tools(). The arguments "ip", "ss", "iptables" and "ip6tables" are passed into this helper to indicate whether to check ip tool, ss tool, iptables and ip6tables tools. This helper can be used in every scripts. 2024-03-08selftests: mptcp: stop forcing iptables-legacyMatthieu Baerts (NGI0)1-8/+4
Commit 0c4cd3f86a40 ("selftests: mptcp: join: use 'iptables-legacy' if available") and commit a5a5990c099d ("selftests: mptcp: sockopt: use 'iptables-legacy' if available") forced using iptables-legacy if available. This was needed because of some issues that were visible when testing the kselftests on a v5.15.x with iptables-nft as default backend. It looks like these errors are no longer present. As mentioned by Pablo [1], the errors were maybe due to missing kernel config. We can then use iptables-nft if it is the default one, instead of using a legacy tool. We can then check the variables iptables and ip6tables are valid. We can keep the variables to easily change it later or add options. To avoid duplicated code in different MPTCP selftests, we can add and use helpers defined in mptcp_lib.sh. check_transfer() and print_file_err() helpers are defined both in mptcp_connect.sh and mptcp_sockopt.sh, export them into mptcp_lib.sh and rename them with mptcp_lib_ prefix. And use them in all scripts. Note: In mptcp_sockopt.sh it is OK to drop 'ret=1' in check_transfer() because it will be set in run_tests() anyway. 2023-07-19selftests: mptcp: sockopt: format subtests results in TAPMatthieu Baerts1-2/+18
The current selftests infrastructure formats the results in TAP 13. This version doesn't support subtests and only the end result of each selftest is taken into account. It means that a single issue in a subtest of a selftest containing multiple subtests forces the whole selftest to be marked as failed. It also means that subtests results are not tracked by CIs executing selftests. MPTCP selftests run hundreds of various subtests. It is then important to track each of them and not one result per selftest. It is particularly interesting to do that when validating stable kernels with the last version of the test suite: tests might fail because a feature is not supported but the test didn't skip that part. In this case, if subtests are not tracked, the whole selftest will be marked as failed making the other subtests useless because their results are ignored. This patch formats subtests results in TAP in mptcp_sockopt.sh selftest. 2023-07-05selftests: mptcp: sockopt: return error if wrong markMatthieu Baerts1-4/+5
When an error was detected when checking the marks, a message was correctly printed mentioning the error but followed by another one saying everything was OK and the selftest was not marked as failed as expected. Now the 'ret' variable is directly set to 1 in order to make sure the exit is done with an error, similar to what is done in other functions. While at it, the error is correctly propagated to the caller. Selftests are supposed to run on any kernels, including the old ones not supporting all MPTCP features. One of them is TCP_INQ cmsg support introduced in commit 2c9e77659a0c ("mptcp: add TCP_INQ cmsg support"). It is possible to look for "mptcp_ioctl" in kallsyms because it was needed to introduce the mentioned feature. We can skip these tests and not set TCPINQ option if the feature is not supported. One of them is the getsockopt(SOL_MPTCP) to get info about the MPTCP connections introduced by commit 55c42fa7fa33 ("mptcp: add MPTCP_INFO getsockopt") and the following ones. It is possible to look for "mptcp_diag_fill_info" in kallsyms because it is introduced by the mentioned feature. So we can know in advance if the feature is supported and skip the sub-test if not. 2022-11-18selftests: mptcp: run mptcp_sockopt from a new netnsMatthieu Baerts1-4/+5
Not running it from a new netns causes issues if some MPTCP settings are modified, e.g. if MPTCP is disabled from the sysctl knob, if multiple addresses are available and added to the MPTCP path-manager, etc. In these cases, the created connection will not behave as expected, e.g. unable to create an MPTCP socket, more than one subflow is seen, etc. A new "sandbox" net namespace is now created and used to run mptcp_sockopt from this controlled environment. 2021-09-18selftests: mptcp: add mptcp getsockopt test casesFlorian Westphal1-2/+29
Add a test program that retrieves the three info types: 1. mptcp meta information 2. tcp info for subflow 3. subflow endpoint addresses For all three rudimentary checks are added. 1. Meta information checks that the logical mptcp sequence numbers advance as expected, based on the bytes read (init seq + bytes_received/sent) and the connection state (after close, we should exect 1 extra byte due to FIN). 2. TCP info checks the number of bytes sent/received vs. sums of read/write syscall return values. 3. Subflow endpoint addresses are checked vs. getsockname/getpeername result. Tests for forward compatibility (0-initialisation of output-only fields in mptcp_subflow_data structure) are added as well. Extend mptcp_connect tool with SO_MARK support (-M <value>) and add a test case that checks that the packet mark gets copied to all subflows. This is done by only allowing packets with either skb->mark 1 or 2 via iptables. DROP rule packet counter is checked; if its not zero, print an error message and fail the test case.
