From 4f5bcf19bd2ab8ac4c94bb39951f43e0c5ecd2b0 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Uwe Kleine-König Date: Thu, 18 May 2023 01:01:12 +0200 Subject: usb: common: usb-conn-gpio: Convert to platform remove callback returning void MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. This happens because during probe last_role gets initialised to zero. To avoid this, added a new constant in enum usb_role, last_role is set to USB_ROLE_UNKNOWN before performing initial detection. While at it, also handle default case for the usb_role switch in cdns3, intel-xhci-usb-role-switch & musb/jz4740 to avoid build warnings.
