2023-11-30dt-bindings: marvell: Add Marvell MV88E6060 DSA schemaLinus Walleij1-0/+88
The Marvell MV88E6060 is one of the oldest DSA switches from Marvell, and it has DT bindings used in the wild. Let's define them properly. It is different enough from the rest of the MV88E6xxx switches that it deserves its own binding. This is an attempt to rewrite the Marvell MV88E6xxx switch bindings in YAML schema. The current text binding says: WARNING: This binding is currently unstable. Do not program it into a FLASH never to be changed again. Once this binding is stable, this warning will be removed. Well that never happened before we switched to YAML markup, we can't have it like this, what about fixing the mess? This is maybe not the prettiest but it avoids special-casing the Marvell MV88E6xxx bindings by copying a lot of generic binding code down into that one binding just to special-case these unfixable nodes. 2023-11-30xsk: Add TX timestamp and TX checksum offload supportStanislav Fomichev1-1/+18
This change actually defines the (initial) metadata layout that should be used by AF_XDP userspace (xsk_tx_metadata). The first field is flags which requests appropriate offloads, followed by the offload-specific fields. The supported per-device offloads are exported via netlink (new xsk-flags). The offloads themselves are still implemented in a bit of a framework-y fashion that's left from my initial kfunc attempt. I'm introducing new xsk_tx_metadata_ops which drivers are supposed to implement. The drivers are also supposed to call xsk_tx_metadata_request/xsk_tx_metadata_complete in the right places. Since xsk_tx_metadata_{request,_complete} are static inline, we don't incur any extra overhead doing indirect calls. The benefit of this scheme is as follows: - keeps all metadata layout parsing away from driver code - makes it easy to grep and see which drivers implement what - don't need any extra flags to maintain to keep track of what offloads are implemented; if the callback is implemented - the offload is supported (used by netlink reporting code) Two offloads are defined right now: 1. XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_CHECKSUM: skb-style csum_start+csum_offset 2. XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP: writes TX timestamp back into metadata area upon completion (tx_timestamp field) XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP is also implemented for XDP_COPY mode: it writes SW timestamp from the skb destructor (note I'm reusing hwtstamps to pass metadata pointer). The struct is forward-compatible and can be extended in the future by appending more fields. This is a simple script that parses the Netlink YAML spec files (Documentation/netlink/specs/), and generates RST files to be rendered in the Network -> Netlink Specification documentation page. Create a python script that is invoked during 'make htmldocs', reads the YAML specs input file and generate the correspondent RST file. Create a new Documentation/networking/netlink_spec index page, and reference each Netlink RST file that was processed above in this main index.rst file. In case of any exception during the parsing, dump the error and skip the file. Do not regenerate the RST files if the input files (YAML) were not changed in-between invocations. 2023-11-22leds: class: Don't expose color sysfs entryTakashi Iwai1-9/+0
The commit c7d80059b086 ("leds: class: Store the color index in struct led_classdev") introduced a new sysfs entry "color" that is commonly created for the led classdev. Unfortunately, this conflicts with the "color" sysfs entry of already existing drivers such as Logitech HID or System76 ACPI drivers. The driver probe fails due to the conflict, hence it leads to a severe regression with the missing keyboard, for example. This patch reverts partially the change in the commit above for removing the led class color sysfs entries again for addressing the regressions. The newly introduced led_classdev.color field is kept as it's already used by other driver. We currently tell people to be patient and not to repost too often. Our "not too often", however, is still a few orders of magnitude faster than other subsystems. Or so I feel after hearing people talk about review rates at LPC. Clarify in the doc that if the discussion went idle for a week on netdev, 95% of the time there's no point waiting longer. Xilinx 1G/2.5G Ethernet Subsystem provides 32-bit AXI4-Stream buses to move transmit and receive Ethernet data to and from the subsystem. These buses are designed to be used with an AXI Direct Memory Access(DMA) IP or AXI Multichannel Direct Memory Access (MCDMA) IP core, AXI4-Stream Data FIFO, or any other custom logic in any supported device. Primary high-speed DMA data movement between system memory and stream target is through the AXI4 Read Master to AXI4 memory-mapped to stream (MM2S) Master, and AXI stream to memory-mapped (S2MM) Slave to AXI4 Write Master. AXI DMA/MCDMA enables channel of data movement on both MM2S and S2MM paths in scatter/gather mode. AXI DMA has two channels where as MCDMA has 16 Tx and 16 Rx channels. To uniquely identify each channel use 'chan' suffix. Depending on the usecase AXI ethernet driver can request any combination of multichannel DMA channels using generic dmas, dma-names properties. 2023-11-18devlink: Acquire device lock during reload commandIdo Schimmel1-2/+2
Device drivers register with devlink from their probe routines (under the device lock) by acquiring the devlink instance lock and calling devl_register(). Drivers that support a devlink reload usually implement the reload_{down, up}() operations in a similar fashion to their remove and probe routines, respectively. However, while the remove and probe routines are invoked with the device lock held, the reload operations are only invoked with the devlink instance lock held. It is therefore impossible for drivers to acquire the device lock from their reload operations, as this would result in lock inversion. The motivating use case for invoking the reload operations with the device lock held is in mlxsw which needs to trigger a PCI reset as part of the reload. The driver cannot call pci_reset_function() as this function acquires the device lock. Instead, it needs to call __pci_reset_function_locked which expects the device lock to be held. To that end, adjust devlink to always acquire the device lock before the devlink instance lock when performing a reload. Do that when reload is explicitly triggered by user space by specifying the 'DEVLINK_NL_FLAG_NEED_DEV_LOCK' flag in the pre_doit and post_doit operations of the reload command. A previous patch already handled the case where reload is invoked as part of netns dismantle. Time stamping on network packets may happen either in the MAC or in the PHY, but not both. In preparation for making the choice selectable, expose both the current layers via ethtool. In accordance with the kernel implementation as it stands, the current layer will always read as "phy" when a PHY time stamping device is present.
