git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/soc/soc Pull ARMv4T/v5 multiplatform support from Arnd Bergmann: "This series has been 12 years in the making, it mostly finishes the work that was started with the founding of Linaro to clean up platform support in the kernel. The largest change here is a cleanup of the omap1 platform, which is the final ARM machine type to get converted to the common-clk subsystem. All the omap1 specific drivers are now made independent of the mach/*.h headers to allow the platform to be part of a generic ARMv4/v5 multiplatform kernel. The last bit that enables this support is still missing here while we wait for some last dependencies to make it into the mainline kernel through other subsystems. The s3c24xx, ixp4xx, iop32x, ep93xx and dove platforms were all almost at the point of allowing multiplatform kernels, this work gets completed here along with a few additional cleanup. At the same time, the s3c24xx and s3c64xx are now deprecated and expected to get removed in the future. The PXA and OMAP1 bits are in a separate branch because of dependencies. Once both branches are merged, only the three Intel StrongARM platforms (RiscPC, Footbridge/NetWinder and StrongARM1100) need separate kernels, and there are no plans to include these" * tag 'arm-multiplatform-5.19-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/soc/soc: (61 commits) ARM: ixp4xx: Consolidate Kconfig fixing issue ARM: versatile: Add missing of_node_put in dcscb_init ARM: config: Refresh IXP4xx config after multiplatform ARM: omap1: add back omap_set_dma_priority() stub ARM: omap: fix missing declaration warnings ARM: omap: fix address space warnings from sparse ARM: spear: remove include/mach/ subdirectory ARM: davinci: remove include/mach/ subdirectory ARM: omap2: remove include/mach/ subdirectory integrator: remove empty ap_init_early() ARM: s3c: fix include path MAINTAINERS: omap1: Add Janusz as an additional maintainer ARM: omap1: htc_herald: fix typos in comments ARM: OMAP1: fix typos in comments ARM: OMAP1: clock: Remove noop code ARM: OMAP1: clock: Remove unused code ARM: OMAP1: clock: Fix UART rate reporting algorithm ARM: OMAP1: clock: Fix early UART rate issues ARM: OMAP1: Prepare for conversion of OMAP1 clocks to CCF ARM: omap1: fix build with no SoC selected ...

2022-04-08ARM: rework endianess selectionArnd Bergmann1-1/+0
Choosing big-endian vs little-endian kernels in Kconfig has not worked correctly since the introduction of CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM a long time ago. The problems is that CONFIG_BIG_ENDIAN depends on ARCH_SUPPORTS_BIG_ENDIAN, which can set by any one platform in the config, but would actually have to be supported by all of them. This was mostly ok for ARMv6/ARMv7 builds, since these are BE8 and tend to just work aside from problems in nonportable device drivers. For ARMv4/v5 machines, CONFIG_BIG_ENDIAN and CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM were never set together, so this was disabled on all those machines except for IXP4xx. As IXP4xx can now become part of ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, it seems better to formalize this logic: all ARMv4/v5 platforms get an explicit dependency on being either big-endian (ixp4xx) or little-endian (the rest). We may want to fix ixp4xx in the future to support both, but it does not work in LE mode at the moment. For the ARMv6/v7 platforms, there are two ways this could be handled a) allow both modes only for platforms selecting 'ARCH_SUPPORTS_BIG_ENDIAN' today, but only LE mode for the others, given that these were added intentionally at some point. b) allow both modes everwhere, given that it was already possible to build that way by e.g. selecting ARCH_VIRT, and that the list is not an accurate reflection of which platforms may or may not work. Out of these, I picked b) because it seemed slighly more logical to me. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

2022-02-09ARM: cacheflush: avoid clobbering the frame pointerArd Biesheuvel1-4/+2
Thumb2 uses R7 rather than R11 as the frame pointer, and even if we rarely use a frame pointer to begin with when building in Thumb2 mode, there are cases where it is required by the compiler (Clang when inserting profiling hooks via -pg) However, preserving and restoring the frame pointer is risky, as any unhandled exceptions raised in the mean time will produce a bogus backtrace, and it would be better not to touch the frame pointer at all. This is the case even when CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER is not set, as the unwind directive used by the unwinder may also use R7 or R11 as the unwind anchor, even if the frame pointer is not managed strictly according to the frame pointer ABI. So let's tweak the cacheflush asm code not to clobber R7 or R11 at all, so that we can drop R7 from the clobber lists of the inline asm blocks that call these routines, and remove the code that preserves/restores R11. 2022-01-23ARM: exynos: only do SMC_CMD_CPU1BOOT call on Exynos4Henrik Grimler1-1/+3
On Exynos5 the call is simply ignored by most variants of the trustzone firmware. However, on some devices it instead causes the device to hang, so let's avoid the call for the SoCs where it should not be needed. To see that the call is ignored, we can look into sboot/tzsw. On most of the Exynos{4,5} devices the part of sboot/tzsw that seem to handle the secure monitor calls is quite easy to recognise, the SMC number is compared to known ones, and if equal it branches to the relevant function. In assembly this looks something like: ;-- handle_smc: 0x00000514 650070e3 cmn r0, 0x65 0x00000518 0a00000a beq loc.smc_cmd_reg 0x0000051c 010070e3 cmn r0, 1 0x00000520 6c00000a beq loc.smc_cmd_init 0x00000524 020070e3 cmn r0, 2 0x00000528 6b00000a beq loc.smc_cmd_info 0x0000052c 030070e3 cmn r0, 3 0x00000530 6e00000a beq loc.smc_cmd_sleep 0x00000534 060070e3 cmn r0, 6 0x00000538 ae00000a beq loc.smc_cmd_save_state 0x0000053c 070070e3 cmn r0, 7 0x00000540 b400000a beq loc.smc_cmd_standby 0x00000544 2b01001a bne loc.smc_return_minus1 where above example is from exynos5420-arndale-octa. 2021-01-03soc: samsung: exynos-chipid: convert to driver and merge exynos-asvKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+0
The Exynos Chip ID driver on Exynos SoCs has so far only informational purpose - to expose the SoC device in sysfs. No other drivers depend on it so there is really no benefit of initializing it early. The code would be the most flexible if converted to a regular driver. However there is already another driver - Exynos ASV (Adaptive Supply Voltage) - which binds to the device node of Chip ID. The solution is to convert the Exynos Chip ID to a built in driver and merge the Exynos ASV into it. This has several benefits: 1. Although the Exynos ASV driver binds to a device node present in all Exynos DTS (generic compatible), it fails to probe except on the supported ones (only Exynos5422). This means that the regular boot process has a planned/normal device probe failure. Merging the ASV into Chip ID will remove this probe failure because the final driver will always bind, just with disabled ASV features. 2. Allows to use dev_info() as the SoC bus is present (since core_initcall). 3. Could speed things up because of execution of Chip ID code in a SMP environment (after bringing up secondary CPUs, unlike early_initcall), This reduces the amount of work to be done early, when the kernel has to bring up critical devices. 5. Makes the Chip ID code defer-probe friendly, Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzk@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20201207190517.262051-5-krzk@kernel.org Reviewed-by: Pankaj Dubey <pankaj.dubey@samsung.com>

2020-12-15arm: remove CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_HOLES_MEMORYMODELMike Rapoport1-1/+0
ARM is the only architecture that defines CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_HOLES_MEMORYMODEL which in turn enables memmap_valid_within() function that is intended to verify existence of struct page associated with a pfn when there are holes in the memory map. However, the ARCH_HAS_HOLES_MEMORYMODEL also enables HAVE_ARCH_PFN_VALID and arch-specific pfn_valid() implementation that also deals with the holes in the memory map. The only two users of memmap_valid_within() call this function after a call to pfn_valid() so the memmap_valid_within() check becomes redundant. Remove CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_HOLES_MEMORYMODEL and memmap_valid_within() and rely entirely on ARM's implementation of pfn_valid() that is now enabled unconditionally. 2020-07-22soc: samsung: exynos-regulator-coupler: Add simple voltage coupler for ↵Marek Szyprowski1-0/+1
Exynos5800 Add a simple custom voltage regulator coupler for Exynos5800 SoCs, which require coupling between "vdd_arm" and "vdd_int" regulators. This coupler ensures that the voltage values don't go below the bootloader-selected operation point during the boot process until the clients set their constraints. It is achieved by assuming minimal voltage value equal to the current value if no constraints are set. This also ensures proper voltage balancing if any of the client driver is missing. The balancing code comes from the regulator/core.c with the additional logic for handling regulators without client constraints applied added. Call exynos_cpu_power_up(cpunr) unconditionally. This is needed by the big.LITTLE cpuidle driver and has no side-effects on other code paths. The additional soft-reset call during little core power up has been added to properly boot all cores on the Exynos5422-based boards with secure firmware (like Odroid XU3/XU4 family). This however broke big.LITTLE CPUidle driver, which worked only on boards without secure firmware (like Peach-Pit/Pi Chromebooks). Followed by this plain error message: L2C-310: enabling full line of zeros but not enabled in Cortex-A9 To fix it, don't set the L310_AUX_CTRL_FULL_LINE_ZERO flag (bit 0) in the default value of l2c_aux_val. It may instead be enabled when applicable by the logic in l2c310_enable() if the attribute "arm,full-line-zero-disable" was set in the device tree. The initial commit that introduced this default value was in v2.6.38 commit 1cf0eb799759 ("ARM: S5PV310: Add L2 cache init function in cpu.c"). However, the code to set the L310_AUX_CTRL_FULL_LINE_ZERO flag and manage that feature was added much later and the default value was not updated then. So this seems to have been a subtle oversight especially since enabling it only in the cache and not in the A9 core doesn't actually prevent the platform from running. According to the TRM, the opposite would be a real issue, if the feature was enabled in the A9 core but not in the cache controller. The LLVM Target parser currently does not allow to specify the security extension as part of -march (see also LLVM Bug 40186 [0]). When trying to use Clang with LLVM's integrated assembler, this leads to build errors such as this: clang-8: error: the clang compiler does not support '-Wa,-march=armv7-a+sec' Use ".arch_extension sec" to enable the security extension in a more portable fasion. Also make sure to use ".arch armv7-a" in case a v6/v7 multi-platform kernel is being built. Note that this is technically not exactly the same as the old code checked for availabilty of the security extension by calling as-instr. However, there are already other sites which use ".arch_extension sec" unconditionally, hence de-facto we need an assembler capable of ".arch_extension sec" already today (arch/arm/mm/proc-v7.S). The arch extension "sec" is available since binutils 2.21 according to its documentation [1].
