2023-08-14drm/panel: simple: Fix AUO G121EAN01 panel timings according to the docsLuca Ceresoli1-12/+12
Commit 03e909acd95a ("drm/panel: simple: Add support for AUO G121EAN01.4 panel") added support for this panel model, but the timings it implements are very different from what the datasheet describes. I checked both the G121EAN01.0 datasheet from [0] and the G121EAN01.4 one from [1] and they all have the same timings: for example the LVDS clock typical value is 74.4 MHz, not 66.7 MHz as implemented. Replace the timings with the ones from the documentation. These timings have been tested and the clock frequencies verified with an oscilloscope to ensure they are correct. Also use struct display_timing instead of struct drm_display_mode in order to also specify the minimum and maximum values. 2023-05-31drm/panel-edp: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-6/+4
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. panel_edp_remove() always returned zero, so convert it to return void without any loss and then just drop the return from panel_edp_platform_remove(). 2023-04-17drm/panel: otm8009a: Set backlight parent to panel deviceJames Cowgill1-1/+1
This is the logical place to put the backlight device, and it also fixes a kernel crash if the MIPI host is removed. Previously the backlight device would be unregistered twice when this happened - once as a child of the MIPI host through `mipi_dsi_host_unregister`, and once when the panel device is destroyed. In a very peculiar case when probing and registering with the secondary DSI host succeeds, but the OF backlight or DSI attachment fails, the primary DSI device is automatically cleaned up, but the secondary one is not, leading to -EEXIST when the driver core tries to handle -EPROBE_DEFER. 2023-02-01drm/panel: boe-tv101wum-nl6: Ensure DSI writes succeed during disableStephen Boyd1-4/+12
The unprepare sequence has started to fail after moving to panel bridge code in the msm drm driver (commit 007ac0262b0d ("drm/msm/dsi: switch to DRM_PANEL_BRIDGE")). You'll see messages like this in the kernel logs: panel-boe-tv101wum-nl6 ae94000.dsi.0: failed to set panel off: -22 This is because boe_panel_enter_sleep_mode() needs an operating DSI link to set the panel into sleep mode. Performing those writes in the unprepare phase of bridge ops is too late, because the link has already been torn down by the DSI controller in post_disable, i.e. the PHY has been disabled, etc. See dsi_mgr_bridge_post_disable() for more details on the DSI . Split the unprepare function into a disable part and an unprepare part. For now, just the DSI writes to enter sleep mode are put in the disable function. This fixes the panel off routine and keeps the panel happy. My Wormdingler has an integrated touchscreen that stops responding to touch if the panel is only half disabled too. This patch fixes it. And finally, this saves power when the screen is off because without this fix the regulators for the panel are left enabled when nothing is being displayed on the screen.
