2023-04-06drm/tegra: Implement fbdev emulation as in-kernel clientThomas Zimmermann1-16/+2
Move code from ad-hoc fbdev callbacks into DRM client functions and remove the old callbacks. The functions instruct the client to poll for changed output or restore the display. The DRM core calls both, the old callbacks and the new client helpers, from the same places. The new functions perform the same operation as before, so there's no change in functionality. Replace all code that initializes or releases fbdev emulation throughout the driver. Instead initialize the fbdev client by a single call to tegra_fbdev_setup() after tegra has registered its DRM device. As in most drivers, tegra's fbdev emulation now acts like a regular DRM client. The fbdev client setup consists of the initial preparation and the hot-plugging of the display. The latter creates the fbdev device and sets up the fbdev framebuffer. The setup performs display hot-plugging once. If no display can be detected, DRM probe helpers re-run the detection on each hotplug event. A call to drm_dev_unregister() releases the client automatically. No further action is required within tegra. If the fbdev framebuffer has been fully set up, struct fb_ops.fb_destroy implements the release. For partially initialized emulation, the fbdev client reverts the initial setup. For engines that support context isolation, allocate a context when opening a channel, and set up stream ID offset and context fields when submitting a job. As of this commit, the stream ID offset and fallback stream ID are not used when context isolation is disabled. However, with upcoming patches that enable a full featured job opcode sequence, these will be necessary. To avoid code duplication, allocate the per-engine shared channel in the core code instead. This is the usual channel that all jobs are submitted to when MLOCKing is not in use. Once MLOCKs are implemented on Host1x side, we can also update this to avoid allocating a shared channel when MLOCKs are enabled. The format modifier is 64bit, while DRM_FORMAT_MOD_NVIDIA_SECTOR_LAYOUT uses BIT() macro that is 32bit on ARM32. The (modifier &= ~DRM_FORMAT_MOD_NVIDIA_SECTOR_LAYOUT) doesn't work as expected on ARM32 and tegra_fb_get_tiling() fails for the tiled formats on 32bit Tegra because modifier mask isn't applied properly. Use the BIT_ULL() macro to fix this trouble. 2020-01-10drm/tegra: Do not implement runtime PMThierry Reding1-0/+2
The Tegra DRM driver heavily relies on the implementations for runtime suspend/resume to be called at specific times. Unfortunately, there are some cases where that doesn't work. One example is if the user disables runtime PM for a given subdevice. Another example is that the PM core acquires a reference to runtime PM during system sleep, effectively preventing devices from going into low power modes. This is intentional to avoid nasty race conditions, but it also causes system sleep to not function properly on all Tegra systems. Fix this by not implementing runtime PM at all. Instead, a minimal, reference-counted suspend/resume infrastructure is added to the host1x bus. This has the benefit that it can be used regardless of the system power state (or any transitions we might be in), or whether or not the user allows runtime PM. Atomic modesetting guarantees that these functions will end up being called at the right point in time, so the pitfalls for the more generic runtime PM do not apply here. If a client is already attached to an IOMMU domain that is not the shared domain, don't try to attach it again. This allows using the IOMMU-backed DMA API. Since the IOMMU-backed DMA API is now supported and there's no way to detach from it on 64-bit ARM, don't bother to detach from it on 32-bit ARM either. Additional patches will be needed to fully enable this, but they're not quite ready yet. To round things off, this also adds support for configuring the SOR crossbar using device tree, and fixes a couple of job-related issues in the host1x code. Tegra DRM clients need access to their parent, so store a pointer to it upon registration. It's technically possible to get at this by going via the host1x client's parent and getting the driver data, but that's quite complicated and not very transparent. Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. Currently only HDMI output (the primary output on Jetson TX2) is supported, but the hardware is also capable of doing DSI and DisplayPort. Tegra DRM now also uses the atomic commit helpers instead of the open- coded variant that was only doing half its job. The display architecture has changed in several significant ways with the new Tegra186 SoC. Shared between all display controllers is a set of common resources referred to as the display hub. The hub generates accesses to memory and feeds them into various composition pipelines, each of which being a window that can be assigned to arbitrary heads. Atomic state is subclassed in order to track the global bandwidth requirements and select and adjust the hub clocks appropriately. 2017-10-20drm/tegra: hdmi: Add cec-notifier supportHans Verkuil1-0/+3
In order to support CEC the HDMI driver has to inform the CEC driver whenever the physical address changes. So when the EDID is read the CEC driver has to be informed and whenever the hotplug detect goes away. This is done through the cec-notifier framework. The link between the HDMI driver and the CEC driver is done through the hdmi-phandle property in the tegra-cec node in the device tree. Several channels could be made to write the same unit concurrently via the SETCLASS opcode, trusting userspace is a bad idea. It should be possible to drop the per-client channel reservation and add a per-unit locking by inserting MLOCK's to the command stream to re-allow the SETCLASS opcode, but it will be much more work. Let's forbid the unit-unrelated class changes for now. 2017-04-05drm/tegra: Add Tegra DRM allocation APIMikko Perttunen1-0/+11
Add a new IO virtual memory allocation API to allow clients to allocate non-GEM memory in the Tegra DRM IOMMU domain. This is required e.g. for loading client firmware when clients are attached to the IOMMU domain. The allocator allocates contiguous physical pages that are then mapped contiguously to the IOMMU domain using the iova_domain library provided by the kernel. Contiguous physical pages are used so that the same allocator works also when IOMMU support is disabled and therefore devices access physical memory directly.
