2017-09-13drivers: misc: ti_dac7512: Remove duplicate driverLukas Wunner1-103/+0
The Texas Instruments DAC7512 has the exact same pinout, programming interface and power-down modes as the Texas Instruments DAC121S101 and Analog Devices AD5320, which are already supported by the IIO driver ad5446.c. Remove the duplicate misc driver. This requires user space to migrate to the standardized IIO sysfs ABI. (In other words, it needs to change a filename.) The IIO driver supports the chip's features more fully, e.g. the ability to power down the output or choose one of the available powerdown modes. There is an oddity with the misc driver in that it initializes the SPI slave to SPI_MODE_0, in contradiction to the datasheet which specifies that data is latched in on the falling edge, implying that SPI_MODE_1 or SPI_MODE_2 must be used. Another oddity is that Kconfig and the MODULE_DESCRIPTION() claim the chip has 16-bit resolution although it actually has 12-bit. 2015-10-28spi: Drop owner assignment from spi_driversAndrew F. Davis1-1/+0
An spi_driver does not need to set an owner, it will be populated by the driver core. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Acked-by: Jonathan Cameron <jic23@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
2014-02-08drivers/misc: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker1-1/+0
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. 2013-09-26drivers: misc: ti_dac7512: add support for DT matchingDaniel Mack1-0/+10
Only matching is done via DT, no other details can be passed. Signed-off-by: Daniel Mack <zonque@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-09-26drivers: misc: ti_dac7512: provide a SPI ID tableDaniel Mack1-0/+7
This way, the module can be autoloaded by the SPI core. Signed-off-by: Daniel Mack <zonque@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-09-26drivers: misc: ti_dac7512: drop DAC7512_DRV_NAMEDaniel Mack1-3/+1
The driver's name can be provided directly, so drop the #define. Signed-off-by: Daniel Mack <zonque@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-09-26drivers: misc: ti_dac7512: drop module versionDaniel Mack1-2/+0
Providing a module version doesn't add any value, so drop it. Signed-off-by: Daniel Mack <zonque@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-06-06misc: replace strict_strtoul() with kstrtoul()Jingoo Han1-2/+4
The usage of strict_strtoul() is not preferred, because strict_strtoul() is obsolete. Thus, kstrtoul() should be used. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Reviewed-by: Andy Shevchenko <andriy.shevchenko@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

2012-01-25MISC: convert drivers/misc/* to use module_spi_driver()Axel Lin1-12/+1
