Add tx packets aggregation.
Bidirectional TCP throughput tests through iperf with low-cat
Thread-x based modems revelead performance issues both in tx
and rx.
The Windows driver does not show this issue: inspecting USB
packets revealed that the only notable change is the driver
enabling tx packets aggregation.
Tx packets aggregation is by default disabled and can be enabled
by increasing the value of ETHTOOL_A_COALESCE_TX_MAX_AGGR_FRAMES.
The maximum aggregated size is by default set to a reasonably low
value in order to support the majority of modems.
This implementation is based on patches available in Code Aurora
repositories (msm kernel) whose main authors are

Before adding yet another possibly contended atomic_long_t,
it is time to add per-cpu storage for existing ones:
dev->tx_dropped, dev->rx_dropped, and dev->rx_nohandler
Because many devices do not have to increment such counters,
allocate the per-cpu storage on demand, so that dev_get_stats()
does not have to spend considerable time folding zero counters.
Note that some drivers have abused these counters which
were supposed to be only used by core networking stack.
v4: should use per_cpu_ptr() in dev_get_stats() (Jakub)
v3: added a READ_ONCE() in netdev_core_stats_alloc() (Paolo)
v2: add a missing include (reported by kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com>)

Commit e1d9a90a9bfd ("net: ethernet: rmnet: Support for ingress MAPv5
checksum offload") broke ingress handling for devices where
RMNET_FLAGS_INGRESS_MAP_CKSUMV5 or RMNET_FLAGS_INGRESS_MAP_CKSUMV4 are
not set. Unless either of these flags are set, the MAP header is not
removed. This commit restores the original logic by ensuring that the
MAP header is removed for all MAP packets.

Adding support for MAPv5 egress packets.
This involves adding the MAPv5 header and setting the csum_valid_required
in the checksum header to request HW compute the checksum.
Corresponding stats are incremented based on whether the checksum is
computed in software or HW.
New stat has been added which represents the count of packets whose
checksum is calculated by the HW.

Adding support for processing of MAPv5 downlink packets.
It involves parsing the Mapv5 packet and checking the csum header
to know whether the hardware has validated the checksum and is
valid or not.
Based on the checksum valid bit the corresponding stats are
incremented and skb->ip_summed is marked either CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY
or left as CHEKSUM_NONE to let network stack revalidate the checksum
and update the respective snmp stats.
Current MAPV1 header has been modified, the reserved field in the
Mapv1 header is now used for next header indication.

The actual layout of bits defined in C bit-fields (e.g. int foo : 3)
is implementation-defined. Structures defined in <linux/if_rmnet.h>
address this by specifying all bit-fields twice, to cover two
possible layouts.
I think this pattern is repetitive and noisy, and I find the whole
notion of compiler "bitfield endianness" to be non-intuitive.
Stop using C bit-fields for the command/data flag and the pad length
fields in the rmnet_map structure, and define a single-byte flags
field instead. Define a mask for the single-bit "command" flag,
and another mask for the encoded pad length. The content of both
fields can be accessed using a simple bitwise AND operation.

The following macros, defined in "rmnet_map.h", assume a socket
buffer is provided as an argument without any real indication this
is the case.
RMNET_MAP_GET_MUX_ID()
RMNET_MAP_GET_CD_BIT()
RMNET_MAP_GET_PAD()
RMNET_MAP_GET_CMD_START()
RMNET_MAP_GET_LENGTH()
What they hide is pretty trivial accessing of fields in a structure,
and it's much clearer to see this if we do these accesses directly.
So rather than using these accessor macros, assign a local
variable of the map header pointer type to the socket buffer data
pointer, and derereference that pointer variable.
In "rmnet_map_data.c", use sizeof(object) rather than sizeof(type)
in one spot. Also, there's no need to byte swap 0; it's all zeros
irrespective of endianness.

During rmnet unregistration, the real device rx_handler is first cleared
followed by the removal of rx_handler_data after the rcu synchronization.
Any packets in the receive path may observe that the rx_handler is NULL.
However, there is no check when dereferencing this value to use the

Packet forwarding is not working in rmnet bridge mode.
Because when a packet is forwarded, skb_push() for an ethernet header

So, the ethernet header will be lost.

TX checksum offload applies to TCP / UDP packets which are not
fragmented using the MAPv4 checksum trailer. The following needs to be
done to have checksum computed in hardware -

3. Compute and set 1's complement of partial checksum field in
transport header.

When using the MAPv4 packet format, receive checksum offload can be
enabled in hardware. The checksum computation over pseudo header is
not offloaded but the rest of the checksum computation over
the payload is offloaded. This applies only for TCP / UDP packets
which are not fragmented.
rmnet validates the TCP/UDP checksum for the packet using the checksum
from the checksum trailer added to the packet by hardware. The
validation performed is as following -
1. Perform 1's complement over the checksum value from the trailer
2. Compute 1's complement checksum over IPv4 / IPv6 header and
subtracts it from the value from step 1
3. Computes 1's complement checksum over IPv4 / IPv6 pseudo header and
adds it to the value from step 2
4. Subtracts the checksum value from the TCP / UDP header from the
value from step 3.
5. Compares the value from step 4 to the checksum value from the
TCP / UDP header.
6. If the comparison in step 5 succeeds, CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY is set
and the packet is passed on to network stack. If there is a
failure, then the packet is passed on as such without modifying
the ip_summed field.
The checksum field is also checked for UDP checksum 0 as per RFC 768
and for unexpected TCP checksum of 0.
If checksum offload is disabled when using MAPv4 packet format in
receive path, the packet is queued as is to network stack without
the validations above.

The real device over which the rmnet devices are installed also
aggregate multiple IP packets and sends them as a single large
aggregate frame to the hardware. This causes degraded throughput
for TCP TX due to bufferbloat.
To overcome this problem, pacing shift value of 8 is set using the
sk_pacing_shift_update() helper. This value was determined based
on experiments with a single stream TCP TX using iperf for a

Since packet is always consumed by rmnet_rx_handler(), we always
return RX_HANDLER_CONSUMED. There is no need to pass on this
value through multiple functions.

Add support to bridge two devices which can send multiplexing and
aggregation (MAP) data. This is done only when the data itself is
not going to be consumed in the stack but is being passed on to a
different endpoint. This is mainly used for testing.

Rather than using a static array, use a hlist to store the muxed
endpoints and use the mux id to query the rmnet_device.
This is useful as usually very few mux ids are used.

The end point is set twice in the local_ep as well as the mux_id and
the real_dev in the rmnet private structure. Remove the local_ep.
While these elements are equivalent, rmnet_endpoint will be
used only as part of the rmnet_port for muxed scenarios in VND mode.

Mode information on the real device makes it easier to route packets
to rmnet device or bridged device based on the configuration.

RmNet driver provides a transport agnostic MAP (multiplexing and
aggregation protocol) support in embedded module. Module provides
virtual network devices which can be attached to any IP-mode
physical device. This will be used to provide all MAP functionality
on future hardware in a single consistent location.
