Sparse reports a warning at brcms_rfkill_set_hw_state()
warning: context imbalance in brcms_rfkill_set_hw_state()

As 'channel' is declared as u16, the following expression is always false.
channel < 0
So we can remove unnecessary 'always false' statement.

There really is no need to make drivers call the
ieee80211_start_tx_ba_cb_irqsafe() function and then
schedule the worker if all we want is to set a bit.
Add a new return value (that was previously considered
invalid) to indicate that the driver is immediately
ready for the session, and make drivers use it. The
only drivers that remain different are the Intel ones
as they need to negotiate more with the firmware.

In wlc_phy_radio_init_2056(), regs_SYN_2056_ptr, regs_TX_2056_ptr and
regs_RX_2056_ptr may be not assigned, and thus they are still NULL.
Then, they are used on lines 20042-20050:
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_SYN_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_SYN);
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_TX_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_TX0);
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_TX_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_TX1);
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_RX_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_RX0);
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_RX_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_RX1);
Thus, possible null-pointer dereferences may occur.
To avoid these bugs, when these variables are not assigned,
wlc_phy_radio_init_2056() directly returns.

Currently, the Kbuild core manipulates header search paths in a crazy
way [1].
To fix this mess, I want all Makefiles to add explicit $(srctree)/ to
the search paths in the srctree. Some Makefiles are already written in
that way, but not all. The goal of this work is to make the notation
consistent, and finally get rid of the gross hacks.
Having whitespaces after -I does not matter since commit 48f6e3cf5bc6
("kbuild: do not drop -I without parameter").
I also removed one header search path in:
drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmutil/Makefile
I was able to compile without it.

When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the
return value. The function can work or not, but the code logic should
never do something different based on this.

Beacons are not updated to reflect TIM changes. This is not compliant with
power-saving client stations as the beacons do not have valid TIM and can
cause the network to stall at random occasions and to have highly variable
latencies.
Fix it by updating beacon templates on mac80211 set_tim callback.

The ucode chunk might be relatively large and the allocation with
kmalloc() may fail occasionally. Since the data isn't DMA-transferred
but by manual loops, we can use vmalloc instead of kmalloc.
For a better performance, though, kvmalloc() would be the best choice
in such a case, so let's replace with it.

The last value in the log_table wraps around to a negative value
since s16 has a value range of -32768 to 32767. This is not what
the table intends to represent. Use the closest positive value
32767.
This fixes a warning seen with clang:
drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_qmath.c:216:2: warning:
implicit conversion from 'int' to 's16' (aka 'short') changes

The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This
patch replaces cases of:
kzalloc(a * b, gfp)
with:
kcalloc(a * b, gfp)
as well as handling cases of:
kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp)
with:
kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)
as it's slightly less ugly than:
kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)
This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:
kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)
though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.
Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The brcms_ucode_init_buf() duplicates the ucode chunks via kmemdup()
with GFP_ATOMIC as a precondition of wl->lock acquired. This caused
allocation failures sometimes as reported in the bugzilla below.
When looking at the the real usage, one can find that it's called
solely from brcms_request_fw(), and it's obviously outside the lock.
Hence we can use GFP_KERNEL there safely for avoiding such allocation
errors.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

The stack consumption in this driver is still relatively high, with one
remaining warning if the warning level is lowered to 1536 bytes:
drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_n.c:17135:1: error: the frame size of 1880 bytes is larger than 1536 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]
The affected function is actually a collection of three separate implementations,
and each of them is fairly large by itself. Splitting them up is done easily
and improves readability at the same time.
I'm leaving the original indentation to make the review easier.

With KASAN and a couple of other patches applied, this driver is one
of the few remaining ones that actually use more than 2048 bytes of
kernel stack:
broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_n.c: In function 'wlc_phy_workarounds_nphy_gainctrl':
broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_n.c:16065:1: warning: the frame size of 3264 bytes is larger than 2048 bytes [-Wframe-larger-than=]
broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_n.c: In function 'wlc_phy_workarounds_nphy':
broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/phy/phy_n.c:17138:1: warning: the frame size of 2864 bytes is larger than 2048 bytes [-Wframe-larger-than=]
Here, I'm reducing the stack size by marking as many local variables as
'static const' as I can without changing the actual code.
This is the first of three patches to improve the stack usage in this
driver. It would be good to have this backported to stabl kernels
to get all drivers in 'allmodconfig' below the 2048 byte limit so
we can turn on the frame warning again globally, but I realize that
the patch is larger than the normal limit for stable backports.
The other two patches do not need to be backported.

Set the NL80211_EXT_FEATURE_CQM_RSSI_LIST wiphy extended feature
wholesale in all mac80211-based drivers that do not set the
IEEE80211_VIF_BEACON_FILTER flags on their interfaces. mac80211 will
be processing supplied RSSI values in ieee80211_rx_mgmt_beacon and
will detect when the thresholds set by
ieee80211_set_cqm_rssi_range_config are crossed. Remaining (few)
drivers need code to enable the firmware to monitor the thresholds.
This is mostly only compile-tested.

The report is valid: doing the math in this function, with an input value
N=63 the variable s16tableIndex gets a value of 31. This value is used as
an index in the array log_table with 32 entries. But the next line is:
s16errorApproximation = (s16) qm_mulu16(u16offset,
(u16) (log_table[s16tableIndex + 1] -
log_table[s16tableIndex]));
With s16tableIndex + 1 we are trying an out-of-bounds access to the array.
The log_table array provides log2 values in q.15 format and the above
statement tries an error approximation with the next value. To fix this
issue add the next value to the array and update the comment accordingly.

wlc_phy_txpower_get_current() does a logical OR of power->flags, which
presumes that power.flags was initiliazed earlier by the caller,
unfortunately, this is not the case, so make sure we zero out the struct
tx_power before calling into wlc_phy_txpower_get_current().

Modern C standards expect the 'static' keyword to come first in a
declaration, and we get a warning for this with "make W=1":
