2023-05-22nfc: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()Uwe Kleine-König1-1/+1
After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. 2023-03-15nfc: st-nci: Fix use after free bug in ndlc_remove due to race conditionZheng Wang1-2/+4
This bug influences both st_nci_i2c_remove and st_nci_spi_remove. Take st_nci_i2c_remove as an example. In st_nci_i2c_probe, it called ndlc_probe and bound &ndlc->sm_work with llt_ndlc_sm_work. When it calls ndlc_recv or timeout handler, it will finally call schedule_work to start the work. When we call st_nci_i2c_remove to remove the driver, there may be a sequence as follows: Fix it by finishing the work before cleanup in ndlc_remove CPU0 CPU1 |llt_ndlc_sm_work st_nci_i2c_remove | ndlc_remove | st_nci_remove | nci_free_device| kfree(ndev) | //free ndlc->ndev | |llt_ndlc_rcv_queue |nci_recv_frame |//use ndlc->ndev Fixes: 35630df68d60 ("NFC: st21nfcb: Add driver for STMicroelectronics ST21NFCB NFC chip") Signed-off-by: Zheng Wang <zyytlz.wz@163.com> Reviewed-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzysztof.kozlowski@linaro.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230312160837.2040857-1-zyytlz.wz@163.com Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>
2023-02-26nfc: fix memory leak of se_io context in nfc_genl_se_ioFedor Pchelkin1-0/+6
The callback context for sending/receiving APDUs to/from the selected secure element is allocated inside nfc_genl_se_io and supposed to be eventually freed in se_io_cb callback function. However, there are several error paths where the bwi_timer is not charged to call se_io_cb later, and the cb_context is leaked. The patch proposes to free the cb_context explicitly on those error paths. At the moment we can't simply check 'dev->ops->se_io()' return value as it may be negative in both cases: when the timer was charged and was not. 2022-11-24nfc: st-nci: fix incorrect sizing calculations in EVT_TRANSACTIONMartin Faltesek1-15/+36
The transaction buffer is allocated by using the size of the packet buf, and subtracting two which seems intended to remove the two tags which are not present in the target structure. This calculation leads to under counting memory because of differences between the packet contents and the target structure. The aid_len field is a u8 in the packet, but a u32 in the structure, resulting in at least 3 bytes always being under counted. Further, the aid data is a variable length field in the packet, but fixed in the structure, so if this field is less than the max, the difference is added to the under counting. To fix, perform validation checks progressively to safely reach the next field, to determine the size of both buffers and verify both tags. Once all validation checks pass, allocate the buffer and copy the data. This eliminates freeing memory on the error path, as validation checks are moved ahead of memory allocation. 2022-11-24nfc: st-nci: fix incorrect validating logic in EVT_TRANSACTIONMartin Faltesek1-1/+1
The first validation check for EVT_TRANSACTION has two different checks tied together with logical AND. One is a check for minimum packet length, and the other is for a valid aid_tag. 2021-07-25nfc: constify nci_opsKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+2
The struct nci_ops is modified by NFC core in only one case: nci_allocate_device() receives too many proprietary commands (prop_ops) to configure. This is a build time known constrain, so a graceful handling of such case is not necessary. Instead, fail the nci_allocate_device() and add BUILD_BUG_ON() to places which set these. 2017-11-22treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()Kees Cook1-6/+6
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes, since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following examples, in addition to some other variations. Casting from unsigned long: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr); and forced object casts: void my_callback(struct something *ptr) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr); become: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); Direct function assignments: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback; have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback; And finally, callbacks without a data assignment: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion: void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused) { ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script: spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \ -I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \ -I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \ -I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \ -I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \ --dir . \ --cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci @fix_address_of@ expression e; This mechanically converts all remaining cases of ancient open-coded timer setup with the old setup_timer() API, which is the first step in timer conversions. This has no behavioral changes, since it ultimately just changes the order of assignment to fields of struct timer_list when finding variations of: init_timer(&t); f.function = timer_callback; t.data = timer_callback_arg; to be converted into: setup_timer(&t, timer_callback, timer_callback_arg); The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script, which is an improved version of scripts/cocci/api/setup_timer.cocci, in the following ways: - assignments-before-init_timer() cases - limit the .data case removal to the specific struct timer_list instance - handling calls by dereference (timer->field vs timer.field) spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \ -I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \ -I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \ -I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \ -I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \ --dir . \ --cocci-file ~/src/data/setup_timer.cocci @fix_address_of@ expression e; @@ init_timer( -&(e) +&e , ...) // Match the common cases first to avoid Coccinelle parsing loops with // "... when" clauses. @match_immediate_function_data_after_init_timer@ expression e, func, da; @@ -init_timer +setup_timer ( \(&e\|e\) +, func, da ); ( -\(e.function\|e->function\) = func; -\(e.data\|e->data\) = da; | -\(e.data\|e->data\) = da; -\(e.function\|e->function\) = func; ) @match_immediate_function_data_before_init_timer@ expression e, func, da; @@ ( -\(e.function\|e->function\) = func; -\(e.data\|e->data\) = da; | -\(e.data\|e->data\) = da; -\(e.function\|e->function\) = func; ) -init_timer +setup_timer ( \(&e\|e\) +, func, da ); @match_function_and_data_after_init_timer@ expression e, e2, e3, e4, e5, func, da; @@ -init_timer +setup_timer ( \(&e\|e\) +, func, da ); ... when != func = e2 when != da = e3 ( -e.function = func; ... when != da = e4 -e.data = da; | -e->function = func; ... when != da = e4 -e->data = da; | -e.data = da; ... when != func = e5 -e.function = func; | -e->data = da; ... when != func = e5 -e->function = func; ) @match_function_and_data_before_init_timer@ expression e, e2, e3, e4, e5, func, da; @@ ( -e.function = func; ... when != da = e4 -e.data = da; | -e->function = func; ... when != da = e4 -e->data = da; | -e.data = da; ... when != func = e5 -e.function = func; | -e->data = da; ... when != func = e5 -e->function = func; ) ... when != func = e2 when != da = e3 -init_timer +setup_timer ( \(&e\|e\) +, func, da ); @r1 exists@ expression t; identifier f; position p; @@ f(...) { ... when any init_timer@p(\(&t\|t\)) ... when any } @r2 exists@ expression r1.t; identifier g != r1.f; expression e8; @@ g(...) { ... when any \(t.data\|t->data\) = e8 ... when any } // It is dangerous to use setup_timer if data field is initialized // in another function. @script:python depends on r2@ p << r1.p; @@ cocci.include_match(False) @r3@ expression r1.t, func, e7; position r1.p; @@ ( -init_timer@p(&t); +setup_timer(&t, func, 0UL); ... when != func = e7 -t.function = func; | -t.function = func; ... when != func = e7 -init_timer@p(&t); +setup_timer(&t, func, 0UL); | -init_timer@p(t); +setup_timer(t, func, 0UL); ... when != func = e7 -t->function = func; | -t->function = func; ... when != func = e7 -init_timer@p(t); +setup_timer(t, func, 0UL); ) Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org>

2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches.
