2023-09-11xfs: fix an agbno overflow in __xfs_getfsmap_datadevDarrick J. Wong1-7/+18
Dave Chinner reported that xfs/273 fails if the AG size happens to be an exact power of two. I traced this to an agbno integer overflow when the current GETFSMAP call is a continuation of a previous GETFSMAP call, and the last record returned was non-shareable space at the end of an AG. __xfs_getfsmap_datadev sets up a data device query by converting the incoming fmr_physical into an xfs_fsblock_t and cracking it into an agno and agbno pair. In the (failing) case of where fmr_blockcount of the low key is nonzero and the record was for a non-shareable extent, it will add fmr_blockcount to start_fsb and info->low.rm_startblock. If the low key was actually the last record for that AG, then this addition causes info->low.rm_startblock to point beyond EOAG. When the rmapbt range query starts, it'll return an empty set, and fsmap moves on to the next AG. Or so I thought. Remember how we added to start_fsb? If agsize < 1<<agblklog, start_fsb points to the same AG as the original fmr_physical from the low key. We run the rmapbt query, which returns nothing, so getfsmap zeroes info->low and moves on to the next AG. If agsize == 1<<agblklog, start_fsb now points to the next AG. We run the rmapbt query on the next AG with the excessively large rm_startblock. If this next AG is actually the last AG, we'll set info->high to EOFS (which is now has a lower rm_startblock than info->low), and the ranged btree query code will return -EINVAL. If it's not the last AG, we ignore all records for the intermediate AGs. Oops. Fix this by decoding start_fsb into agno and agbno only after making adjustments to start_fsb. This means that info->low.rm_startblock will always be set to a valid agbno, and we always start the rmapbt iteration in the correct AG. While we're at it, fix the predicate for determining if an fsmap record represents non-shareable space to include file data on pre-reflink filesystems. 2023-07-02xfs: fix logdev fsmap query result filteringDarrick J. Wong1-22/+8
The external log device fsmap backend doesn't have an rmapbt to query, so it's wasteful to spend time initializing the rmap_irec objects. Worse yet, the log could (someday) be longer than 2^32 fsblocks, so using the rmap irec structure will result in integer overflows. Fix this mess by computing the start address that we want from keys[0] directly, and use the daddr-based record filtering algorithm that we also use for rtbitmap queries. 2023-07-02xfs: clean up the rtbitmap fsmap backendDarrick J. Wong1-53/+9
The rtbitmap fsmap backend doesn't query the rmapbt, so it's wasteful to spend time initializing the rmap_irec objects. Worse yet, the logic to query the rtbitmap is spread across three separate functions, which is unnecessarily difficult to follow. Compute the start rtextent that we want from keys[0] directly and combine the functions to avoid passing parameters around everywhere, and consolidate all the logic into a single function. At one point many years ago I intended to use __xfs_getfsmap_rtdev as the launching point for realtime rmapbt queries, but this hasn't been the case for a long time. Signed-off-by: Darrick J. 2023-07-02xfs: fix getfsmap reporting past the last rt extentDarrick J. Wong1-1/+1
The realtime section ends at the last rt extent. If the user configures the rt geometry with an extent size that is not an integer factor of the number of rt blocks, it's possible for there to be rt blocks past the end of the last rt extent. These tail blocks cannot ever be allocated and will cause corruption reports if the last extent coincides with the end of an rt bitmap block, so do not report consider them for the GETFSMAP output. 2023-07-02xfs: fix integer overflows in the fsmap rtbitmap and logdev backendsDarrick J. Wong1-26/+64
It's not correct to use the rmap irec structure to hold query key information to query the rtbitmap because the realtime volume can be longer than 2^32 fsblocks in length. Because the rt volume doesn't have allocation groups, introduce a daddr-based record filtering algorithm and compute the rtextent values using 64-bit variables. The same problem exists in the external log device fsmap implementation, so use the same solution to fix it too. After this patch, all the code that touches info->low and info->high under xfs_getfsmap_logdev and __xfs_getfsmap_rtdev are unnecessary. Cleaning this up will be done in subsequent patches. 2023-07-02xfs: fix interval filtering in multi-step fsmap queriesDarrick J. Wong1-19/+48
I noticed a bug in ranged GETFSMAP queries: # xfs_io -c 'fsmap -vvvv' /opt EXT: DEV BLOCK-RANGE OWNER FILE-OFFSET AG AG-OFFSET TOTAL 0: 8:80 [0..7]: static fs metadata 0 (0..7) 8 <snip> 9: 8:80 [192..223]: 137 0..31 0 (192..223) 32 # xfs_io -c 'fsmap -vvvv -d 208 208' /opt # That's not right -- we asked what block maps block 208, and we should've received a mapping for inode 137 offset 16. Instead, we get nothing. The root cause of this problem is a mis-interaction between the fsmap code and how btree ranged queries work. xfs_btree_query_range returns any btree record that overlaps with the query interval, even if the record starts before or ends after the interval. Similarly, GETFSMAP is supposed to return a recordset containing all records that overlap the range queried. However, it's possible that the recordset is larger than the buffer that the caller provided to convey mappings to userspace. In /that/ case, userspace is supposed to copy the last record returned to fmh_keys[0] and call GETFSMAP again. In this case, we do not want to return mappings that we have already supplied to the caller. The call to xfs_btree_query_range is the same, but now we ignore any records that start before fmh_keys[0]. Unfortunately, we didn't implement the filtering predicate correctly. The predicate should only be called when we're calling back for more records. Accomplish this by setting info->low.rm_blockcount to a nonzero value and ensuring that it is cleared as necessary. As a result, we no longer want to adjust dkeys[0] in the main setup function because that's confusing. This patch doesn't touch the logdev/rtbitmap backends because they have bigger problems that will be addressed by subsequent patches. Found via xfs/556 with parent pointers enabled. 2023-02-13xfs: active perag reference countingDave Chinner1-2/+2
We need to be able to dynamically remove instantiated AGs from memory safely, either for shrinking the filesystem or paging AG state in and out of memory (e.g. supporting millions of AGs). This means we need to be able to safely exclude operations from accessing perags while dynamic removal is in progress. To do this, introduce the concept of active and passive references. Active references are required for high level operations that make use of an AG for a given operation (e.g. allocation) and pin the perag in memory for the duration of the operation that is operating on the perag (e.g. transaction scope). This means we can fail to get an active reference to an AG, hence callers of the new active reference API must be able to handle lookup failure gracefully. Passive references are used in low level code, where we might need to access the perag structure for the purposes of completing high level operations. For example, buffers need to use passive references because: - we need to be able to do metadata IO during operations like grow and shrink transactions where high level active references to the AG have already been blocked - buffers need to pin the perag until they are reclaimed from memory, something that high level code has no direct control over. - unused cached buffers should not prevent a shrink from being started. Hence we have active references that will form exclusion barriers for operations to be performed on an AG, and passive references that will prevent reclaim of the perag until all objects with passive references have been reclaimed themselves. This patch introduce xfs_perag_grab()/xfs_perag_rele() as the API for active AG reference functionality. We also need to convert the for_each_perag*() iterators to use active references, which will start the process of converting high level code over to using active references. Conversion of non-iterator based code to active references will be done in followup patches. Note that the implementation using reference counting is really just a development vehicle for the API to ensure we don't have any leaks in the callers. Once we need to remove perag structures from memory dyanmically, we will need a much more robust per-ag state transition mechanism for preventing new references from being taken while we wait for existing references to drain before removal from memory can occur.... 2021-08-19xfs: replace xfs_sb_version checks with feature flag checksDave Chinner1-2/+2
Convert the xfs_sb_version_hasfoo() to checks against mp->m_features. Checks of the superblock itself during disk operations (e.g. in the read/write verifiers and the to/from disk formatters) are not converted - they operate purely on the superblock state. Everything else should use the mount features. Large parts of this conversion were done with sed with commands like this: for f in `git grep -l xfs_sb_version_has fs/xfs/*.c`; do sed -i -e 's/xfs_sb_version_has\(.*\)(&\(.*\)->m_sb)/xfs_has_\1(\2)/' $f done With manual cleanups for things like "xfs_has_extflgbit" and other little inconsistencies in naming. 2021-08-19xfs: make fsmap backend function key parameters constDarrick J. Wong1-17/+13
There are several GETFSMAP backend functions for XFS to cover the three devices and various feature support. Each of these functions are passed pointers to the low and high keys for the dataset that userspace requested, and a pointer to scratchpad variables that are used to control the iteration and fill out records. The scratchpad data can be changed arbitrarily, but the keys are supposed to remain unchanged (and under the control of the outermost loop in xfs_getfsmap). Unfortunately, the data and rt backends modify the keys that are passed in from the main control loop, which causes subsequent calls to return incorrect query results. Specifically, each of those two functions set the block number in the high key to the size of their respective device. Since fsmap results are sorted in device number order, if the lower numbered device is smaller than the higher numbered device, the first function will set the high key to the small size, and the key remains unchanged as it is passed into the function for the higher numbered device. The second function will then fail to return all of the results for the dataset that userspace is asking for because the keyspace is incorrectly constrained. Signed-off-by: Darrick J. 2021-08-19xfs: fix off-by-one error when the last rt extent is in useDarrick J. Wong1-5/+15
The fsmap implementation for realtime devices uses the gap between info->next_daddr and a free rtextent reported by xfs_rtalloc_query_range to feed userspace fsmap records with an "unknown" owner. We use this trick to report to userspace when the last rtextent in the filesystem is in use by synthesizing a null rmap record starting at the next block after the query range. Unfortunately, there's a minor accounting bug in the way that we construct the null rmap record. Originally, ahigh.ar_startext contains the last rtextent for which the user wants records. It's entirely possible that number is beyond the end of the rt volume, so the location synthesized rmap record /must/ be constrained to the minimum of the high key and the number of extents in the rt volume. 2020-10-07xfs: fix deadlock and streamline xfs_getfsmap performanceDarrick J. Wong1-20/+25
Refactor xfs_getfsmap to improve its performance: instead of indirectly calling a function that copies one record to userspace at a time, create a shadow buffer in the kernel and copy the whole array once at the end. On the author's computer, this reduces the runtime on his /home by ~20%. This also eliminates a deadlock when running GETFSMAP against the realtime device. The current code locks the rtbitmap to create fsmappings and copies them into userspace, having not released the rtbitmap lock. If the userspace buffer is an mmap of a sparse file that itself resides on the realtime device, the write page fault will recurse into the fs for allocation, which will deadlock on the rtbitmap lock. 2019-06-29xfs: remove unused header filesEric Sandeen1-4/+0
There are many, many xfs header files which are included but unneeded (or included twice) in the xfs code, so remove them. nb: xfs_linux.h includes about 9 headers for everyone, so those explicit includes get removed by this. I'm not sure what the preference is, but if we wanted explicit includes everywhere, a followup patch could remove those xfs_*.h includes from xfs_linux.h and move them into the files that need them. Or it could be left as-is. Signed-off-by: Eric Sandeen <sandeen@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Darrick J. Wong <darrick.wong@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: Darrick J. Wong <darrick.wong@oracle.com>

2018-07-12xfs: remove unused btree cursor bc_private.a.dfops fieldBrian Foster1-1/+1
The xfs_btree_cur.bc_private.a.dfops field is only ever initialized by the refcountbt cursor init function. The only caller of that function with a non-NULL dfops is from deferred completion context, which already has attached to ->t_dfops. In addition to that, the only actual reference of a.dfops is the cursor duplication function, which means the field is effectively unused. Remove the dfops field from the bc_private.a union. Any future users can acquire the dfops from the transaction. This patch does not change behavior. 2018-06-24xfs: fix uninitialized field in rtbitmap fsmap backendDarrick J. Wong1-2/+2
Initialize the extent count field of the high key so that when we use the high key to synthesize an 'unknown owner' record (i.e. used space record) at the end of the queried range we have a field with which to compute rm_blockcount. This is not strictly necessary because the synthesizer never uses the rm_blockcount field, but we can shut up the static code analysis anyway. Coverity-id: 1437358 Signed-off-by: Darrick J. 2018-06-07xfs: convert to SPDX license tagsDave Chinner1-15/+1
Remove the verbose license text from XFS files and replace them with SPDX tags. This does not change the license of any of the code, merely refers to the common, up-to-date license files in LICENSES/ This change was mostly scripted. fs/xfs/Makefile and fs/xfs/libxfs/xfs_fs.h were modified by hand, the rest were detected and modified by the following command: for f in `git grep -l "GNU General" fs/xfs/` ; do echo $f cat $f | awk -f hdr.awk > $f.new mv -f $f.new $f done And the hdr.awk script that did the modification (including detecting the difference between GPL-2.0 and GPL-2.0+ licenses) is as follows: $ cat hdr.awk BEGIN { hdr = 1.0 tag = "GPL-2.0" str = "" } /^ \* This program is free software/ { hdr = 2.0; next } /any later version./ { tag = "GPL-2.0+" next } /^ \*\// { if (hdr > 0.0) { print "// SPDX-License-Identifier: " tag print str print $0 str="" hdr = 0.0 next } print $0 next } /^ \* / { if (hdr > 1.0) next if (hdr > 0.0) { if (str != "") str = str "\n" str = str $0 next } print $0 next } /^ \*/ { if (hdr > 0.0) next print $0 next } // { if (hdr > 0.0) { if (str != "") str = str "\n" str = str $0 next } print $0 } END { } $ Signed-off-by: Dave Chinner <dchinner@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Darrick J. 2017-05-16xfs: only return detailed fsmap info if the caller has CAP_SYS_ADMINDarrick J. Wong1-1/+4
There were a number of handwaving complaints that one could "possibly" use inode numbers and extent maps to fingerprint a filesystem hosting multiple containers and somehow use the information to guess at the contents of other containers and attack them. Despite the total lack of any demonstration that this is actually possible, it's easier to restrict access now and broaden it later, so use the rmapbt fsmap backends only if the caller has CAP_SYS_ADMIN. Unprivileged users will just have to make do with only getting the free space and static metadata placement information. Signed-off-by: Darrick J.
