2019-01-10bcma: keep a direct pointer to the struct deviceRafał Miłecki1-8/+3
Accessing struct device is pretty useful/common so having a direct pointer: 1) Simplifies some code 2) Makes bcma_bus_get_host_dev() unneeded 3) Allows further improvements like using dev_* printing helpers Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <rafal@milecki.pl> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>
2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2016-08-19net: bgmac: support Ethernet core on BCM53573 SoCsRafał Miłecki1-0/+3
BCM53573 is a new series of Broadcom's SoCs. It's based on ARM and can be found in two packages (versions): BCM53573 and BCM47189. It shares some code with the Northstar family, but also requires some new quirks. First of all there can be up to 2 Ethernet cores on this SoC. If that is the case, they are connected to two different switch ports allowing some more complex/optimized setups. It seems the second unit doesn't come fully configured and requires some IRQ quirk. Other than that only the first core is connected to the PHY. For the second one we have to register fixed PHY (similarly to the Northstar), otherwise generic PHY driver would get some invalid info. This has been successfully tested on Tenda AC9 (BCM47189B0). Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <rafal@milecki.pl> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-07-10x86/quirks: Add early quirk to reset Apple AirPort cardLukas Wunner1-0/+1
The EFI firmware on Macs contains a full-fledged network stack for downloading OS X images from osrecovery.apple.com. Unfortunately on Macs introduced 2011 and 2012, EFI brings up the Broadcom 4331 wireless card on every boot and leaves it enabled even after ExitBootServices has been called. The card continues to assert its IRQ line, causing spurious interrupts if the IRQ is shared. It also corrupts memory by DMAing received packets, allowing for remote code execution over the air. This only stops when a driver is loaded for the wireless card, which may be never if the driver is not installed or blacklisted. The issue seems to be constrained to the Broadcom 4331. Chris Milsted has verified that the newer Broadcom 4360 built into the MacBookPro11,3 (2013/2014) does not exhibit this behaviour. The chances that Apple will ever supply a firmware fix for the older machines appear to be zero. The solution is to reset the card on boot by writing to a reset bit in its mmio space. This must be done as an early quirk and not as a plain vanilla PCI quirk to successfully combat memory corruption by DMAed packets: Matthew Garrett found out in 2012 that the packets are written to EfiBootServicesData memory (http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/11235.html). This type of memory is made available to the page allocator by efi_free_boot_services(). Plain vanilla PCI quirks run much later, in subsys initcall level. In-between a time window would be open for memory corruption. Random crashes occurring in this time window and attributed to DMAed packets have indeed been observed in the wild by Chris Bainbridge. When Matthew Garrett analyzed the memory corruption issue in 2012, he sought to fix it with a grub quirk which transitions the card to D3hot: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/grub.git/commit/?id=9d34bb85da56 This approach does not help users with other bootloaders and while it may prevent DMAed packets, it does not cure the spurious interrupts emanating from the card. Unfortunately the card's mmio space is inaccessible in D3hot, so to reset it, we have to undo the effect of Matthew's grub patch and transition the card back to D0. Note that the quirk takes a few shortcuts to reduce the amount of code: The size of BAR 0 and the location of the PM capability is identical on all affected machines and therefore hardcoded. Only the address of BAR 0 differs between models. Also, it is assumed that the BCMA core currently mapped is the 802.11 core. The EFI driver seems to always take care of this. Michael Büsch, Bjorn Helgaas and Matt Fleming contributed feedback towards finding the best solution to this problem. 2016-04-30phy: bcm-ns-usb2: new driver for USB 2.0 PHY on NorthstarRafał Miłecki1-0/+1
Northstar is a family of SoCs used in home routers. They have USB 2.0 and 3.0 controllers with PHYs that need to be properly initialized. This driver provides PHY init support in a generic way and can be bound with an EHCI controller driver. There are (just a few) registers being defined in bcma header. It's because DMU/CRU registers will be also needed in other drivers. We will need them e.g. in PCIe controller/PHY driver and at some point probably in clock driver for BCM53573 chipset. By using include/linux/bcma/ we avoid code duplication. Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <zajec5@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Kishon Vijay Abraham I <kishon@ti.com>

2012-10-19bcma: add an extra pcie core structHauke Mehrtens1-1/+1
The BCM4706 has two PCIe host controller on the bcma bus. For PCIe client mode it is assumed that there is only one PCIe controller so the PCIe driver, like b43 and brcmsmac are accessing the first PCIe controller when they want to issue a operation on the host controller. Pull more networking updates from David Miller: "Ok, everything from here on out will be bug fixes." 1) One final sync of wireless and bluetooth stuff from John Linville. These changes have all been in his tree for more than a week, and therefore have had the necessary -next exposure. John was just away on a trip and didn't have a change to send the pull request until a day or two ago. 2) Put back some defines in user exposed header file areas that were removed during the tokenring purge. From Stephen Hemminger and Paul Gortmaker. 3) A bug fix for UDP hash table allocation got lost in the pile due to one of those "you got it.. no I've got it.." situations. :-) From Tim Bird. 4) SKB coalescing in TCP needs to have stricter checks, otherwise we'll try to coalesce overlapping frags and crash. Fix from Eric Dumazet. 5) RCU routing table lookups can race with free_fib_info(), causing crashes when we deref the device pointers in the route. Fix by releasing the net device in the RCU callback. 2012-04-19bcma: scan for extra address spaceHauke Mehrtens1-0/+1
Some cores like the USB core have two address spaces. In the USB host controller one address space is used for the OHCI and the other for the EHCI controller interface. The USB controller is the only core I found with two address spaces. This code is based on the AI scan function ai_scan() in shared/aiutils.c in the Broadcom SDK. 2012-03-06bcma: add support for sprom not found on the deviceHauke Mehrtens1-0/+6
On SoCs the sprom is stored in the nvram in a special partition on the flash chip. The nvram contains the sprom for the main bus, but sometimes also for a pci devices using bcma. This patch makes it possible for the arch code to register a function to fetch the needed sprom from the nvram and provide it to the bcma code. 2011-12-14bcma: use static keyword for inline function declaration in bcma.hArend van Spriel1-11/+12

2011-12-14bcma: add set/mask macros for 16-bit register accessArend van Spriel1-6/+26
The BCMA header only had definitions for 32-bit register access. Used those as a template for the 16-bit flavour. Also changed them to inline functions to be on the safe side. As offset parameter is used twice there would be a problem when used like this: bcma_set32(core, offset++, val); Reviewed-by: Pieter-Paul Giesberts <pieterpg@broadcom.com> Reviewed-by: Alwin Beukers <alwin@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Arend van Spriel <arend@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Franky Lin <frankyl@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: John W. 2011-11-01include: convert various register fcns to macros to avoid include chainingPaul Gortmaker1-4/+3
The original implementations reference THIS_MODULE in an inline. We could include <linux/export.h>, but it is better to avoid chaining. Fortunately someone else already thought of this, and made a similar inline into a #define in <linux/device.h> for device_schedule_callback(), [see commit 523ded71de0] so follow that precedent here. Also bubble up any __must_check that were used on the prev. wrapper inline functions up one to the real __register functions, to preserve any prev. sanity checks that were used in those instances.
