2024-02-02wifi: mac80211: fix driver debugfs for vif type changeJohannes Berg1-2/+2
If a driver implements the change_interface() method, we switch interface type without taking the interface down, but still will recreate the debugfs for it since it's a new type. As such, we should use the ieee80211_debugfs_recreate_netdev() function here to also recreate the driver's files, if it is indeed from a type change while up. 2023-12-19wifi: mac80211: add/remove driver debugfs entries as appropriateBenjamin Berg1-3/+6
When an interface is removed, we should also be deleting the driver debugfs entries (as it might still exist in DOWN state in mac80211). At the same time, when adding an interface, we can check the IEEE80211_SDATA_IN_DRIVER flag to know whether the interface was previously known to the driver and is simply being reconfigured. 2023-11-27wifi: mac80211: use wiphy locked debugfs for sdata/linkJohannes Berg1-45/+105
The debugfs files for netdevs (sdata) and links are removed with the wiphy mutex held, which may deadlock. Use the new wiphy locked debugfs to avoid that. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2023-10-23wifi: mac80211: Rename and update IEEE80211_VIF_DISABLE_SMPS_OVERRIDEIlan Peer1-1/+4
EMLSR operation and SMPS operation cannot coexist. Thus, when EMLSR is enabled, all SMPS signaling towards the AP should be stopped (it is expected that the AP will consider SMPS to be off). Rename IEEE80211_VIF_DISABLE_SMPS_OVERRIDE to IEEE80211_VIF_EML_ACTIVE and use the flag as an indication from the driver that EMLSR is enabled. When EMLSR is enabled SMPS flows towards the AP MLD should be stopped. 2023-10-23wifi: mac80211: handle debugfs when switching to/from MLOMiri Korenblit1-5/+18
In MLO, we have a per-link debugfs directory which contains the per-link files. In case of non-MLO we would like to put the per-link files in the netdev directory to keep it how it was before MLO. - Upon interface creation the netdev will be created with the per-link files in it. - Upon switching to MLO: delete the entire netdev directory and then recreate it without the per-link files. Then the per-link directories with the per-link files in it will be created in ieee80211_link_init() - Upon switching to non-MLO: delete the entire netdev directory (including the per-link directories) and recreate it with the per-link files in it. Note that this also aligns to always call the vif link debugfs method for the deflink as promised in the documentation, which wasn't done before. 2023-09-11wifi: cfg80211: remove wdev mutexJohannes Berg1-9/+1
Since we're now protecting everything with the wiphy mutex (and were really using it for almost everything before), there's no longer any real reason to have a separate wdev mutex. It may feel better, but really has no value. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2023-09-11wifi: mac80211: hold wiphy lock in netdev/link debugfsJohannes Berg1-33/+90
It's no longer really needed to ensure that the debugfs file isn't going away, debugfs handles that. So there's no point in holding dev_base_lock or RTNL here, but we should instead hold the wiphy lock since drivers will be allowed to depend on that. Do that, which requires splitting the sdata and link macros a bit. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2022-07-15wifi: mac80211: RCU-ify link/link_conf pointersJohannes Berg1-1/+1
Since links can be added and removed dynamically, we need to somehow protect the sdata->link[] and vif->link_conf[] array pointers from disappearing when accessing them without locks. RCU-ify the pointers to achieve this, which requires quite a bit of rework. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2022-07-01wifi: mac80211: switch airtime fairness back to deficit round-robin schedulingFelix Fietkau1-31/+1
This reverts commits 6a789ba679d652587532cec2a0e0274fda172f3b and 2433647bc8d983a543e7d31b41ca2de1c7e2c198. The virtual time scheduler code has a number of issues: - queues slowed down by hardware/firmware powersave handling were not properly handled. - on ath10k in push-pull mode, tx queues that the driver tries to pull from were starved, causing excessive latency - delay between tx enqueue and reported airtime use were causing excessively bursty tx behavior The bursty behavior may also be present on the round-robin scheduler, but there it is much easier to fix without introducing additional regressions Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name> Acked-by: Toke Høiland-Jørgensen <toke@toke.dk> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220625212411.36675-1-nbd@nbd.name Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2022-06-20wifi: mac80211: make some SMPS code MLD-awareJohannes Berg1-1/+1

2022-06-20wifi: mac80211: reorg some iface data structs for MLDJohannes Berg1-6/+6
Start reorganizing interface related data structures toward MLD. The most complex part here is for the keys, since we have to split the various kinds of GTKs off to the link but still need to use (for WEP) the other keys as a fallback even for multicast frames. 2022-06-20wifi: mac80211: move interface config to new structJohannes Berg1-3/+3
We'll use bss_conf for per-link configuration later, so move out all the non-link-specific data out into a new struct ieee80211_vif_cfg used in the vif. Some adjustments were done with the following spatch: @@ expression sdata; struct ieee80211_vif *vifp; identifier var = { assoc, ibss_joined, aid, arp_addr_list, arp_addr_cnt, ssid, ssid_len, s1g, ibss_creator }; @@ ( -sdata->vif.bss_conf.var +sdata->vif.cfg.var | -vifp->bss_conf.var +vifp->cfg.var ) @bss_conf@ struct ieee80211_bss_conf *bss_conf; identifier var = { assoc, ibss_joined, aid, arp_addr_list, arp_addr_cnt, ssid, ssid_len, s1g, ibss_creator }; @@ -bss_conf->var +vif_cfg->var (though more manual fixups were needed, e.g. replacing "vif_cfg->" by "vif->cfg." in many files.) Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2022-05-16mac80211: use ifmgd->bssid instead of ifmgd->associated->bssidJohannes Berg1-1/+1
Since we always track the BSSID there when we get associated, these are equivalent, but ifmgd->bssid saves a dereference and thus makes the code a bit smaller, and more readable. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2022-02-04mac80211: remove unused macrosJohannes Berg1-3/+1

2021-06-23mac80211: Switch to a virtual time-based airtime schedulerToke Høiland-Jørgensen1-1/+31
This switches the airtime scheduler in mac80211 to use a virtual time-based scheduler instead of the round-robin scheduler used before. This has a couple of advantages: - No need to sync up the round-robin scheduler in firmware/hardware with the round-robin airtime scheduler. - If several stations are eligible for transmission we can schedule both of them; no need to hard-block the scheduling rotation until the head of the queue has used up its quantum. - The check of whether a station is eligible for transmission becomes simpler (in ieee80211_txq_may_transmit()). The drawback is that scheduling becomes slightly more expensive, as we need to maintain an rbtree of TXQs sorted by virtual time. This means that ieee80211_register_airtime() becomes O(logN) in the number of currently scheduled TXQs because it can change the order of the scheduled stations. We mitigate this overhead by only resorting when a station changes position in the tree, and hopefully N rarely grows too big (it's only TXQs currently backlogged, not all associated stations), so it shouldn't be too big of an issue. To prevent divisions in the fast path, we maintain both station sums and pre-computed reciprocals of the sums. This turns the fast-path operation into a multiplication, with divisions only happening as the number of active stations change (to re-compute the current sum of all active station weights). To prevent this re-computation of the reciprocal from happening too frequently, we use a time-based notion of station activity, instead of updating the weight every time a station gets scheduled or de-scheduled. As queues can oscillate between empty and occupied quite frequently, this can significantly cut down on the number of re-computations. It also has the added benefit of making the station airtime calculation independent on whether the queue happened to have drained at the time an airtime value was accounted. 2020-07-31cfg80211/mac80211: add mesh_param "mesh_nolearn" to skip path discoveryLinus Lüssing1-0/+2
Currently, before being able to forward a packet between two 802.11s nodes, both a PLINK handshake is performed upon receiving a beacon and then later a PREQ/PREP exchange for path discovery is performed on demand upon receiving a data frame to forward. When running a mesh protocol on top of an 802.11s interface, like batman-adv, we do not need the multi-hop mesh routing capabilities of 802.11s and usually set mesh_fwding=0. However, even with mesh_fwding=0 the PREQ/PREP path discovery is still performed on demand. Even though in this scenario the next hop PREQ/PREP will determine is always the direct 11s neighbor node. The new mesh_nolearn parameter allows to skip the PREQ/PREP exchange in this scenario, leading to a reduced delay, reduced packet buffering and simplifies HWMP in general. mesh_nolearn is still rather conservative in that if the packet destination is not a direct 11s neighbor, it will fall back to PREQ/PREP path discovery. For normal, multi-hop 802.11s mesh routing it is usually not advisable to enable mesh_nolearn as a transmission to a direct but distant neighbor might be worse than reaching that same node via a more robust / higher throughput etc. multi-hop path. The following spatch found many more and also removes the now unnecessary casts: @@ identifier p, p2; expression len; expression skb; type t, t2; @@ ( -p = skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, len); | -p = (t)skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, len); ) ... when != p ( p2 = (t2)p; -memset(p2, 0, len); | -memset(p, 0, len); ) @@ type t, t2; identifier p, p2; expression skb; @@ t *p; ... ( -p = skb_put(skb, sizeof(t)); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, sizeof(t)); | -p = (t *)skb_put(skb, sizeof(t)); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, sizeof(t)); ) ... when != p ( p2 = (t2)p; -memset(p2, 0, sizeof(*p)); | -memset(p, 0, sizeof(*p)); ) @@ expression skb, len; @@ -memset(skb_put(skb, len), 0, len); +skb_put_zero(skb, len); Apply it to the tree (with one manual fixup to keep the comment in vxlan.c, which spatch removed.) 2016-12-13mac80211: multicast to unicast conversionMichael Braun1-0/+3
Add the ability for an AP (and associated VLANs) to perform multicast-to-unicast conversion for ARP, IPv4 and IPv6 frames (possibly within 802.1Q). If enabled, such frames are to be sent to each station separately, with the DA replaced by their own MAC address rather than the group address. Note that this may break certain expectations of the receiver, such as the ability to drop unicast IP packets received within multicast L2 frames, or the ability to not send ICMP destination unreachable messages for packets received in L2 multicast (which is required, but the receiver can't tell the difference if this new option is enabled.) This also doesn't implement the 802.11 DMS (directed multicast service). Signed-off-by: Michael Braun <michael-dev@fami-braun.de> [use true/false, rename label to the correct "multicast", use __be16 for ethertype and network order for constants] Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2016-10-12mac80211: filter multicast data packets on AP / AP_VLANMichael Braun1-0/+11
This patch adds filtering for multicast data packets on AP_VLAN interfaces that have no authorized station connected and changes filtering on AP interfaces to not count stations assigned to AP_VLAN interfaces. This saves airtime and avoids waking up other stations currently authorized in this BSS. When using WPA, the packets dropped could not be decrypted by any station. The behaviour when there are no AP_VLAN interfaces is left unchanged. When there are AP_VLAN interfaces, this patch 1. adds filtering multicast data packets sent on AP_VLAN interfaces that have no authorized station connected. No filtering happens on 4addr AP_VLAN interfaces. 2. makes filtering of multicast data packets sent on AP interfaces depend on the number of authorized stations in this bss not assigned to an AP_VLAN interface. Therefore, a new num_mcast_sta counter is added for AP_VLAN interfaces. The existing one for AP interfaces is altered to not track stations assigned to an AP_VLAN interface. The new counter is exposed in debugfs. 2016-09-30mac80211: add offset_tsf driver op and use it for meshPedersen, Thomas1-3/+9
This allows the mesh sync (and debugfs) code to make incremental TSF adjustments, avoiding any uncertainty introduced by delay in programming absolute TSF. Signed-off-by: Thomas Pedersen <twp@qca.qualcomm.com> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2016-09-13mac80211: Re-structure aqm debugfs output and keep CoDel stats per txqToke Høiland-Jørgensen1-1/+36
Currently the 'aqm' stats in mac80211 only keeps overlimit drop stats, not CoDel stats. This moves the CoDel stats into the txqi structure to keep them per txq in order to show them in debugfs. In addition, the aqm debugfs output is restructured by splitting it up into three files: One global per phy, one per netdev and one per station, in the appropriate directories. The files are all called aqm, and are only created if the driver supports the wake_tx_queue op (rather than emitting an error on open as previously). 2016-04-12cfg80211: remove enum ieee80211_bandJohannes Berg1-6/+6
This enum is already perfectly aliased to enum nl80211_band, and the only reason for it is that we get IEEE80211_NUM_BANDS out of it. There's no really good reason to not declare the number of bands in nl80211 though, so do that and remove the cfg80211 one. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2015-09-22mac80211: remove last_beacon/ave_beacon debugfs filesJohannes Berg1-12/+0
These file aren't really useful: - if per beacon data is required then you need to use radiotap or similar anyway, debugfs won't help much - average beacon signal is reported in station info in nl80211 and can be looked up with iw Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2015-09-22mac80211: debugfs: add file to disallow TDLS wider-bwArik Nemtsov1-0/+29
