2021-10-01mac80211: mesh: fix HE operation element length checkJohannes Berg1-4/+5
The length check here was bad, if the length doesn't at least include the length of the fixed part, we cannot call ieee80211_he_oper_size() to determine the total. Fix this, and convert to cfg80211_find_ext_elem() while at it. 2021-09-23mac80211: always allocate struct ieee802_11_elemsJohannes Berg1-36/+49
As the 802.11 spec evolves, we need to parse more and more elements. This is causing the struct to grow, and we can no longer get away with putting it on the stack. Change the API to always dynamically allocate and return an allocated pointer that must be kfree()d later. As an alternative, I contemplated a scheme whereby we'd say in the code which elements we needed, e.g. DECLARE_ELEMENT_PARSER(elems, SUPPORTED_CHANNELS, CHANNEL_SWITCH, EXT(KEY_DELIVERY)); ieee802_11_parse_elems(..., &elems, ...); and while I think this is possible and will save us a lot since most individual places only care about a small subset of the elements, it ended up being a bit more work since a lot of places do the parsing and then pass the struct to other functions, sometimes with multiple levels. 2021-09-23mac80211: mesh: clean up rx_bcn_presp APIJohannes Berg1-2/+2
We currently pass the entire elements to the rx_bcn_presp() method, but only need mesh_config. Additionally, we use the length of the elements to calculate back the entire frame's length, but that's confusing - just pass the length of the frame instead. 2020-11-06mac80211: save HE oper info in BSS config for meshPradeep Kumar Chitrapu1-0/+30
Currently he_support is set only for AP mode. Storing this information for mesh BSS as well helps driver to determine HE support. Also save HE operation element params in BSS conf so that drivers can access this for any configurations instead of having to parse the beacon to fetch that info. 2020-05-31mac80211: avoid using ext NSS high BW if not supportedJohannes Berg1-3/+13
If the AP advertises inconsistent data, namely it has CCFS1 or CCFS2, but doesn't advertise support for 160/80+80 bandwidth or "Extended NSS BW Support", then we cannot use any MCSes in the the higher bandwidth. Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch: @@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression E, SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; type T; @@ - E = ((T *)(fn(SKB, LEN))) + E = fn(SKB, LEN) which actually doesn't cover pskb_put since there are only three users overall. A handful of stragglers were converted manually, notably a macro in drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_bsdcomp.c and, oddly enough, one of the many instances in net/bluetooth/hci_sock.c. In the former file, I also had to fix one whitespace problem spatch introduced. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2017-06-16networking: introduce and use skb_put_data()Johannes Berg1-4/+4
A common pattern with skb_put() is to just want to memcpy() some data into the new space, introduce skb_put_data() for this. An spatch similar to the one for skb_put_zero() converts many of the places using it: @@ identifier p, p2; expression len, skb, data; type t, t2; @@ ( -p = skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_data(skb, data, len); | -p = (t)skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_data(skb, data, len); ) ( p2 = (t2)p; -memcpy(p2, data, len); | -memcpy(p, data, len); ) @@ type t, t2; identifier p, p2; expression skb, data; @@ t *p; ... 2017-06-16networking: convert many more places to skb_put_zero()Johannes Berg1-2/+1
There were many places that my previous spatch didn't find, as pointed out by yuan linyu in various patches. The following spatch found many more and also removes the now unnecessary casts: @@ identifier p, p2; expression len; expression skb; type t, t2; @@ ( -p = skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, len); | -p = (t)skb_put(skb, len); +p = skb_put_zero(skb, len); ) ... when != p ( p2 = (t2)p; -memset(p2, 0, len); | -memset(p, 0, len); ) @@ type t, t2; identifier p, p2; expression skb; @@ t *p; ... This pattern was introduced a number of times in mac80211 just now, and since it's present in a number of other places it makes sense to add a little helper for it. 2017-04-28mac80211: Fix possible sband related NULL pointer de-referenceMohammed Shafi Shajakhan1-9/+20
Existing API 'ieee80211_get_sdata_band' returns default 2 GHz band even if the channel context configuration is NULL. This crashes for chipsets which support 5 Ghz alone when it tries to access members of 'sband'. Channel context configuration can be NULL in multivif case and when channel switch is in progress (or) when it fails. Fix this by replacing the API 'ieee80211_get_sdata_band' with 'ieee80211_get_sband' which returns a NULL pointer for sband when the channel configuration is NULL. An example scenario is as below: In multivif mode (AP + STA) with drivers like ath10k, when we do a channel switch in the AP vif (which has a number of clients connected) and a STA vif which is connected to some other AP, when the channel switch in AP vif fails, while the STA vifs tries to connect to the other AP, there is a window where the channel context is NULL/invalid and this results in a crash while the clients connected to the AP vif tries to reconnect and this race is very similar to the one investigated by Michal in https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/3788161/ and this does happens with hardware that supports 5Ghz alone after long hours of testing with continuous channel switch on the AP vif ieee80211 phy0: channel context reservation cannot be finalized because some interfaces aren't switching wlan0: failed to finalize CSA, disconnecting wlan0-1: deauthenticating from 8c:fd:f0:01:54:9c by local choice (Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING) WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 19032 at net/mac80211/ieee80211_i.h:1013 sta_info_alloc+0x374/0x3fc [mac80211] [<bf77272c>] (sta_info_alloc [mac80211]) [<bf78776c>] (ieee80211_add_station [mac80211])) [<bf73cc50>] (nl80211_new_station [cfg80211]) Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000014 pgd = d5f4c000 Internal error: Oops: 17 [#1] PREEMPT SMP ARM PC is at sta_info_alloc+0x380/0x3fc [mac80211] LR is at sta_info_alloc+0x37c/0x3fc [mac80211] [<bf772738>] (sta_info_alloc [mac80211]) [<bf78776c>] (ieee80211_add_station [mac80211]) [<bf73cc50>] (nl80211_new_station [cfg80211])) Cc: Michal Kazior <michal.kazior@tieto.com> Signed-off-by: Mohammed Shafi Shajakhan <mohammed@qti.qualcomm.com> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-03-29mac80211: mesh: drop new node with weak powerMasashi Honma1-2/+8
On some practical cases, it is useful to drop new node in the distance. Because mesh metric is calculated with hop count and without RSSI information, a node far from local peer and near to destination node could be used as best path. For example, the nodes are located in linear. Distance of 0 - 1 and 1 - 2 and 2 - 3 is 20meters. 0 to 3 signal is very weak. 0 --- 1 --- 2 --- 3 Though most robust path from 0 to 3 is 0 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3, unfortunately, node 0 could recognize node 3 as neighbor. Then node 3 could be next of node 0. This patch aims to avoid such a case. [Johannes:] Dropping the node entirely isn't ideal, but at least with encryption there will be a limit on # of keys the hardware can deal with, and there might also be a limit on the number of stations it supports.
