2023-01-28net/rose: Fix to not accept on connected socketHyunwoo Kim1-0/+8
If you call listen() and accept() on an already connect()ed rose socket, accept() can successfully connect. This is because when the peer socket sends data to sendmsg, the skb with its own sk stored in the connected socket's sk->sk_receive_queue is connected, and rose_accept() dequeues the skb waiting in the sk->sk_receive_queue. This creates a child socket with the sk of the parent rose socket, which can cause confusion. Fix rose_listen() to return -EINVAL if the socket has already been successfully connected, and add lock_sock to prevent this issue. It's the first occurrence of the `neigh` is in rose_loopback_timer() as `rose_loopback_neigh', and the 'dev' in 'rose_loopback_neigh' is initialized sa nullptr. It had been fixed by commit 3b3fd068c56e3fbea30090859216a368398e39bf ("rose: Fix Null pointer dereference in rose_send_frame()") ever. But it's introduced by commit 3c53cd65dece47dd1f9d3a809f32e59d1d87b2b8 ("rose: check NULL rose_loopback_neigh->loopback") again. We fix it by add NULL check in rose_transmit_clear_request(). 2022-08-22rose: check NULL rose_loopback_neigh->loopbackBernard Pidoux1-1/+2
Commit 3b3fd068c56e3fbea30090859216a368398e39bf added NULL check for `rose_loopback_neigh->dev` in rose_loopback_timer() but omitted to check rose_loopback_neigh->loopback. It thus prevents *all* rose connect. The reason is that a special rose_neigh loopback has a NULL device. /proc/net/rose_neigh illustrates it via rose_neigh_show() function : [...] seq_printf(seq, "%05d %-9s %-4s %3d %3d %3s %3s %3lu %3lu", rose_neigh->number, (rose_neigh->loopback) ? "RSLOOP-0" : ax2asc(buf, &rose_neigh->callsign), rose_neigh->dev ? rose_neigh->dev->name : "???", rose_neigh->count, /proc/net/rose_neigh displays special rose_loopback_neigh->loopback as callsign RSLOOP-0: addr callsign dev count use mode restart t0 tf digipeaters 00001 RSLOOP-0 ??? 1 2 DCE yes 0 0 By checking rose_loopback_neigh->loopback, rose_rx_call_request() is called even in case rose_loopback_neigh->dev is NULL. There are UAF bugs in rose_heartbeat_expiry(), rose_timer_expiry() and rose_idletimer_expiry(). The root cause is that del_timer() could not stop the timer handler that is running and the refcount of sock is not managed properly. One of the UAF bugs is shown below: (thread 1) | (thread 2) | rose_bind | rose_connect | rose_start_heartbeat rose_release | (wait a time) case ROSE_STATE_0 | rose_destroy_socket | rose_heartbeat_expiry rose_stop_heartbeat | sock_put(sk) | ... sock_put(sk) // FREE | | bh_lock_sock(sk) // USE The sock is deallocated by sock_put() in rose_release() and then used by bh_lock_sock() in rose_heartbeat_expiry(). 2022-04-06net: remove noblock parameter from skb_recv_datagram()Oliver Hartkopp1-1/+2
skb_recv_datagram() has two parameters 'flags' and 'noblock' that are merged inside skb_recv_datagram() by 'flags | (noblock ? MSG_DONTWAIT : 0)' As 'flags' may contain MSG_DONTWAIT as value most callers split the 'flags' into 'flags' and 'noblock' with finally obsolete bit operations like this: skb_recv_datagram(sk, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, &rc); And this is not even done consistently with the 'flags' parameter. This patch removes the obsolete and costly splitting into two parameters and only performs bit operations when really needed on the caller side. 2020-06-09net: change addr_list_lock back to static keyCong Wang1-0/+2
The dynamic key update for addr_list_lock still causes troubles, for example the following race condition still exists: CPU 0: CPU 1: (RCU read lock) (RTNL lock) dev_mc_seq_show() netdev_update_lockdep_key() -> lockdep_unregister_key() -> netif_addr_lock_bh() because lockdep doesn't provide an API to update it atomically. Therefore, we have to move it back to static keys and use subclass for nest locking like before. In commit 1a33e10e4a95 ("net: partially revert dynamic lockdep key changes"), I already reverted most parts of commit ab92d68fc22f ("net: core: add generic lockdep keys"). This patch reverts the rest and also part of commit f3b0a18bb6cb ("net: remove unnecessary variables and callback"). After this patch, addr_list_lock changes back to using static keys and subclasses to satisfy lockdep. Thanks to dev->lower_level, we do not have to change back to ->ndo_get_lock_subclass(). And hopefully this reduces some syzbot lockdep noises too. Some interface types could be nested. (VLAN, BONDING, TEAM, MACSEC, MACVLAN, IPVLAN, VIRT_WIFI, VXLAN, etc..) These interface types should set lockdep class because, without lockdep class key, lockdep always warn about unexisting circular locking. In the current code, these interfaces have their own lockdep class keys and these manage itself. So that there are so many duplicate code around the /driver/net and /net/. This patch adds new generic lockdep keys and some helper functions for it. This patch does below changes. a) Add lockdep class keys in struct net_device - qdisc_running, xmit, addr_list, qdisc_busylock - these keys are used as dynamic lockdep key. b) When net_device is being allocated, lockdep keys are registered. - alloc_netdev_mqs() c) When net_device is being free'd llockdep keys are unregistered. - free_netdev() d) Add generic lockdep key helper function - netdev_register_lockdep_key() - netdev_unregister_lockdep_key() - netdev_update_lockdep_key() e) Remove unnecessary generic lockdep macro and functions f) Remove unnecessary lockdep code of each interfaces. 2019-04-25net/rose: fix unbound loop in rose_loopback_timer()Eric Dumazet1-11/+16
This patch adds a limit on the number of skbs that fuzzers can queue into loopback_queue. 1000 packets for rose loopback seems more than enough. Then, since we now have multiple cpus in most linux hosts, we also need to limit the number of skbs rose_loopback_timer() can dequeue at each round. rose_loopback_queue() can be drop-monitor friendly, calling consume_skb() or kfree_skb() appropriately. 2019-04-20net: rework SIOCGSTAMP ioctl handlingArnd Bergmann1-6/+1
The SIOCGSTAMP/SIOCGSTAMPNS ioctl commands are implemented by many socket protocol handlers, and all of those end up calling the same sock_get_timestamp()/sock_get_timestampns() helper functions, which results in a lot of duplicate code. With the introduction of 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures, this gets worse, as we then need four different ioctl commands in each socket protocol implementation. To simplify that, let's add a new .gettstamp() operation in struct proto_ops, and move ioctl implementation into the common sock_ioctl()/compat_sock_ioctl_trans() functions that these all go through. We can reuse the sock_get_timestamp() implementation, but generalize it so it can deal with both native and compat mode, as well as timeval and timespec structures. 2019-01-27net/rose: fix NULL ax25_cb kernel panicBernard Pidoux1-0/+5
When an internally generated frame is handled by rose_xmit(), rose_route_frame() is called: if (!rose_route_frame(skb, NULL)) { dev_kfree_skb(skb); stats->tx_errors++; return NETDEV_TX_OK; } We have the same code sequence in Net/Rom where an internally generated frame is handled by nr_xmit() calling nr_route_frame(skb, NULL). However, in this function NULL argument is tested while it is not in rose_route_frame(). Then kernel panic occurs later on when calling ax25cmp() with a NULL ax25_cb argument as reported many times and recently with syzbot. We need to test if ax25 is NULL before using it. 2018-06-28Revert changes to convert to ->poll_mask() and aio IOCB_CMD_POLLLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because "->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect calls. Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the "->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections. But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental redesign. 2018-06-13treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()Kees Cook1-1/+2
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kzalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kzalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; 2018-02-12net: make getname() functions return length rather than use int* parameterDenys Vlasenko1-3/+2
Changes since v1: Added changes in these files: drivers/infiniband/hw/usnic/usnic_transport.c drivers/staging/lustre/lnet/lnet/lib-socket.c drivers/target/iscsi/iscsi_target_login.c drivers/vhost/net.c fs/dlm/lowcomms.c fs/ocfs2/cluster/tcp.c security/tomoyo/network.c Before: All these functions either return a negative error indicator, or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter and return zero on success. "int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value it does not need. None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it. This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success, return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated from an error. Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed. rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently not used in any way. Userspace API is not changed. text data bss dec hex filename 30108430 2633624 873672 33615726 200ef6e vmlinux.before.o 30108109 2633612 873672 33615393 200ee21 vmlinux.o Signed-off-by: Denys Vlasenko <dvlasenk@redhat.com> CC: David S. 2018-01-16net: delete /proc THIS_MODULE referencesAlexey Dobriyan2-4/+0
/proc has been ignoring struct file_operations::owner field for 10 years. Specifically, it started with commit 786d7e1612f0b0adb6046f19b906609e4fe8b1ba ("Fix rmmod/read/write races in /proc entries"). Notice the chunk where inode->i_fop is initialized with proxy struct file_operations for regular files: - if (de->proc_fops) - inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops; + if (de->proc_fops) { + if (S_ISREG(inode->i_mode)) + inode->i_fop = &proc_reg_file_ops; + else + inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops; + } VFS stopped pinning module at this point. 2017-11-22treewide: Remove TIMER_FUNC_TYPE and TIMER_DATA_TYPE castsKees Cook2-8/+8
With all callbacks converted, and the timer callback prototype switched over, the TIMER_FUNC_TYPE cast is no longer needed, so remove it. Conversion was done with the following scripts: perl -pi -e 's|\(TIMER_FUNC_TYPE\)||g' \ $(git grep TIMER_FUNC_TYPE | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u) perl -pi -e 's|\(TIMER_DATA_TYPE\)||g' \ $(git grep TIMER_DATA_TYPE | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u) The now unused macros are also dropped from include/linux/timer.h. 2017-03-10net: Work around lockdep limitation in sockets that use socketsDavid Howells1-1/+2
Lockdep issues a circular dependency warning when AFS issues an operation through AF_RXRPC from a context in which the VFS/VM holds the mmap_sem. The theory lockdep comes up with is as follows: (1) If the pagefault handler decides it needs to read pages from AFS, it calls AFS with mmap_sem held and AFS begins an AF_RXRPC call, but creating a call requires the socket lock: mmap_sem must be taken before sk_lock-AF_RXRPC (2) afs_open_socket() opens an AF_RXRPC socket and binds it. rxrpc_bind() binds the underlying UDP socket whilst holding its socket lock. inet_bind() takes its own socket lock: sk_lock-AF_RXRPC must be taken before sk_lock-AF_INET (3) Reading from a TCP socket into a userspace buffer might cause a fault and thus cause the kernel to take the mmap_sem, but the TCP socket is locked whilst doing this: sk_lock-AF_INET must be taken before mmap_sem However, lockdep's theory is wrong in this instance because it deals only with lock classes and not individual locks. The AF_INET lock in (2) isn't really equivalent to the AF_INET lock in (3) as the former deals with a socket entirely internal to the kernel that never sees userspace. This is a limitation in the design of lockdep. Fix the general case by: (1) Double up all the locking keys used in sockets so that one set are used if the socket is created by userspace and the other set is used if the socket is created by the kernel. (2) Store the kern parameter passed to sk_alloc() in a variable in the sock struct (sk_kern_sock). This informs sock_lock_init(), sock_init_data() and sk_clone_lock() as to the lock keys to be used. Note that the child created by sk_clone_lock() inherits the parent's kern setting. (3) Add a 'kern' parameter to ->accept() that is analogous to the one passed in to ->create() that distinguishes whether kernel_accept() or sys_accept4() was the caller and can be passed to sk_alloc(). Note that a lot of accept functions merely dequeue an already allocated socket. I haven't touched these as the new socket already exists before we get the parameter. Note also that there are a couple of places where I've made the accepted socket unconditionally kernel-based: irda_accept() rds_rcp_accept_one() tcp_accept_from_sock() because they follow a sock_create_kern() and accept off of that. Whilst creating this, I noticed that lustre and ocfs don't create sockets through sock_create_kern() and thus they aren't marked as for-kernel, though they appear to be internal. I wonder if these should do that so that they use the new set of lock keys. Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2017-03-02sched/headers: Prepare for new header dependencies before moving code to ↵Ingo Molnar1-1/+1
<linux/sched/signal.h> We are going to split <linux/sched/signal.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files. 2016-07-13rose: limit sk_filter trim to payloadWillem de Bruijn1-1/+2
Sockets can have a filter program attached that drops or trims incoming packets based on the filter program return value. Rose requires data packets to have at least ROSE_MIN_LEN bytes. It verifies this on arrival in rose_route_frame and unconditionally pulls the bytes in rose_recvmsg. The filter can trim packets to below this value in-between, causing pull to fail, leaving the partial header at the time of skb_copy_datagram_msg. Place a lower bound on the size to which sk_filter may trim packets by introducing sk_filter_trim_cap and call this for rose packets.
