2015-03-10ALSA: core: Drop superfluous error/debug messages after malloc failuresTakashi Iwai1-1/+0
The kernel memory allocators already report the errors when the requested allocation fails, thus we don't need to warn it again in each caller side. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2014-12-30ALSA: snd_pcm_oss_period_size: Use round{up,down}_pow_of_two()Lars-Peter Clausen1-3/+3
Instead of opencoding them use the standard roundup_pow_of_two() and rounddown_pow_of_two() helper functions. This gets rids one of the few users of the custom ld2() function and also makes it a bit more obvious what the code does. Signed-off-by: Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2014-02-14ALSA: oss: Use standard printk helpersTakashi Iwai1-51/+48
Use dev_err() & co as much as possible. If not available (no device assigned at the calling point), use pr_xxx() helpers instead. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2014-02-12ALSA: Drop unused name argument in snd_register_oss_device()Takashi Iwai1-3/+1
The last argument, name, of snd_oss_register_device() is nowhere referred in the function in the current code. Let's drop it. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2012-11-08ALSA: Fix card refcount unbalanceTakashi Iwai1-0/+1
There are uncovered cases whether the card refcount introduced by the commit a0830dbd isn't properly increased or decreased: - OSS PCM and mixer success paths - When lookup function gets NULL This patch fixes these places. Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50251 Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2012-10-30ALSA: Avoid endless sleep after disconnectTakashi Iwai1-0/+4
When disconnect callback is called, each component should wake up sleepers and check card->shutdown flag for avoiding the endless sleep blocking the proper resource release. Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2012-10-30ALSA: Add a reference counter to card instanceTakashi Iwai1-0/+2
For more strict protection for wild disconnections, a refcount is introduced to the card instance, and let it up/down when an object is referred via snd_lookup_*() in the open ops. The free-after-last-close check is also changed to check this refcount instead of the empty list, too. Reported-by: Matthieu CASTET <matthieu.castet@parrot.com> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2011-12-19ALSA: module_param: make bool parameters really boolRusty Russell1-1/+1
module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2011-11-01sound: fix drivers needing module.h not moduleparam.hPaul Gortmaker1-1/+1
The implicit presence of module.h lured several users into incorrectly thinking that they only needed/used modparam.h but once we clean up the module.h presence, these will show up as build failures, so fix 'em now. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com>
2011-02-14ALSA: core: sparse cleanupsClemens Ladisch1-23/+28
Change the core code where sparse complains. In most cases, this means just adding annotations to confirm that we indeed want to do the dirty things we're doing. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2011-01-10ALSA: Don't leak in sound/core/oss/pcm_oss.c::snd_pcm_hw_param_near()Jesper Juhl1-1/+3
snd_pcm_hw_param_near() will leak the memory allocated to 'save' if the call to snd_pcm_hw_param_max() returns less than zero. This patch makes sure we never leak. Signed-off-by: Jesper Juhl <jj@chaosbits.net> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-11-30ALSA: Fix SNDCTL_DSP_RESET ioctl for OSS emulationTakashi Iwai1-8/+11
In OSS emulation, SNDCTL_DSP_RESET ioctl needs the reset of the internal buffer state in addition to drop of the running streams. Otherwise the succeeding access becomes inconsistent. Tested-by: Amit Nagal <helloin.amit@gmail.com> Cc: <stable@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-04-13ALSA: core - Define llseek fopsTakashi Iwai1-0/+5
Set no_llseek to llseek file ops of each sound component (but for hwdep). This avoids the implicit BKL invocation via generic_file_llseek() used as default when fops.llseek is NULL. Also call nonseekable_open() at each open ops to ensure the file flags have no seek bit. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-01-26ALSA: pcm_lib - return back hw_ptr_interruptJaroslav Kysela1-2/+1
Clemens Ladisch noted for hw_ptr_removal in "cleanup & merge hw_ptr update functions" commit: "It is possible for the status/delay ioctls to be called when the sound card's pointer register alreay shows a position at the beginning of the new period, but immediately before the interrupt is actually executed. (This happens regularly on a SMP machine with mplayer.) When that happens, the code thinks that the position must be at least one period ahead of the current position and drops an entire buffer of data." Return back the hw_ptr_interrupt variable. The last interrupt pointer is always computed from the latest hw_ptr instead of tracking it separately (in this case all hw_ptr checks and modifications might influence also hw_ptr_interrupt and it is difficult to keep it consistent). 2010-01-07ALSA: pcm_lib - cleanup & merge hw_ptr update functionsJaroslav Kysela1-9/+23
Do general cleanup in snd_pcm_update_hw_ptr*() routines and merge them. The main change is hw_ptr_interrupt variable removal to simplify code logic. This variable can be computed directly from hw_ptr. Ensure that updated hw_ptr is not lower than previous one (it was possible with old code in some obscure situations when interrupt was delayed or the lowlevel driver returns wrong ring buffer position value). 2009-03-16Use f_lock to protect f_flagsJonathan Corbet1-0/+2
Traditionally, changes to struct file->f_flags have been done under BKL protection, or with no protection at all. This patch causes all f_flags changes after file open/creation time to be done under protection of f_lock. This allows the removal of some BKL usage and fixes a number of longstanding (if microscopic) races. 2008-08-01sound: Revert "ALSA: Fix limit of 8 PCM devices in ↵Jaroslav Kysela1-5/+5
SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PCM_NEXT_DEVICE" This reverts commit fb3d6f2b77bdec75d45aa9d4464287ed87927866. New, updated patch with same subject replaces this commit. Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@perex.cz>
2008-07-29ALSA: Fix limit of 8 PCM devices in SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PCM_NEXT_DEVICEPawel MOLL1-5/+5
When compiled with CONFIG_SND_DYNAMIC_MINORS the ALSA core is fine to have more than 8 PCM devices per card, except one place - the SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PCM_NEXT_DEVICE ioctl, which will not enumerate devices > 7. This patch fixes the issue, changing the devices list organisation. Instead of adding new device to the tail, the list is now kept always ordered (by card number, then device number). Thus, during enumeration, it is easy to discover the fact that there is no more given card's devices. The same limit was present in OSS emulation code. It has been fixed as well. Additionally the device field of struct snd_pcm is now int, instead of unsigned int, as there is no obvious reason for keeping it unsigned. This caused a lot of problems with comparing this value with other (almost always signed) variables. There is just one more place where device number is unsigned - in struct snd_pcm_info, which should be also sorted out in future. 2008-01-31[ALSA] Fix Oops with PCM OSS syncTakashi Iwai1-0/+1
The PCM OSS emulation can cause Oops at sync operation due to the wrong data size calculation. Typically happening on Sparc64: http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/1/24/426 Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@perex.cz>
2008-01-31[ALSA] Remove sound/driver.hTakashi Iwai1-1/+0
This header file exists only for some hacks to adapt alsa-driver tree. It's useless for building in the kernel. Let's move a few lines in it to sound/core.h and remove it. With this patch, sound/driver.h isn't removed but has just a single compile warning to include it. This should be really killed in future. 2008-01-31[ALSA] Remove PCM sleep_min and tickTakashi Iwai1-1/+0
The 'tick' in PCM is set (again) via sw_params. And, nobody uses this feature at all except for a command line option of aplay. (This is literally 'nobody', as I checked alsa-lib API calls in all programs in major distros.) Above all, if we need finer wake-ups for the position update, it's basically an issue that the driver should solve, not tuned by each application. 2008-01-31[ALSA] Remove PCM xfer_align sw paramsTakashi Iwai1-1/+0
The xfer_align sw_params parameter has never been used in a sane manner, and no one understands what this does exactly. The current implementation looks also buggy because it allows write of shorter size than xfer_align. So, if you do partial writes, the write isn't actually aligned at all. Removing this parameter will make some pcm_lib_* code more readable (and less buggy). Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@perex.cz>

2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 9Arjan van de Ven1-1/+1
