For some reason a number of files included the "All rights reserved"
statement. Good old copy-paste made sure this mistake proliferated.

Since LunarLake, we use the HDadio WAKEEN/WAKESTS to detect wakes for
SoundWire codecs. Unfortunately, the existing code in
hda_codec_jack_wake_enable() unconditionally resets the WAKEEN bits.
This patch changes the initialization to preserve SoundWire WAKEEN
bits. For HDAudio codecs the same strategy is used, WAKEEN is only set
when the jacktbl.used property is set.

The current code flow is:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
During boot the codec drivers are not loaded when the hdac device is
registered, it is going to be probed later when loading the codec module,
which point the parameters are set.
On module remove/insert
rmmod snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
modprobe snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
The codec module remains loaded and the driver will be probed when the
hdac device is created right away, before the parameters for the driver
has been configured:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
will be a NOP as the module is already loaded
Move the snd_hdac_device_register() later, to be done right before
requesting the codec module to make sure that the parameters are all set
before the device is created:
1. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
2. snd_hdac_device_register()
3. request_codec_module()
This way at the hdac driver probe all parameters will be set in all cases.

If snd_hdac_device_register() fails, 'codec' and name allocated in
dev_set_name() called in snd_hdac_device_init() are leaked. Fix this
by calling put_device(), so they can be freed in snd_hda_codec_dev_release()
and kobject_cleanup().

The existing NOCODEC mode enforces a build-time mutual exclusion with
the HDaudio link support, mostly to avoid any dependency on the
snd_hdac library and references to HDAudio codec/i915 stuff.
This is very useful to track dependencies and test a minimal
configuration, but very painful for developers and CI: a recompilation
and reinstall of the kernel modules is required.
This patch suggests an alternate middle ground where the selection of
the machine driver and all codec-related actions are bypassed at
run-time, contingent on a kernel module parameter being set.
For example setting BIT(10) with
'options snd_sof sof_debug=0x401'
is enough to switch from an HDaudio card to a nocodec one.
This new DEBUG_NOCODEC mode is not suitable for distributions and
end-users. It's not even recommended on all platforms, i.e. the
NOCODEC mode is known not to work on specific devices where the BIOS
did not configure support for I2S/DMIC interfaces. The usual
development devices such as Chromebooks, Up boards and Intel RVP are
the only recommended platforms where this mode can be supported.
Note that the dynamic switch between HDaudio and nocodec may not
always possible depending on hardware layout, pin-mux options, and
BIOS settings. The audio subsustems on Intel platforms has to support
4 types of interfaces and pin-mux can be complicated.
Reviewers might ask: why didn't we do this earlier? The main reason is
that all the codec-related configurations were not cleanly separated
out in the sof/intel directory. With all the cleanups done recently,
adding this opt-in behavior is relatively straightforward.
Tested on UpExtreme (WHL) and UpExtreme i11 (TGL).

All the HDAudio codec handling is completely specific to Linux and
completely dependency on GPL2.0 code, specifically the snd_hdac_
library.
There was no intention to have a dual-license for this code, this was
an oversight that needs to be corrected. Update the SPDX and
EXPORT_SYMBOL information, no functionality change otherwise.

To make snd_hda_codec_device_init() the only constructor for struct
hda_codec instances remaining tasks are:
1) no struct may wrap struct hda_codec as its base type
2) bus drivers (skylake and sof) which are the current hdac_ext users
need to be adjusted to make use of newly added codec init and exit
routines instead
3) as bus drivers (skylake and sof) are to be responsible for creating
codec device and assigning it to hdac_hda_priv->codec,
hdac_hda_dev_probe() has to be freed of that job
To keep git bisect happy, all of these in made in one-go.

On the latest Lenovo Thinkstation laptops, we often experience the
speaker failure after rebooting, check the dmesg, we could see:
sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: codec #0 probe error, ret: -5
The analogue codec on the machine is ALC287, then we designed a
testcase to reboot and check the codec probing result repeatedly, we
found the analogue codec probing always failed at least once within
several minutes to several hours (roughly 1 reboot per min). This
issue happens on all laptops of this Thinkstation model, but with
legacy HDA driver, we couldn't reproduce this issue on those laptops.
And so far, this issue is not reproduced on machines which don't
belong to this model.
We tried to make the hda_dsp_ctrl_init_chip() same as
hda_intel_init_chip() which is the controller init routine in the
legacy HDA driver, but it didn't help.
We found when issue happens, the resp is -1, and if we let driver
re-run send_cmd() and get_response(), it will get the correct response
10ec0287, then driver continues the rest work, finally boot to the
desktop and all audio function work well.
Here adding codec probing retries to 3 times, it could fix the issue
on this Thinkstation model, and it doesn't bring impact to other
machines.

The earlier commit to fix runtime PM in case i915 init fails,
introduces a possibility to hit a page fault.
snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_exit() is designed to be called from
dev.release(). Calling it outside device reference counting, is
not safe and may lead to calling the device_exit() function
twice. Additionally, as part of ext_bus_device_init(), the device
is also registered with snd_hdac_device_register(). Thus before
calling device_exit(), the device must be removed from device
hierarchy first.
Fix the issue by rolling back init actions by calling
hdac_device_unregister() and then releasing device with put_device().
This matches with existing code in hdac-ext module.
To complete the fix, add handling for the case where
hda_codec_load_module() returns -ENODEV, and clean up the hdac_ext
resources also in this case.
In future work, hdac-ext interface should be extended to allow clients
more flexibility to handle the life-cycle of individual devices, beyond
just the current snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_remove(), which removes all
devices.

Modify hda_codec_jack_wake_enable() to also support disable WAKEEN.
In addition, this patch also moves the WAKEEN disablement call out of
hda_codec_jack_check() into hda_codec_jack_wake_enable().
This is a preparation for next patch.

Instead of queueing jackpoll_work, runtime resume the codec to let it
use different jack detection methods based on jackpoll_interval.
This partially matches SOF driver's behavior with commit a6e7d0a4bdb0
("ALSA: hda: fix jack detection with Realtek codecs when in D3"), the
difference is SOF unconditionally resumes the codec.

To provide backward compatibility to older systems, the SOF HDA driver
allows user to specify which HDMI codec driver to use at runtime via
kernel parameter. This mechanism has a subtle flaw in that it assumes
the codec drivers not to be loaded when the SOF PCI driver is loaded.
The problem is rooted in use of the hdev->type field.
snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_init() initializes this field to HDA_DEV_ASOC.
This signals the HDA core that ASoC drivers should be considered in
driver matching (hda_bus_match()). The SOF and SST drivers continue by
overriding this field to HDA_DEV_LEGACY and proceeding to load driver
modules with request_module(). Correct drivers will get loaded and
attached.
If however the codec drivers are already loaded when
snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_init() is called, the matching will not work as
expected as device type is still set to HDA_DEV_ASOC. Specifically if
hdac-hdmi is attached when machine driver is configured to use hdac-hda,
this leads to out-of-bounds memory access in
hda_dsp_hdmi_build_controls().
Fix the issue by adding codec type as a parameter to
snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_init() and ensuring type is set correctly from
the start.

the codec and keep going. However,the resources are not released. The
child_count of SOF device is increased in snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_init
but is not decrease in error case, so SOF can't get suspended.
snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_exit will be invoked in HDA framework if it
gets a error. Now copy this behavior to release resources and decrease
SOF device child_count to release SOF device.

Add support for using generic codec driver with SOF. Generic driver
is used if:
- snd_sof_intel_hda_common.hda_model="generic" is set, or
- fallback if no other codec driver is found
The implementation is aligned with snd-hda-intel driver, and fixes audio
support for systems like Acer Swift 3 SF314-57G, on which this issue was
originally reported.

Add support to configure the HDA controller with an external HDA
codec even if iDisp codec in i915 is not available.
This can happen for multiple reasons:
- internal graphics is disabled on the system
- i915 driver is not enabled in kernel or it fails to init
- i915 codec reports error in HDA codec probe
- HDA codec driver probe fails
Address all these scenarios, but keep using the existing topology.
In case failures occur, HDMI PCM nodes are created, but they will
report error if application tries to use them. No ALSA mixer controls
are created. If the external HDA codec init fails as well, SOF probe
will return error as before.

When HDA controller is resumed from suspend, i915 HDMI/DP
codec requires that following order of actions is kept:
- i915 display power up and configuration of link params
- hda link reset and setup
Current SOF HDA code delegates display codec power control
to the codec driver. This works most of the time, but in
runtime PM sequences, the above constraint may be violated.
On platforms where BIOS values for HDA link parameters do
not match hardware reset defaults, this may lead to errors
in HDA verb transactions after resume.
Fix the issue by explicitly powering the display codec
in the HDA controller resume/suspend calls, thus ensuring
correct ordering. Special handling is needed for the D0i3
flow, where display power must be turned off even though
DSP is left powered.
Now that we have more invocations of the display power helper
functions, the conditional checks surrounding each call have
been moved inside hda_codec_i915_display_power(). The two
special cases of display powering at initial probe are handled
separately. The intent is to avoid powering the display whenever
no display codecs are used.
Note that early powering of display was removed in
commit 687ae9e287b3 ("ASoC: intel: skl: Fix display power regression").
This change was also copied to the SOF driver. No failures
have resulted as hardware default values for link parameters
have worked out of the box. However with recent i915 driver
changes like done in commit 87c1694533c9 ("drm/i915: save
AUD_FREQ_CNTRL state at audio domain suspend"), this does not
hold anymore and errors are hit.

The current interface to control i915 display power is misleading.
The hda_codec_i915_get() and hda_codec_i915_put() names suggest
a refcounting based interface. This is confusing as no refcounting
is done and the underlying HDAC library interface does not support
refcounts eithers.
Clarify the code by replacing the functions with a single
hda_codec_i915_display_power() that is aligned with
snd_hdac_display_power().

ASoC: Fixes for v5.5
This is mostly driver specific fixes, plus an error handling fix
in the core. There is a rather large diffstat for the stm32 SAI
driver, this is a very large but mostly mechanical update which
wraps every register access in the driver to allow a fix to the
locking which avoids circular locks, the active change is much
smaller and more reasonably sized.

In case system has multiple HDA controllers, it can happen that
same HDA codec driver is used for codecs of multiple controllers.
In this case, SOF may fail to probe the HDA driver and SOF
initialization fails.
SOF HDA code currently relies that a call to request_module() will
also run device matching logic to attach driver to the codec instance.
However if driver for another HDA controller was already loaded and it
already loaded the HDA codec driver, this breaks current logic in SOF.
In this case the request_module() SOF does becomes a no-op and HDA
Codec driver is not attached to the codec instance sitting on the HDA
bus SOF is controlling. Typical scenario would be a system with both
external and internal GPUs, with driver of the external GPU loaded
first.
Fix this by adding similar logic as is used in legacy HDA driver
where an explicit device_attach() call is done after request_module().
Also add logic to propagate errors reported by device_attach() back
to caller. This also works in the case where drivers are not built
as modules.

In case a HDA codec probe fails, do not raise error immediately,
but instead remove the codec from bus->codec_mask and continue
probe for other codecs.
This allows for more robust behaviour in cases where one codec
in the system is faulty. SOF driver load can still proceed with
the codecs that can be probed successfully. Probe may still
fail if suitable machine driver is not found, but in many
cases the generic HDA machine driver can operate with a subset
of codecs.

The machine driver selection for HDA platforms will be
consolidated and moved out of the SOF DSP
probe callback. In preparation for that, modify the
signature for hda_codec_probe_bus() to pass the
hda_codec_use_common_hdmi as a variable while probing the
HDA codecs.

Add support to implement HDMI/DP audio by using the common
snd-hda-codec-hdmi driver.
Change of codec driver affects user-space as the two
drivers expose different mixer controls. A new kernel
module option "use_common_hdmi" is added to user-space
to indicate which interface should be used. The default
driver can be selected via a Kconfig option.

In commit 7d4f606c50ff ("ALSA: hda - WAKEEN feature enabling for
runtime pm"), legacy HD-A driver sets hda controller in reset mode after
entering runtime-suspend. And when resuming from suspend mode, it checks
hda controller & codec status to detect headphone hotplug event. Now
this patch does the same job in SOF runtime pm functions.
And we need to check all the non-hdmi codecs for some cases like playback
with HDMI or capture with DMIC connected to dsp. In these cases, only
controller is active and codecs are suspended, so codecs can't send
unsolicited event to controller. The jack polling operation will activate
codecs and unsolicited event can work even codecs become suspended later.
Tested on whiskylake with hda codecs.

snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_exit() has been recently modified
to no longer free the hdac device. SOF allocates memory for
hdac_device and hda_hda_priv with kzalloc. Make them
device-managed instead so that they will be freed when the
SOF driver is unloaded.
Because of the above change, hda_codec is device-managed and
it will be freed when the ASoC device is removed. Freeing
the codec in snd_hda_codec_dev_release() leads to kernel
panic while unloading and reloading the ASoC driver. So,
avoid freeing the hda_codec for ASoC driver. This is done in
the same patch to avoid bisect failure.
