2021-04-13x86: qemu: move QFW to its own uclassAsherah Connor2-46/+12
We move qfw into its own uclass and split the PIO functions into a specific driver for that uclass. The PIO driver is selected in the qemu-x86 board config (this covers x86 and x86_64). include/qfw.h is cleaned up and documentation added. 2021-02-02common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common headerSimon Glass2-0/+2
Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. 2020-02-06dm: core: Create a new header file for 'compat' featuresSimon Glass1-0/+1
At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This requires including linux/compat.h which in turn includes a lot of headers. One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox which needs to use the system malloc() in some files. Move the compatibility features into a separate header file. 2019-08-11env: Move TOTAL_MALLOC_LEN to environment.hSimon Glass1-0/+1
This declaration is only used in three files. Although it relates to malloc() it is actually only used during malloc() init. It uses CONFIG options including CONFIG_ENV_ADDR which are defined only in environment.h so this header must be included anyway, for TOTAL_MALLOC_LEN to be correct. Nove it to environment.h to simplify the common file. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini7-16/+7
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. 2017-08-16env: Convert CONFIG_ENV_IS_IN... to a choiceSimon Glass1-1/+0
At present we support multiple environment drivers but there is not way to select between them at run time. Also settings related to the position and size of the environment area are global (i.e. apply to all locations). Until these limitations are removed we cannot really support more than one environment location. Adjust the location to be a choice so that only one can be selected. By default the environment is 'nowhere', meaning that the environment exists only in memory and cannot be saved. Also expand the help for the 'nowhere' option and move it to the top since it is the default. At present we misuse print_cpuinfo() do so CPU init on x86. This is done because it is the next available call after the console is enabled. But several arches use checkcpu() instead. Despite the horrible name (which we can fix), it seems a better choice. Adjust the various x86 CPU implementations to move their init code into checkcpu() and use print_cpuinfo() only for printing CPU info. CONFIG_GENENRATE_ACPI_TABLE controls the generation of ACPI table which uses U-Boot's built-in methods and CONFIG_QEMU_ACPI_TABLE controls whether to load ACPI table from QEMU's fw_cfg interface. But with commit "697ec431469ce0a4c2fc2c02d8685d907491af84 x86: qemu: Drop our own ACPI implementation", there is only one way to support ACPI table for QEMU targets which is the fw_cfg interface. Our own ACPI implementation (when CONFIG_QEMU_ACPI_TABLE is not set) does not build anymore after x86 has been fully converted to DM PCI. Instead of trying to fix the build errors, given we now have the ACPI support via QEMU's fw_cfg interface, which is a more reliable way to generate correct ACPI tables than by ourselves, hence drop our own ACPI implementation. QEMU tells guests how to load and patch ACPI tables through its fw_cfg interface, by adding a firmware file 'etc/table-loader'.
